What are some games you feel or overlooked, underrated, or just need more love?
Uno DX on Sega Saturn is a Japan-exclusive game I keep coming back to. NOBODY ever talks about it. It has original anime characters, a high school setting, a story mode, it allows 1 or 2 players against 1 or multiple CPU opponents. There are 11 different characters, each with their own personality. It’s in Japanese, but a little use of a translate app on camera mode & you’re set.
- Kickle Cubicle and Solomon's Key on NES (though they also have good arcade originals).
- Turtles 3 Radical Rescue on Game Boy.
- Space Bomber and Bosconian on arcade (note the Bosconian references in Galaga 88/90!).
- Splosion Man / Ms Splosion Man on Xbox 360.
- Nex Machina and Huntdown on PS4.
- Guardian's Crusade for the PSX
- Superman: Man of Steel for the Genesis/Mega Drive
- Arc the Lad Collection for the PSX
Kendo Rage
- Tekken's Nina Williams in: Death by Degrees for PlayStation 2.
- Oni for PlayStation 2.
- Parasite Eve 1 & 2 for PlayStation and Parasite Eve: The 3rd Birthday for PlayStation Portable.
- Dark Cloud for PlayStation 2.
- Shadow Hearts: Covenant for PlayStation 2.
- Xenosaga Trilogy for PlayStation 2.
- Odin Sphere for PlayStation 2 with Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
- Breath Of Fire: Dragon Quarter for PlayStation 2.
- God Hand for PlayStation 2.
- Starblade Alpha for PlayStation.
- The Misadventures of Tron Bonne for PlayStation.
- The Legend of Dragoon for PlayStation.
- Legend of Legaia for PlayStation.
- Bushido Blade 1 & 2 for PlayStation.
- Vagrant Story for PlayStation.
- The Mansion of the Hidden Souls for Sega Saturn.
- Lunacy aka Torico for Sega Saturn.
- Maken X for Dreamcast.
I love the ending skit for this one!
🌫️ wow!
too this day when it is a foggy day i say "Looks like an N64 game out there!"
@@pengwin_I keep referencing Silent Hill, haha
"We LOVE Parallax Scrolling!" Yeah we do! WELCOME BACK!
Then do a video about games with parallax scrolling, dammit!
Parallax 1988 ish 18 years old a friend gets an amiga 500 and shadow of the beast. We saw parallax and it blew our minds.
Back.... GROUND!? 😁 I'll see myself out.
I absolutely love parallax scrolling and animated tile tricks, also sprite scaling. I'm a sucker for sprite scaling
What what!? He's never mentioned this before 😅
Oh man, that 8 mega power-song that came out of nowhere really cracked me up.
Also, big plus for the phrase "out dicking around like an idiot" lol
Never heard of that song before. But that was epic 🤘 🎵🎶
It's AI generated
@@ZILtoid1991 hm no wonder, shame it's not made by a real artist. DragonForce would definitely make something wild and crazy.
Hybrid Heaven is the strangest game I've ever had the privilege to play. It's almost like the game designer had three ideas (Rpg, fighting game and survival action) and didn't know which one to focus on. Normally this would be a death sentence for a game but somehow they managed to make it work.
Hence Hybrid? 🤷♂️
I just have to say that I realy appreciate Joe's consistancy in regards to upload-time.
I can safely assume that each new episode will be uploaded at the exact same time each Sunday morning (European time) to the second, without fail.
It's these little things that elevate this channel above many others.
Hello European fellow!
I'm here in the Central US, and new episodes show up around midnight. I'm usually up that late on a Saturday night anyway, so it works out perfectly for me. Nothing like having a drink or five and enjoying the latest episode of Game Sack! 😛
plus the name is funny
"Dave White Forever: The Exasperated But Not Quite Angry Edition" is the black sheep of the series and criminally overlooked.
I heard it's Bob Cornhole's favourite.
@@BenderRodriguz
No that would be the "Shell To The PS2".
@@nobodycares9579 Omg, Shell to The PS2? What a hidden gem!
@@tommylakindasorta3068 Well I don't think that's actually a game but that's just fine!
"don't overlook it unless you just rather not have fun, and i know some of you don't like fun especially if it's not on your favourite console" You said everything!
