- In this video we are replacing the coolant on a KTM 250 EXC 2016. If you are unsure when the last coolant change was completed I highly recommend following this video through. An easy DIY job that takes no more than 10 minutes.
After about 40-50 hours of run time, engine coolant should be drained and replaced. It really is as easy as it looks!

I’ve got a little 65cc 2 stroke when is best to put coolant in it. I’ve only got distilled water in it at the moment and when I put it in do I only fill it up with coolant or 50/50 mix coolant and water
I wouldn't run my bike with water in. Always use the recommended coolant in the user manual. These can be found online if you don't have one. The coolant I buy you just pour it straight in. No mixing required.
What coolant do you buy I think it’s distilled water in there at the moment I’m just getting ready for winter
If you look in the video description box below the video I have put a link to the coolant I use.
Can you use regular water instead of distilled water? To rinse the old cooliant?
You can but it is not advised. Check your manual and see what it says, probably something along the line of a 50/50 mix of coolant and distilled water.
Do u have to put the distilled water in there or do u not have to
The distilled water is to flush the system out. This removes all of the old coolant.
Also if you buy concentrated coolant you will need to dilute it with distilled water. Hopes this helps.
