At 7:00 ~ 7:13 the diesel is easy to see, it is red in the surf on the port stern.
at 7:45 it does look like some purple fluid is in the water! Thanks for the video, I really like that new "yacht spot" part at the beginning!
Red dye diesel
@@toddwilliams5905 - Or some kind of hydraulic fluid. Red dye diesel should not be in a personal yacht.
@@OMGWTFLOLSMH No tax and it is "off road"🤣
Fyi: many cameras and phones encode the geo-location into the photo that you can easily retrive.
👍 ! From Ohio! USA 🇺🇸!
There is no boom on Maui. One is being sourced from Oahu and brought to Maui. Other news reports stated the mooring line parted due to high winds in the early morning around 0530. There has been a Kona Low passing by Maui this week.
Must have been some blow. Maui is renowned for high wind, "Maui glass" is when the wind is under 20 knots or so. How effective is a boom if the waves get bigger than shoulder high?
Looks like more diesel than should be in the bilge. The boom is going to have problems in the surf.
Kahului harbor, on the other side of Maui has oil spill response equipment. They could have just driven over there in about 30 minutes. Penco spill response.
@@rudykok9522 Well, pumping the bilge in protected waters? Not to mention that it was contaminated with diesel? (you can see it between the boat and shore in some shots) Thats gonna be a BIG fine. Bet the boat is impounded until they cough up the moolah. Wouldn't be surprised if they ban the boat from ALL protected Hawaiian waters.
Nobody cares John it’s just a boat. The weather and all the terminology is just really gay and nobody cares about a Kona low it’s 100% gay.
Another good video ⛵️🚤🛥👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
M/Y Viva is gorgeous. I thought I preferred 2-tone color schemes but Viva's all white hull really shows off her sleek lines. Beautiful vessel.
Again, interesting stuff, thank you!
YaY, Yacht Seize New!!
Thanks for this. The red tint on the water near the stern of MY Natala (sp?) is likely transmission fluid, not diesel fuel. This vessel is likely equipped with Borg-Warner Velvet Drive transmissions which require Dextron II lubricant, or equivalent, and Dextron ATF is red in color. With the vessel banging into the rocks, the prop and prop shafts have likely been bent or broken, causing the failure of the main seal at the rear of one or both transmissions. Failure of the rear main prop shaft seals would allow ATF into the bilge, which would then be pumped out and cause the red slick.
if thats true, he's more buggered than people think (the claim was diesel) Not only fined but buggered his boat as well.
There’s more than likely the reality of it
And judging by the obvious red tinge, the quantity is much more than the claimed bilge water; they were pumping straight atf out.
It's MY Nakoa, and locals report the smell of diesel as well. If the red fluid is ATF then it's leaking both.
@@WhiteWolf65 - Oh, the boat is buggered alright, it's at the bottom of the ocean now. The salvage company screwed up big-time.
Captain must be googan of the week 😆👏👍
Honolua bay is a world class surf spot. Crew better lay low
👋 THANKS FOR TODAY’s stories ESYSMAN …we are stuck 😅 for future stories 😁💚💚💚
With Gilligan and the Skipper too, it was a 3 hr tour 3 hr tour oooooohhh😮😮😮😮
The Nakoa is apparently one of two yachts owned by Jim Jones, not directly but by his company Noelani Yacht Charters. It's based on Honolulu, and especially if he's been in business in the islands for any length time I don't believe for one moment he didn't know there was restricted anchorage in Honolua Bay. It's a famous surfing spot, which is one reason so many people are angry about this over and above the environmental damage. He must have known. I bet he just wanted to spend a couple of days there with his family -- it was not chartered at the time, and if there was a regular captain other than the owner no one has mentioned he was aboard -- and figured it would be easier to ask forgiveness than permission. And he'd have gotten away with it most likely, had he not screwed up.
I'm not confident the mooring line really snapped either. Can you imagine a charter boat with its lines in such poor condition that they'd part even when they're not being used in rough weather? Suppose something like this happened with guests on board. It would be a nightmare in the best of times.
Perhaps someone got stoned and missed it🤪🤪
I like yacht spots👍👍thanks for ur service 👍👍👍
Yikes. Local or state or Fed authorities charged with responding must have been surfing instead? Or late report from skipper of grounded vessel? Crikey. Another gem from eSysmen. Top-shelf content, production, quality and presentation. Cheers.
I especially love those ships that swoop down on the bow like that blue one...
You can see the Plantation Course at Kapalua in the background of that Yacht in Maui, Honoloa is right north east of Kapalua. Although it looks like it's more Mokuleia bay than Honoloa but those rocks sort of separate the two.