The Sack is Back!
9:37 Master of Monsters looks really cool! Can't believe this was never on my radar!
I grew up playing it, it's AWESOME both in the single-player campaigns and multi-player with friends...the only downside is that it doesn't have element-based weaknesses like modern strategy games, but it was a VERY early strategy game.
That's easily my favorite skit to date.
Thanks for another solid video.
The Dungeons & Dragons Skit was by far my favorite he's produced.
Me, seeing new Game Sack:
CZcams: We happy?
Yeah, we happy.
Game Sack is my favorite game reviewer
Bomberman Hero is my favorite in the series. Glad to see it get some recognition.
Unbelievable soundtrack!
Did you know he can jump in it?
the 80s power metal vocals rock lol
Master Of Monsters is one of my favorite Genesis games. The soundtrack is beautiful and really fits the game nicely.
There should be an extended version of the 8 mega power song, it was really good haha.
I love how Joe is basically like "you suck if you don't like these games" and I'm like "I barely knew about most of these in the first place, gimme a break!" and Joe's like "okay" because he's a decent human being.
At least, he seems like a decent human being. I could be wrong.
I hear he buys hamsters from pet stores and then he eats them. Seems kind of fishy to me.
Master of Monsters is absolutely worth playing for the music alone, might even be a top 5 soundtrack on that system. Sakimoto was pumping out some absolute bangers in the 16bit era. And while I'm on the subject of music, I find it interesting that the Bomberman franchise completely embraced Jungle and Drum & Bass for a while.
"And I know some of you don't like fun."
Sadly, though, it's true. Nowadays, it's more about being competitive and trying to prove something. Fun has left the building.
Starting off with Atomic Runner! Nice.
That 8 mega power song was freaking hysterical 😅
Right off the bat, Atomic Runner is most definitely a gem.
Great video, Joe. 10/10 work.
Now that I've commented for the algorithm, time to actually watch the video.
Master of Monsters looks like one of those rare games on the system that just stood out but sadly didn't get a lot of traction. Quite liked your bit at the end as it was the game that caught my attention most and it actually looks really good. Shame about the arbitrary turn number.
The N64 was a great console, it's just a shame Silent Hill came out on the ps1 and revolutionized fog-based graphics forever. Completely spoiling us. Great episode, Joe. Thanks again for making my sunday breakfasts enjoyable.
scientists: computing fog simulations is too hard!
n64: hold my controller pak
I remember actually been impressed back in the day. Most games used a transparet 2d layer to fake the fog, but on the N64 it looked more realistic. I specially loved Wave Race 64 in "Drake´s Lake" how the fog progresively fades out and then the track gets cleaner and brighter.
Lord Monarch for the Mega Drive is a knockout game nobody talks about.
Love the fog coming out of your shirt and the little puff at the end, ha ha.
Very realistic i must say.
Funny thing I've actually encountered a Cosmo Gang redemption game once. It's basically the same as the bonus levels in Cosmo Gang The Video with the differences being you have a pivoting gun, its two players, and you had to hit a light sensor in their mouths. Still it is fun to see that mechanical wonder.
Came here to say the same thing, hadn’t thought about that arcade game in years until this video jogged my memory
Warriors on the the PS2. 100% overlooked and 100% amazing
Thanks for great list of games🎉. My suggestion for next will be:
-Sylvan Tale - Game Gear. Recently played this japan exclusive title with fan english translation and this is BRILLIANT. This game is an top-down Zelda-like action RPG that has transformation mechanic like WonderBoy III and really good SN76489 tunes.
-Nadia and the Secret of Blue Water - Sega Mega Drive. Also japan exclusive title with fan translation. This was the game based on anime series but have story difference's because uses some older scripts and released before anime ends. Gameplay is some mix of RPG and Quest genres.
-Urusei Yatsura:Dear My Friends - Sega CD. Also japan exclusive but recently was translated. This is really fun point-and-click quest based on very popular anime. And made by GameArts! Despite that, I don't hear people even mention this game. But it really worth it so check it out.
