    Very informative dude, except for the fact that you explained absolutely NOTHING of what you were doing.

    I appreciate the fact that you are doing your job and not stopping to talk in the video, but at least write up a description of what you are doing and why? Like what kind of drill bits you are using, etc. If you do something like this then i'll give you a 'thumbs up'

    Much cheaper to use snap-toggles, and you only have to drill 1/2" holes. One of the problems with wingits and snap-toggles is that you're drilling a hole assuming that there is an open cavity behind the wall. If there is a stud, or some other obstruction close to the back of the tile wall, you're left with a sizable hole to fill. Finding studs and obstructions behind tile walls is half science and half mystical magic.

      windsor laser thank you for your comment! I agree snap toggles are much cheaper, I have never used them in a grab bars install, I have always just stuck with wing it's because of there awesome reputation and they feel really strong when installed! I have never come across one that I drilled and wasn't able to use, I have drilled a 3/4" hole and found a stud right at the hole and when that happens I just put a wood screw in the stud, never fails! Where are you located @windsor laser?

      I've done too many grab bars... and although 90% of them go very smoothly... the other 10% are the ones you remember. With the population getting much older, and the huge demand for grab bars, you could probably make a living just installing bars and other assist items. I'm in Ontario Canada.. its damn cold! :)

      Definitely! I bet you could definitely make a business just out of that! Welcome from Ontario! I am in Sacramento California and it has been surprisingly warm lately.

    So, I have many questions. What was that tool you used to make the initial hole in the tile? Did you have some sort of tool to gather the dust? And what was that round piece you initially pasted on the tile to guide the hole? I am a woman and have never installed a grab bar before so I went online, on youtube, to get some instructions and that's how I found your video. Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

      + Mike P Ya, its a great business to be in! I have had no formal training persay, just learned from mentors growing up, I am a trained auto mechanic and did that for the last 7 years before january 2017 when I left to be a handyman full time, There is nothing like working for yourself! So rewarding!

      Very true, This was in my beginning stages of videos, I have learned that not everyone learns the same way, Watching someone do the job is how I learn but some learn differently, I will most likely make a more in depth explanation of how to do this job in the future! I have a lot more in depth how to videos posted and coming soon! Thanks for your comment, Where are you from?

    Did you do anything to waterproof the holes or do the mounts take care of that?

    • @handymanjourney
      @handymanjourney  Před 6 lety

      Freefalln73 thank you for your comment, yes the foam hole templates that come with the wing-it's fasteners can be left as a water seal or you can use clear silicone when it is all done, I usually remove the foam template and use silicone, but the mounts do claim to make it waterproof! Where are you located at?

  • @hispeed69
    @hispeed69 Před 6 lety +2

    No explanation why you're not worried about hitting studs, if the inserts you used were provided with the bar or ones you use because you like them. I'm looking to learn something rather than watch someone work. You talk more about a leaf blower rather than something important about a piece of safety equipment for an elderly person. Give some real description please.

    • @hispeed69
      @hispeed69 Před 6 lety +2

      Honest Lee, I'm not trying to bust your boys, but rather learn about things I want to do in the future. Working with ceramic tile takes some experience and making a mistake can be costly for those who don't know. You're intent with the channel is hugely appreciated and I will watch all your vids eventually... between jobs of course. I stopped watching Wranglerstar because he kept 'cryptically' labeling his vids just to get views and wasting my time as well as many other disgruntled subscribers with senseless babble. Keep doing what you do bud... it's appreciated.
