I had the 702 version of this one a few years ago. Out of the box the barrel was crooked, shot ok with a scope, no go with the iron sights. Contacted Mossberg and they replaced the barrel and gave me 2 extra magazines for the inconvenience. It actually shot better with the new barrel than before. Good customer service, imo...

I really like the amount of detail that you go into for your videos. I purchased this thing a while back ago thinking it was just a cheap plinkster and it is, but it’s also an extremely reliable and well operating rifle and you can’t beat that price. This may not have all the bells and whistles but it’s still a quality firearm. The only thing you didn’t mention, which you’re probably aware of, is the manual bolt hold open that it has. When you pull the charging handle all the way back and then you press it in towards the receiver it will keep the bolt recessed for cleaning or inspection.

This tells us NOTHING about the accuracy of the GUN. This is one of those "why not" rifles to have. I have a couple extra scopes in my safe looking for a home. For anybody coming across this review that might be considering buying one of these. If you want to save yourself the issues of misfeeds and have proper gun operation from the start follow the manual that comes with the rifle. It tells you to basically clean off the oil in and on the rifle, clean the barrel, and lubricate it with actual gun oil. If you really want to, take it apart and just wipe it off and give it a CLP treatment and it should be good to go. The oil they coat it with is to prevent rust, much like a brake rotor, but it is very sticky and not very lubricating. Trust me, it's worth the 20 minutes. I use Gun grease on the bolt and slide surfaces (Mil-Comm TW25B) and light gun oil on the trigger andhammer springs and pivots as well as the striker. If you are going to be using it in cold weather, skip the grease and use straight gun oil.

I know this video is a few years old, but I just finally bought one for $109.00. I consider myself a flea market collector of 22 rifles. I have everything from an old Glenfield Marlin bolt action that cost a few dollars, Henry's for silhouette shoots, to a Bergara B14R and a bunch of modded out Ruger 10/22's in the $1000's. I love shooting 22's of all kinds. I actually love this little rifle for the money. I have made it my "truck gun". I bought an extra mag, put a cheapie Tasco scope on it, and have a couple of bricks of ammo in the truck. It shoots the same groups that you were shooting. I'm sure Rossi sent a couple that they knew would be accurate, but mine was off the shelf and straight from the store. Best $100 I ever spent on a 22.

I've been a fan for years,Ever since I bought me a new Saddle Gun in shorter barrel lever action 357 16in barrel.
Before that I thought Rossi was a cheap ass gun..man was I wrong.
This is a nice little 22 for a behind the seat truck gun.Im not a fan of the big sights on a rifle.Too hard to get a fine bead on target.A scope fixes that. Those fiber optic sights are fine for a hand gun ,but not so much on a small caliber in my opinion
I think this gun is a real winner.

Looks like CBC of Brasil makes this for Rossi and the Plinkster for Mossberg. So do you like "Chevy" or "Buick"? Same Assembly line for both, and CBC is doing the same thing. But this Rossi looks a little more "Adult" to me. I like the Cheek Rises and the fatter forend. Thanks again and Take Care.

Nice video Don. I just picked up the exact same pair for my Grandson's. It covers Christmas and birthdays. We took the youngest one to make sure it would fit. Time for Grandpa to show them the way, God knows the "donor" won't spend the time with them. 2AEDU speaks highly of your channel so I came here first for the review.

This gun seems a bit boring - If I was going with a cheaper 22 option - I think I would recommend the Marlin 60 it has history and character. If you prefer a magazine option go with the Marlin 795. If you have more money that you need to spend go with the Ruger 10/22.

Fman1292 - have you ever shoot a Marlin? They are freakishly accurate, made in Merica, and about the same price when bought on sale. (Maybe few bucks more)

He is very well versed on guns. He was taught safety well before he ever shot one and before I bought him one. My brother is Law enforcement and a good friend is a weapons instructor. He handles/shoots everything we take to the range from AR15's, 357, 44 mag, 45 and more so that message about him owning a 22 LR is quite laughable to me.

The day the grid breaks... the day when civil unrest escalate to a full-fledged war makes you question when it is safe to sleep... you can chose the government to protect you... or yourself with a simple .22 rifle like this.
