ROPE CAUGHT ROUND MY PROP IN MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN... ( Episode 203)

- We sail from Honduras to Mexico on the pacific side, and have a 6 day passage across the infamous Tehunatepec bay, where winds are renown as being the worst in the whole area. Along the way we pick up a line in the propeller in 16,000 ft of water, so the crew have to jump in, and the fear of sharks kicks in!
SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged Lagoon 450 catamaran, which Colin rebuilt with friends and has started sailing around the world. They found bulkhead damage on their catamaran in Panama, so have fixed her up, and are almost ready to cross the Pacific Ocean!!

Tip, next time you hook a Mahi, get another rod ready. Typically the mahi school. There’s likely more that will follow the one you have on the hook, and you can cast the other rod! Boom you’re on!
Get the next lure or bait in the water before you land the active one. That way they stick around.
This is true, but you better have a lot of freezer space!
There's literally never been an episode where I don't smile or laugh when Jamie laughs.
Love the content as always guys.
much love from Edinburgh, Scotland.
😊👍
Thanks for joining us in the live Premiere! Was fun chatting to you all!!
😘
It's a youtube channel, not TV, it doesn't need f'n previews
Hey guys! Where are you today IRL approximately 😊

Great episode, I wouldn't mind more maps with the track you're sailing along
what a superb coffee shot. Nice.
You guys need an enclosure for that helm station.
Or maybe the ability to be on watch and control the boat from the inside Nav station?
We live on a 30ton widebeam canal boat traveling the UK. Starlink changed the game. We can now moor in all the mobile phone black spots.
I can't stop smiling when I watch the episode's awesome
Thanks Brother
Love it channel n videos
Peace love Health n Happiness
Stay safe out there
Keep Sailing NEVER STOP !!!!!!
Great video guys. Glad you’re safe and out of that horrible lightning storm. Yeah land for the dogs!!! Cheers fellas
Thats why I love ropecutters (eg. HydroAxe) keeps the prop clear of lines and other stuff snagging up the prop.
Congrats on getting Startlink! Thanks for the footage and story telling. Keep Charging!
Great to see the dogs getting to run on the beach. Starlink rocks!
That beach - wow! Wishing you smooth sailing...
Loved Huatulco - beautiful bays in that area.
A couple years from now I’m going to get my own sail boat. I hope to god your still sailing then and I bump into you :)
good luck with your crossing and may you have fair winds and calm sea for your crossing
Golden epi! Stoked you guys finally got your starlink! You animals arrived in style to MX! Much love from the states and safe travels! Thanks for sharing!
What an adventure, so happy for all of you. Enjoy Mexico, your journey and the new Starlink.
Would not be surprised to see SVParlay, SVDelos and SV Basik buddy boat across the Pacific.
Wow, that was an amazing episode. Great sailing and it brings your excitement across. Phenomenal editing!
Colin! A long time coming! I started my viewership when you first purchased Parlay. What a journey! It is really happening for you.
Really enjoyed meeting you at the Miami boat show
And thanks for signing the hat!
What an adventure crossing the pacific!!!!!
Can’t wait for the new videos
Great episode! You are one of our favlritr channels to watch ❤
*Yay Colin, Better internet for you on board.... and you are finally getting closer to sailing Parlay towards Aotearoa New Zealand...*
Can you add those little cutting devices on the drive shaft that will cut line automatically? This is a popular fixture on inboard vessels here in Maine. lots of lobster pots around..
Man oh man what I would give to be part of the crew for that crossing. I am stoked for you. I've bee watching this since the real early days when you were fixing Parlay up. This is huge.
Been here 4 years??? Guys??? So awesome to see this happen!!! A+!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
Great episode as always
Good luck with the Mexico adventures and beyond👋🏼
Love the antics, love the authenticity, love the sushi, can’t wait for next video. Miss you guys🤗
got the full David Attenborough voice going at the end!
A tip from a very seasoned ocean sailor...you really should strongly consider running netting along your lifelines for the doggos..the passages in the Pacific are long and it is very easy for one or both of the dogs to slip overboard..seriously..take note....and a footnote...get used to lightning and squalls...lots to come.Good luck guys and I wish you all well.
Well done getting Starlink. Welcome to the club.
I started Cheering when you said finely made it I could see the excitement have fun stay safe guys
Hello from Siesta Key Florida
It's been pretty amazing to watch the production quality of these episodes improving over the years to the point it is today.