Yes! Great hole #18 par 5. Did golf school twice there.
Keep working. Good luck! 👍
If you only recall one thing from this video, eSysman wants you to remember that he knew M/Y _Axioma_ was headed to Turkey all along and that's where it's currently located. 😉
Tugboat using a sail? Must have some epic god level sailors for a crew.
Heck, the 'tugs' in harbors in the days of sail were row-boats with many stout men at the oars (could even be convicts - hard labor work)
M/Y Kensho is an incredibly striking vessel and another new superyacht using some colour. That's a trend I can get behind. When the camera comes along broadside with M/Y Viva it looks like a massive building because of the windows, spectacular vessel. I remember when those photos of M/Y Kismet in London were on here before, fantastic shots. M/Y Pacific X has a unique design, I like it!
The support vessel for M/Y Axioma has the most squared bow I think I've ever seen. It must handle like a brick. I hope there is no negative environmental impact from that boat in Hawaii. We always seem to grossly overestimate the amount of a liquid that has been spilled, especially those liquids which contain oil. The true amount of the "marked" diesel we saw in the water is most likely much less than we think. Another terrific episode, my thanks to the eSysman team.
axioma support vessel is a catamaran so it will actually handle really well
@@richardthomson4693 Is it really a cat? I guess I have never seen her from the right angle. Yeah, handling that boat would be an entirely different experience. Thanks!
hello
check the low tide frames that is alot of red deisel..!!
Strange that the yacht aground in Hawaii that supposedly dragged anchor was shown with no anchor/chain down.
One possible explanation is most/ a lot of US Marine reserves/etc.. place mooring buoys so that anchoring is avoided. I listened to an interview w/ the "captain"/owner...he was very loose with his nautical terms. So, I'm of the mind that the yacht could have been moored not anchored. However, the yacht is pretty large/heavy. I was on 2 sailing yachts of ~100 tons/~70 feet that were often too heavy to use mooring balls in many sanctuaries/etc we visited. We would have to anchor in the water just outside the designated area. So who knows! Btw I haven't looked at pics to see if there is an anchor secured on the bow.
Given the hull form, anchor may be deployed from beneath the water line.
@@williamlloyd3769 At 10:04 you can see the anchor retracted up tight to the bow, you can also see a windlass and chain gulley on the foredeck from some of the overhead drone shots.
@@billywhizz6483 reports are it was a mooring lined that snapped. So they were not utilizing their anchor.
@@Regal2800 also if you look on deck there is no remains or a mooring line on the cleats, but also the lines on deck are neat and tidy, not like a mooring was suddenly let go... something doesnt quite add up for me
Watch all your….. videos?? Reminder to like 👍 is appreciated. I liked this one 👍
Probably worth mentioning, Kismet was the yacht with the amazing magnet action scene in the Ryan Reynolds movie 6 Underground.
Thats a rental boat in Hawaii there were 8 people on board the news said he charters it out look it up on the website
OW... bet they pull his rental/charter license, and ban him from ANY protected waters, if not from Hawaiian waters as a whole. And they will probably impound the boat until he pays up. UNLESS... he has "Influential Friends" (hope not)
"...can end up with a SMALL AMOUNT of diesel in it.( the bilge)" Take a look at 6:55. More then a small amount under the port quarter there!
If they pulled anchor before checking the engine room and having the yacht started, then whoever was in charge doesn't need to be conning a yacht. Also, in this video, you could see the bilge pump is still pumping water out.
These other superyachts seem like dinghys near Scheherazade
I’m so glad I’m not the Captain or Owner of that vessel!
Two weeks ago I was moored next to Nakoa in Lahaina. We nicknamed the boat "Disco Bob" because they made a lot of noise late night and had a disco nite lighting scheme. BTW got pics. It is unfortunate that Maui has never prepared for this type of accident.
Look’s like it’s beached, hopefully not to much damage to it and the environment. 🇬🇧
I'd like to suggest that you put the "yotspot" clips at the end of your videos, and lead with the "news".
It’s his show.
Looks to be more than a little fuel as you can see the water is red in that short clip, shouldn't be gals in the bilge. Interesting
Some possible explanations:
1. There is no boom around the vessel because it is in the surfline where breaking waves may very well thrash it on to the shore.
2. A rookie error by the owner/captain, he pulled the anchor before starting the engines.
Still sad to see such a beautiful vessel aground :(
Oh yes…boo hoo !
Oh yes…boo hoo !
Rookie indeed!
I am sad to see such beautiful Ocean, and reef being polluted and destroyed by an ignorant maneuver!!! Forget the Boat!!
I know the owner of the yacht in Maui. I designed all electrical, controls, lighting, sound and security for his house in Indiana, USA.
