Thank You Anna. It is a classic romance. Boy meets girl. Then boy murders his opponents and carries out the biggest heist in history, and invades other countries causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people. Then boy dumps girl and meets another girl and lives happily ever after in his golden palace. The Putin regime, Muscovy and the Russkiy Mir do represent traditional values...of the Mongol Empire (no disrespect intended to modern Mongolia). It is not a coincidence that Putin was photographed bare-chested on horseback. I'd be interested in more details of the hypocrisy of the Muscovite elite, who insult the 'rotting West' while sending their families there to live in luxury using money stolen from Moscow's vassal territories.
It is mind boggling that someone who dresses like one of the village people has a mistress... :-)

As an Italian, I feel deep shame at the behavior of some of our artists, such as Pupo who recently flew to Moscow for concerts, in his words "a contribution to bring peace," or like Jorit, author of the shameful wall painting in Mariupol depicting a little girl's face against the background of NATO-labeled bombs.
Deep anti-Americanism, nostalgia for the applause of distant concerts or the most trivial desire for money passes shamelessly over the skin of Ukrainians who are so heroically resisting the Russian invader. Unfortunately for some people these values are irrelevant showing themselves for the monsters they are.
As an Italian, I apologize for the monsters who infest my country.

There is definitely a lot of anti-NATO/USA/UK attitudes in southern Europe, I used to live in Spain and as a Brit I got the distinct impression that most Spaniards had the view that the problems of the world are alllll due to US hegemony - and by extension the UK/anglosphere and NATO. There were pro-Russian feelings even then when I lived in Spain (2010s) enhanced by increases in Russians migrating and settling in Spain. With Spain, I think the colonial rivalry with England fosters a great antithesis to the Anglosphere, which obviously supplanted Spanish and French dominance. It doesn't surprise me that many in southern Europe have anti NATO and more pro-Russian opinions. They are ripe for Russian propaganda. I hope you reeducate them!

The problem is that most people here are just absolutely clueless about Russia. We learn so much about American history in school. American culture and American history are omnipresent in media and culture. And the US does indeed have some dark spots in its history like slavery, the native American genocide, the Vietnam and Iraq wars.
The problem is that people see all these bad parts about the US and get to the utterly wrong conclusion that somehow the US is worse than Russia, because they are absolutely clueless about Russia. We don't learn anything about Russian history besides WW2 and the Cold War.

My grandfather, who left Ukraine in 1923 at the age 15 had that same photo framed in basement of Taras Shevchenko As a child, I had no idea who it was but was always in awe of it.

Ornella Muti's grandmather was from Leningrad, (ST. Pitersburg)
they where Baltic Germans from Estonia. In Tsarist time a lot of those Baltic Germans had important positions in the Russian administration and a lot of them lived in and around St. Petersburg. Later they fled from the Bolsheviks back to Estonia.

A friend who was born in Russia (She's a US Naval Officer, very pro-Ukrainian) she flew at TOPGUN, and as a test pilot flew MiG-29s, Su-27s etc.
Putin in his younger days idolized Russian test pilots even since they visited East Germany in the 80s, including her father (who flew MiG-25s and MiG-31s.)
You can imagine the irony of the young girl at airshows in East Germany, (and Moscow, being the same pilot who is flying F-16s, including those with a Ukrainian F-16 pilot on her wing.
Yes, the Navy fly F-16s as adversary fighters, and some test pilots fly F-16s in other roles.