Glad you made it to Mexico✌️💜
that sunset was one of the most beautiful shots Ive seen in a long time thankyou🙏🏽 safe travels
Love it. Thanks for sharing adventure is like I was there, but not as scared as you guys were at lightning was intense.
Another good one...very good..go Parley
Awesome episode!!! The feeling of jumping in the water in the middle of the ocean must be unreal!!!
Yay, thanks for the new episode mate. Cheers.
Congratulations on getting to Mexico and not getting hit by lightning again😅 I am not a sailor I live in travel on a power boat. But I truly enjoy the information I get from you and your channel. I bought a sea water, Pro water maker, based on your recommendation. I am a living and traveling on my 70’ bower boat I have similar solar as in 10 360 W panels and also I have a 1000 amp hour 24 V lithium ion battery bank. I have been traveling down the coast of Florida for the last year and Been at anchor for one year as of April 1. I also have not had to run my generator so far this year. I am about to buy a 7 kW vertical wind generator. If you’re interested, I can keep you posted as to how that experiment works out. ? I also have had Starlink for almost 2 years, and it is amazing. I even went through two hurricanes last year at anchor, and never lost signal through the whole thing. I laugh at myself sitting in the salon of my yacht watching your episodes which I enjoy immensely keep up the great job I wish only the best for you and your crew.
Thinking about the immensity of the sea below you and the sky above. Some might sit in that seeming nothingness and bemoan how small and insignificant they are. But instead, y'all are making a veritable shout into that abyss and screaming, "We are humans and we matter!" And you are doing that through your memories and your friendships. Thanks for taking us along!
Looking forward to seeing what all the talk is about 😊
Awesome content and i love my Parlay Revival shirt.
Long time follower, we just left that Secrects resort on Mar 27th, probably just missed you. It would have been super cool to meet you & the crew. Cheers from Calgary Alberta
So how do you avoid parasites with fresh sushi? I know commercially in the usa they flash freeze and it kills ever thing harmful.
Gooday Brother! I love the outro with the cowboy song, a real piece of art! Keep an outro for every episode, "just like the intro" ;) but don't forget to ask...It really was a pleasure and an honour to be grinding on that beauty for a few days. Cheers from Canada and see ya all mates one day on the ocean...No grudge...Mr Anonymous
Wow never realized how much goes into sailing . Motor boating is so much easier 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad everyone made it to Mexico. Cheers Colin and Crew
I may not be there with you enjoying the ups and downs but I'm there with you. I have been subsrribed since you found the Cat with your partner. Don't again don't change your channel, I absolutely love it.
Great episode tonight. Nice sailing, epic adventures. You're having great fun and so have we, watching your videos. Thank you for sharing with us.
Great video as always that was one great fish you caught looking forward to watching the next episode 👍
Much better episode. Liked it! That Starlink is worth its weight in gold for sailing. Can't wait for you guys to do South East Asia and maybe even the Inside Passage Vancouver to Alaska - in summer only!.
That sunset, though!!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Nothing completes my weekend like watching you guys on Parley.
Awesome 👏🏻 thank you for filming and editing the passage. It will for sure help people understand longer passages. I am also delighted you now have starlink.
Delighted with your honesty and journey so far! Thank You 🙏🏼
Congrats Colin, Jamie, Tom and the rest of the crew on maki g it to Mexico. Long time in your dreams,
Wow, after almost 2 years I JUST caught up with you all... amazing!!!
Love watching your adventures, you have many fans traveling right there with you Colin! Looking forward to the Pacific! ⛵️
Welcome to the Starlink family. We started in the bata and have never looked back. We are full time RVer’s in America and it was a total game changer. Good luck and have fun in Puerto Vallarta. Just sold our condo there. Had it for 15 years. The town has drastically changed over the years but we still love it. Enjoy the Malecon.
Groovy episode......AGAIN!
14:37 - What a super shot that is. Doggo just having a nap.
Starlink is an absolute game changer. Looking forward to some live crosses while en route to NZ.
Been following this journey for years and am beyond excited for you guys - The dream is so close to becoming reality!
When landing mahimahi it's good to have an empty sail bag ready to drop the thrashing fish into. Calms them right down and reduces the chance of getting a hook in the leg.
Awesome work guys.
Always entertaining watching Parlay!!👍👍❤️ (You should invite Ashley M. aboard some day😻) LoL
Enjoy Starlink! But you want to set new rules and routines or it will change your overall mood and lifestyle quality on the boat. Part of the wonder of sailing the world is the disconnect
Epic adventures with epic people! ❤
Crossing the Pacific ocean is absolute craziness. I will be tuning in for sure as always.
