So the gopro’s audio wasn’t wasn’t good.
What do you suggest, getting a creator’s edition? Or the regular one and adding a better mic & light?
Also, does the mount work as a gimbal?
Hey thanks! The audio sounds a little bit funny in this video because I accidentally had it set to the back microphones but I was talking to the front ones. I actually have a video coming out soon where I show a comparison of different ways to get good audio on the gopro.
I would suggest whatever your budget allows. The media mod does get better audio than just the plain GoPro and I’m satisfied with that if need be. But if you have the budget I would suggest getting a wireless microphone like the rode wireless go or wireless pro
And the Volta mount doesn’t work as a gimbal due to it not having any axis with motors but the built in stabilization works as a gimbal instead

Thinking about replacing my DJI osmo pocket 2 with this kit.....thoughts?
I think the GoPro 12 and the Pocket 2 have some differences that are hard to compare. But I would say the Hero 12 is a good upgrade in quality and features as well as usability. As long as you’re okay with a bigger setup because from what I remember the pocket 2 is a lot smaller haha
@@kai__larsen true. The Osmo is smaller but once you put the all in one add on to it and a tripod. It’s not much different ;)
I also don’t care for how delicate the Osmo is. Makes me nervous.
@@talkingwithcars yeah the hero 12 is definitely not delicate. My old hero 7 got dropped off a 40ft cliff when I was rock climbing and barely got a scratch. Plus the built in stabilization on the hero 12 is so great you really don’t need a pocket stabilizer
on the Gopro website the 12black creator edition isn't listed for waterproof.. is it because it has the enhanced audio add-on? the unit itself is the same as the regular 12black right (which is waterproof)? thanks
Hey there! You are absolutely right. If you have the media mod that comes in the creator edition attached it is not waterproof. BUT it's super easy to take it on/off just like how I show in the video. If you put the regular door back on then its all set to go underwater 👍🏼

I'm new to the GoPro camera and am looking for a set-up to use for a possible CZcams channel where I'll feature everything from interviews with people and their animals, to simple walks in storms, our Tabby cats, and even to use as a Webcam for Zoom & video calls.
Would you suggest I go ahead and get the Hero 12 Creator Edition, and what other accessories might I add - a chest rig I'm thinking?

Hey Dave! Apologies for the late response, I think the hero 12 is great. Insta360 did just release their new action cam the ace pro. I’d maybe check that out too! I wish I could review one.
As far as microphones go I would suggest a rode wireless mic like the go2 or pro series. As well as a directional mic from rode.
with this setup can you use the camera without the battery in it?
also does the media mod mic record from the front and back?
You do have to have the battery in the camera but the volta extension adds extra battery life to it. And yes the media mod can be adjusted to record audio front and back

Yes you do need some extra mounts. GoPro makes some great accessories for biking and actually has a section on there website for bikers!

Oh no, I had mine backwards and got it stuck the other day but just had to shimmy it a little bit. It should slide in and out smoothly. I wonder what’s going on with your light

Its a 11.5. The hardware is the same, they just updated the software/ firmware and removed GPS .
You're correct it pretty much is a Hero 11 with updated software/firmware. But then again that's what the Hero 11 was to the Hero 10. Just minor updates. I'm guessing the Hero 13 or 14 will have the improved hardware like more processing power or a new sensor.
actually the hero 11 had a larger sensor compared to the 10, and the same cpu. The 12 has the same sensor as the 11, and no GPS. The only other differences are the new folding fingers and the max lens 2.0 which could work also on the 11 if they wanted to update its firmware.@@kai__larsen
with the go pro cloud storage, how safe will the files be? and does GoPro own my files once installed on the GoPro cloud storage
That's a great question. Cloud storage is very reliable, I haven't seen or heard anything to convince me otherwise. And no Gopro does not own your files. Although I would guess that if you cancel your subscription they give you X amount of time to download them before they clear it off their server or you can no longer access them or upload unless you renew

What are some great settings for a classroom?
Totally depends on the application. But I would say if you’re talking and teaching I’d set it to 5.3K 24fps in narrow or wide field of view depending on how much of your classroom you want to be seen. I’d also invest in a good shot gun mic or wireless mic if you plan on using it to make educational videos or record classes for students who miss out
are the cameras itself different? hero 12 and hero 12 creator ..or its just that creator edition have some accessories?
Camera's are the exact same yes, the creator edition just includes extra accessories for those looking to get the most out of their Hero 12 like better audio quality with the media mod, battery life & bluetooth control with the Volta, & the light mod for filming/vlogging at night.

100% I’ve been loving it so far. I’m starting to dive into overlanding videos and installation tutorials and sometimes record 30 minutes at a time and then I go inside connect to WiFi , upload over night and the next day I have another 128gb of sd storage without taking up space on a hard drive
Is the gopro hero 12 good for walking and traveling?
Absolutely it is
I got my go pro 12 including volta and media mod, but i don't know how to connect remote control to camera....there is no option
Turn on and plug in your Volta. Then on your gopro swipe down from the top. Go to the furthest right menu screen and select the "Pair Device" icon. That should connect the bluetooth trigger.
It took me a minute to figure this out also. I should've included it in the video

The legs of my tripod seem to be facing the wrong way, either that or the connector for the GoPro feet to go into is the wrong way, or much more likely I’m an idiot and overlooking something obvious. Can anyone help me out? Great vid, btw!
Not wanting to snap things off my new kit...I handled everything like a new baby...having the same problem, I realized the camera mount on the Volta "tripod" twists 360 degrees...have a go at that!
I realized this same thing and thought it was backwards. I was confused at first but a light amount of pressure will let you rotate it however you want to have buttons facing toward or away from you
For this do I need buy a microphone or included?
It has one included on the media mod
A noticeable drop in image quality and especially audio when you switched to the GoPro… I think I might need to wait another year…
there's definetly going to be an image quality drop and audio since I'm using a $6,000 camera and mic setup for the main shots and the GoPro is only $600. Definitely have their use cases but for someone who doesn't have the budget for a similar setup or want to carry it around I think it does well for the price

@@likaboss302 so far I’m liking it. Waiting on a mini screw driver to open the broken gopro8 up, see if there’s anything obvious that I can repair, worth a try. The 12 is nice though, image stabilisation is noticeably better than the 8, 5.3k is also nice 😎👍
Is the vultra water proof or water resistant?
Volta? It's not waterproof so don't go swimming with it but I'd say it's okay for in the rain or snow

Sandisk memory cards are the most used, I also like Delkin Black SD cards, they're a little more pricey but have a lifetime warranty

I don’t believe so , it’s a manufactures warranty so they’re usually already active