24/7 Salvage would be in order about yesterday. Island vs mainland response times.
Is there a difference (in handling etc) with the more usual foreward tilting stem post and the vertical and rearward leaning stem post?? I realise that the bulbous bow underwater improves the top speeds in a displacement hull, is the cant of the stem science, engineering or art?
Thread Hijack:
MaryAnn over Ginger. (sorry but the "Skipper" thing flashed me back to my teen years.) and MaryAnn got me thru them.
( hijack over)
You do have good 'intel' and sources eSysman. I would not want to be hiding out from you in any nautical environment. Mention of Scheherazade has me wondering what's up with her and where she reportedly is these days. I love how you have various vessels in the background or beside others in your videos and then show the 'then and now'. Most unfortunate about the yacht in Maui in a protected area. Hope there is news that she is pulled out of there with minimal environmental impact soon.
Aye aye! Captain has some mega fines and his boat is a assault bio weapon.
@@allenschmitz9644 Agreed. Pumping the bilge in a protected area? BIG fine there. Add that it was contaminated with diesel... That he stayed beyond posted anchor limits? AND that he up-anchor'd before starting the engine?
(~someone~ must have...) And no watch posted to warn him while he was below? Very Bad Boating Skillz.
Can’t wait to see what the fines are going to cost the owner of the yacht that ran aground., not to mention the mitigation and remediation costs.
Do you get excited over other peoples misfortunes?
Negligence is not misfortune.
@@Phuc_Yhou of course it is. The hospital is full of people who didn’t live right, eat right or drive right or whatever
Hawaii - when the boat is bigger than your skill level. nice job getting that anchor back - ( sarcasm )
Cap'n: omg. What did we throw overboard if it wasnt the anchor?
First yacht location is Capri, anchorage to the south of the island.
11:07 Red is visible in the water on the land side of the boat
I remember when my yacht ran ashore, fortunately I didn’t have the EPA or Coast Guard breathing down my neck. WOW than I turned age seven and ended up getting into rocket 🚀 ships….
IF "the difference between men and boys... is the price of their toys"
it sounds like this guy may be the proud owner of a VERY EXPENSIVE 'toy' :-s
Maybe move on from that toy , though they are fun. Certainly that toy won’t be used for a while.
around 7:45 you can actually see the red stain on the water, supposedly the diesel fuel, but if you can actually see the color of the fuel, not just the refracted light because of the thin film on the water surface, I'd say that the amount wasn't that small, couple buckets at least would be my guess to make it look red in the water, though I'm not sure what constitutes "small amount" in this context
Axioma may have been tugged around because of Fuel delivery restrictions. It may not be a technical engine problem.
With waves coming in
It wont stop any leaks.
Pretty sure I can afford a MY 16ft all Aluminum hull, with a massive 60 HP motor and a cruse range of about 60 miles. Just saying.
Awesome to watch and hear about these Motor Yachts of my dreams.
Booms don't really work well in surf impact zones.
you can see fuel leaking as the water has a reddish tinge.
I the USA deaisl is treated with a red diy (time stamp 1301) you can see the red diy in the water (between the boat and the shore)
I guess that boat that is stuck is a fiberglass one or aluminum?
What's the reason for the forward pointing bow?
Those look like very nice CG renderings of Kensho - hence location unknown. I could scrutinize more but check out the upper aft deck. Some shots have poles on the corners others don’t.
They are not renderings.
@@eSysmanSuperYachts are the photo sources mixed? Because the posts on the 4th deck disappear. They are removable but it’s a task. The paint on the hull is otherworldly in real life giving a CG look. I stand corrected and will delete the comment tomorrow if no one else chimes in. Thanks. Note the aft 4th deck posts at 00:10 00:16 00:24 and 00:36
Question: is it common practive if near shore, to lift anchor before doing engine checks and starting engine? Seems more sensible to lift anchor at last minute after everything else has been done, especially if your are near a rocky shore. or does starting engine require anchor be lifted first ?
I would think that common practice would have the anchor lifted last after any checks and the engine started and all ready to go out of the area especially if near a rocky shore.
Unless it's a REALLY odd setup, there is no "interlock" preventing starting the engines before lifting the anchor. In fact for most boats, the thing to do is move towards the anchor(at a dead slow speed) while hauling it up. Makes life a LOT easier on the winch!
Welcome to America.
It should be common practice to go on a skippers course too. That way you are taught to read maps and know the rules and regs of the area you are visiting.
Looks like a whopper of a mistake. I am glad to hear no one was hurt. Hopefully the environment is going to snap back .