Just covered Nadia in the Left in Japan episode two weeks ago! :)
@@GameSack Ok. Thanks for answer. Somehow I miss this video xD
Always ready for some more sack!
wow! the new fog 64 skit might be my new favorite ending skit of all time. i was dying. so true as well!
Great video Joe, glad to have GS episodes during Sunday
Nintendo 64 had realism down and you only realize this as you get older and start seeing foggy and blurry.
Hey look everybody, it's the "internet zoomer funny guy"
The N64 skit had me rollin! Always stay til the end. Joe, you rock!
8 mega power 😂 loved it Joe
Always love the "Hidden Gems" videos.
As a serial jaywalker, I feel I should apologize for overlooking these games.
You know a vertical shooter has to be something special when even joe loves it
Ah, Galaga '88 is my jam. I played the heck out of it in our Namco Museum collection, but a couple years back I discovered my uncle had it on an arcade machine.
Still got it myself! All except my OG controllers have long since died and the 3rd party replacements are mediocre at best.. A good alternative is Galaga Arrangement on
PSP tho
Nice job with the Octopath Traveler music at the end there! Criminally underrated soundtrack that one!
bloody hell Joe. Nearly clocked galaga so hard you were almost visited by aliens and dragged into the last Starfighter.
Hahaha! That n64 ad at the end was perfect! I felt the same way back when the thing came out!
Great ending skit, as usual :)
I've been playing Atomic Runner a lot these days, and I agree it's awesome in every aspect. It's shocking that everyone seems to ignore it even exists.
New sack!
Great selection of games.
Yeah Joe! Hello and Welcome to Game Sack!!!
Hell yeah, always good to see more love for Bomberman Hero. I'll have to try Thunderstrike with the Mission Stick.
New game sack on forth of July weekend is a perfect addition to it.
That 8 megas metal bit was gold
Great stuff. Joe is knocking it out of the park once again. Cheers, Joe, for all your hard work as it's greatly appreciated by myself and many others.
"We're over that nonsense now, we just want good games!"
Amen brother!
Yet another banger video, this time with an '8 Mega Power!' theme song! And that skit at the end.... priceless. Thanks for still making these videos, I've been enjoying them for the past 13 years you've been doing this.
The rocking "8 mega power. Kind of a lot for a game like this!" Was amazing. I wanna know how you did that. Heh.
"I like parallax scrolling" is the same as "Kel loves orange soda"
He said KOJIMA. now I have to play it.
Kojima was only a Producer in credits: he in reality mostly had very little to do with the game. Kojima was working on Pre-production of Metal Gear Solid 2 at that time, and it was only some of his staff which worked on the game with another team.
“Man, I wish nobody talked about games ever. That sure would make this hobby a lot easier to gatekeep.” LOL
That ending skit 🤣
I got so excited when I saw Hybrid Heaven on the screen in the intro; such an incredible game!
Awesome, straightforward content as always, keep ‘em coming Joe!
That 8 Megapower song was hilariously epic haha!
Great video, Joe. Remember: all is well that ends well.
Finally a shoutout to Bomberman Hero!! I’ve spent so many hours playing this game. The soundtrack is perfection.
Fog simulator was kinda cool for a while. It reminds me of around 2007 when game developers thought Bloom was all the rage. I couldn't play games with it blurring the screen for it would bother my eyes. In the way it was often implemented it was too constant as if they wanted you to know what it's like to have cloudy vision problems.
Great, now that 8 mega power song is going to be stuck in my head all week.
I love this channel I almost consider removing ad blocker just to support y'all
What better way to start your Sunday, than with a Game Sack episode.
I love Atomic Runner, but it's hard as balls.
Joe, you should release these sketches as a combined video! This N64 one is amazing! You're a great comedic writer!
Absolutely love Bomberman Hero, I collected everything and unlocked the bonus levels
Same, I really loved that Bomberman Hero on 64 - the graphics, music and worlds were really enjoyable. BTW: nice to see you still active on here, I remember really liking your videos back in the day when I had my own videogame channel. Hope life's treating you well.
Yo Joe, can you maybe include some underrated Neo Geo games in future episodes of this?
Bio hazard battle on genesis/megadrive should be a great overlooked game in the next episode ☺
Oh damn, the eight meg song is a banger. Crossfire! You'll get caught up in the... crossfire!
