      @@Camwin True that, Im Maori but we weren't taught it in school, learning now but slowly getting there as a lot of us are, I watch Te Karere on TVNZ website as they have subtitles, ka pai

    People let emotions cloud judgement. Congrats on inclusivity but making a statement is not grounds for winning. Matatini groups are always making statements of impact

      I agree but I don't think that's the case here, they didn't place in finals. That's the great thing here though, Māori are able to incorporate these statements without blinking. This had such an impact because of our current society, but Māori have "challenged gender norms" since Māori were Māori and is nothing new.

      @@malachit4024 Masculinity and femininity are a balance in us all. We have our part to play as male and female in the process of kawa, but other than that it doesn't matter what gender you are. A haka can be performed by wāhine, sometimes better than tāne. That's a colonised view bro