Do you know if any of the ship yards or Yachts under construction in Turkey had any damage due to the earthquakes I know Bering yachts is in Turkey
Jim Jones, the former San Diego Chargers football coach and University of Hawaii football coach? Amazing.
That was not mentioned.
Isn't that June Jones, not Jim?
Is that yacht that ran aground actually 94ft? It looks so small.
94 foot yaght big yaght
More likely hydraulique oil leaking from the boat in Maui ?
The video shows the water being quite red. I'm no professional mariner but that doesn't look like a "small amount" of diesel to me.
I used to surf Honolua Bay weekly. If that yacht damaged the reef, that owner may VERY well dissapear if he doesn't leave Hawaii soon.
Why do you think Axioma was towed and not driven under its own power?
In other words, the leaking diesel, without a boom, will disperse back into the ocean, back to mother earth from where it came.
Why do some yachts have the swept back bow instead of the traditional looking one? Aesthetics? Some kind of difference in performance? It probably makes it easier to go through the fast food drive through. 😅
Pink waves tells me it wasn't a _small_ amount of diesel spilled. A few hundred gallons, at least. Shouldn't be that much sloshing around in the bilges.
Under sail is an old school term for under way.
It didn’t say under sail. It said underway by sail. On any AIS it gives a drop down menu of things to select. He should have selected ‘underway using engines’
Obviously one should protect aquatic sanctuaries -- however (I'm curious), how frequently are motor yachts either controlled, sanctioned or seized -- for various reasons, including infractions or ownership origins? (this does seem to be a bit of a trending theme lately) ... If I am wrong, please correct me :)
Booms only work in completely calm water
Can you put time stamps on the videos, please? Not bothered about the yotspot section and would like to skip it. 👍
If the next high tide isn't able to get them the relief they need they may need to wait it out until the next full moon on Mar. 7 which will bring a higher than normal tide
any news on flying fox
Under sail or sale?
Whers are the gun portals????
Marine diesel is blue, ag.diesel is red
Sit happens.
How is a non-docked vessel with AIS turned off not considered a shipping hazard?
Great video. Yas Marina, was thinking about Max's win. You must have seen the car unveils. Do you think Mercedes has come with a viable car? Will Lewis get his 8th world champ this year? Do you think George Russell will outperform Lewis?
Is the Flash faster than Superman?
According to the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), day-use moorings are limited to two hours. The department is still looking into the incident. #Maui Seriously who drives a boat this size into a protected bay????After efforts to remove the yacht during the Monday afternoon high tide failed, the U.S. Coast Guard “federalized” the boat on Tuesday, meaning it can’t be moved until all fuel, batteries and any other pollutants on board are taken off, DLNR said.
You can't place a boom in the waves so close to the beach...
That was a lot of diesel
Why was the "diesel" fuel red in colour? Red diesel is normally tax exempt and for specific usage only, farm equipment. etc. It should NOT be in a personal yacht.
A boom in breaking waves would have no functional effect whatsoever. The breaking waves would wask any diesel past the boom anyway.
Beautiful boat, now is sleeping with the fishes.
I wonder if the guy will have to sell the boat to pay for the cleanup and salvage. Maybe liability insurance will cover part.
Waves breaking right there so the booms would not work
Tides are not much help in Maui. a three foot tide is normal.
Booms don’t work!
Who on board makes the decision to turn off AIS?
Only one person can make a decision like that: captain.
@@eSysmanSuperYachts thank you
7:00 oh yeah well if jim offers you any coolaid I would decline the offer
PPP equals PPP. Those engines will need to be proved blown or the skipper will roll.
I hope the guy who owns the boat in Hawaii has good insurance.
I would be interested to find out if the beached boat owner is prosecuted for not just the fuel spill but also for outstaying his welcome. As Judge Jady says ignorance of the Law is not an excuse. .
Tack on the " Pumping the Bilge in Protected Waters." thats gonna cost.
@@WhiteWolf65 I hope the people trying to protect the area get any fines to clean up.
In the grand scheme of things, a little "film" of diesel is nothing.
If there's enough diesel in the water to show that red color, that's many, many gallons. That's not a minor spill from the bilge. A diesel tank is clearly compromised, a real environmental disaster for this protected area. Chances are great that water is coming in, and diesel is going out. Only the rocks are keeping it from sinking. If that boat is fiberglass, then the keel is being slowly sawed in half by the wave action against the rocks. This happened to the Nordhavn "Ghost Rider" a few years ago. Stupid move on the captain's part to leave the helm unattended near a rocky lee shore. What the hell was he thinking?
The owner is Jim Jones? The cult leader? Is he back?
Jim Jones?? You're kidding me right??