I hope the changes to Star Link don't kill the internet for the Sailing Crews out there ???????????. Great Vlog
What a brilliant adventure! Thanks for bringing us all along. Safe travels, fair winds, and mellow seas
Guys I'm so happy to see ya'll finally moving toward the pacific, smooth sailing hopefully.
Hey! Glad you made it. And congrats on star link. That should be a huge improvement for you guys. When I made this trip on my 44’ mono, we had 20 plus kts in the face the whole was up to Bandaras Bay! There were a few nice stops along the way. Z-town one of them. I do hope you get some time to do the Sea of Cortez some. Amazing sea life and great cruising. But if your crossing the Pacific this season, that won’t happen. Ha ha.
Have you thought about roll down canvas on your dodger? I think it would make life a bit more comfortable.
Getting so pumped for you guys! The big crossing is finally about to happen
Just so, so happy for you Colin and crew getting to finally enjoy all of that extremely hot and hard work.
You and Jammy endured what can only be called inhumane torture with all of that fiberglass work and now finally are living the life.
You're living and doing the stuff of dreams and sharing it so brilliantly with us, thank you.
Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...
Oh wow, this is the Tehunatepec episode. Absolutely crazy weather area, storms begin in the Carib and cut across and then literately explode into the Pacific blowing you directly out to sea ! But there are breaks in the pattern. We give weather on 7.192 now at 14:30udt. If we know where you are we narrow it down. We've got 5 boats we talk to and happy to talk to more but license needed. One of my first emergencies was a boat that caught a larger net rope under the rudder ! That was a tough one for the old guy, he had to dive on it in rough seas and he was solo !
When the bay of Tehuantepec is windy is is best to hug the shore or 'sail by dog bark'. That means you are close enough to hear the dogs barking on the beach.
Amazing work!
Fantastic, That was a lucky drone drop not to mention the line in the prop.
Without those you wouldn't need a Star link.
This was an awesome video Colin!!!! Man you guys are having an adventure of a lifetime!!!! Happy traveling, Stay safe and i truly enjoy all of your video,s guys, Thanks for taking us along with ya on these fantastic voyages!!!! Till next Sunday, Smooth sailing guys!!!!!
I'm here from the article on you guys from the Latitudes and Attirudes magazine.
tagging along the vessel on your tow line, >>>>>>> you all might have looked like snacks ready to be gobbled up 👀👀🐊🦈
We’ll see you in Fiji. We will return to our boat later this month.
Spend serious time in Fakarava, Tikehau, Huahine, and Western Samoa. These were our favorites.
Great episode Colin. I can’t wait!
It's always fun to escape for the length of your episodes.
Beautiful editing! What an adventure.
Great vid guys.
Yep, Starlink is definitely is a game-changer!
Too bad you are going to miss the best places ever. The PNW and Alaska...but I get it. It's always an adventure watching this channel.😊
To be fair, New Zealand is basically the Pacific Northwest in the southern hemisphere. He grew up there, so there's not a lot of difference.
@ripn929707 I am sure it's beautiful. I would love to go to NZ one day. The San Juan's and up the inside passage to Alaska is just super special.
@@terrahmama It is beautiful 😍 I lived in the Seattle area for just over a decade. It's spectacular.
Hello guys! Hope all is well, keep sailing ⛵️✌️😎✌️
Enjoy the crossing!
Sushi combines various fresh fillings with vinegared rice. Do it when you need to feed so many people. Sashimi forever.
I’ve been following you for over three years. I think it’s time to patron up lol.
oh man... if not just for the epic patreon meetups! we had such a blast at the mexico meetup a couple weeks ago!
So glad you got there … the adventure continues .
Hello gang what a great episode. And I can’t believe the next Crossing will be even better. Keep the dream alive God I wish I was there, you have no idea what that means to me.!!!
Hanging on a rope behind the boat..lovely..in Australia we call it trolling for sharks using live bait !!!
Crossing the Indian Ocean we were becalmed for 9 days..all went swimming in miles deep water..with a guy on deck with a rifle just incase any biters showed up
Awesome episode ✅🐬⚓️🏖🌴☀️😎🇦🇺
Colin , I hope you read this before you leave PV Mexico!!! If you go out for the night for dinner I totally have to recommend a place called Tony’s Please, the best bacon rapped , stuffed prawns in garlic sauce in the world!! 🤤Steak medallion melt in your mouth you use a fork to cut them 😋