Love your work, Joe! This is just amazing. The amount of effort you put into your videos is just unbelievable! The ending skit was really fun. The day there's a new Gamesack episode is the best day of the week!
Also, somehow I thought that the Sega Genesis' version of Atomic Runner is an inferior arcade port. Now I know it's anything but. It's time to play it, thanks!
At the end when he says wow blowing smoke out is priceless. It's 6 in the morning. I burst out laughing
Ending skit is great, just like the last episode. Always a good watch; thanks Joe!
Hybrid Heaven is one of my favorite RPG’s of all time. So underrated.
Yesssss
seriously, thank you so much for making these videos. its interesting to me and i like your opinions. getting me through so extremely hard times right now, keep rockin!!
We are going to need a full version of the Mega-Power song.
These videos have a tendency to show up at the precise moment I'm in the mood for one.
Fog bit at the end is icing on the cake
24:39 It's true, muddy graphics and colours WERE the future! ...unfortunately.
Vasteel on the PC Engine/ TG16.
It's a great strategy combat hybrid with cinematics.
You pick different types of mechs, each with strengths and weaknesses and geared to specific types of terrain.
The terrain also offers penalties or bonuses.
And when units engage, it becomes a combat/ action game where your unit gains bonuses or penalties from the terrain.
The graphics are fairly well done and the gameplay doesn't take a lot to just pick up and learn.
I know Military Madness gets all the glory as the best strategy game for the PCE/ TG16 but Vasteel definitely deserves an honorable mention.
Atomic Runner looks incredible imo. The devs used a ton of real world examples of ancient civilizations and they nailed it.
game sack video time to stop what I'm doing and watch
Great video
Nice job with no spoilers on Hybrid Heaven
The Fog in the skit lol
Funny thing is I think it helps with the setting and mystery of Turok.
Fantastic video...and the final gag was one of the best i ever watched on this channel!
Criminally overlooked games I like a lot:
- Ganbare Goemon 2, 3 and 4 on the Super Famicom
- Gundam Wing Endless Duel on Super Famicom
- Marvel Superheroes War of the Gems on SNES.
- Ghost Sweeper Mikami on Super Famicom.
Fantastic recommendations. The 3 Goemon sequels on SFC are brilliant.
Great list!
Hybrid Heaven is PHENOMENAL!!!! The boss theme "Fight Hard!" is otherworldly!
Some great picks in this one! I hosted score competitions for both Chelnov and Galaga 90 in the past year. Will definitely be revisiting both of them for future challenges on the arcade versions
they had cosmo gag at a arcade near me growing up always wondered what that game was called and now i know i just have vivid memories of the pink guys
I been binge watching Game Sack the past week so it's nice to see a new upload. Cheers
Overlooked game on the Genesis: Granada. I think most retro gaming and shooter enthusiasts will be familiar with it, but the general gaming audience has probably never heard of it. Truly a legendary shooter IMO.
Atomic Runner was at our local rental shop and was one that my friend and I frequently rented working our way through it. I was excited when it showed up on genesis mini 2 as I had forgotten how much I loved that game.
After rewatching all of game sack I got a couple of ideas.
Episode on good and bad bonus stages. This was after seeing an episode which has sonic 2 on the master system I think, and how you just let the timer run out on the bonus level you hate it that much.
Another is a sort of update of older videos where new games have been released. For example, i think it was the best and worse of the franchise episode for metroid and dave said they need to bring a new metroid game for the switch... Well they did.
@StRoRo no one is listening to you nor cares what you have to say bozo
Nice Skitt - embrace the Fog 😅
“Criminally Overlooked Games”
“This is Hybrid Heaven…”
Yes SIRRRRRR!!!
I am ashamed of myself for not knowing about these games...
As long as you realize
Robot Alchemic Drive, it's alot of anime drivel with terrible voice acting - but the gameplay is super fun and they really nailed the feel of huge robots fighting in a city! Really unique game that I'd love to see a sequel or re-release of.
I literally use "On a scale of one to ten, its like a Nintendo 64 game!" as an indicator to tell people how bad the fog is outside.
