I was the weird kid too. I also ended up becoming a clown, dance performing on streets, living in the woods. Out of desperation of the darkness I was living in, I prayed to God in case he was real. I got a vision that night and saw the ghost of my cat before I knew he was dead. I went home to my family, made amends--something still wasn't right. Left for a 400 mile bikeride. Bike broke down 30 miles in. Ended up in small desert town on top of a hill. I was led to Jesus. Now I experience actual healing miracles as the norm, and I've never been happier, leaving the old stuff behind. Praise Jesus, and I'm only 25

Friend of the weird kid at my school, and possibly a weird kid myself. Really nice girl, always giving out home-baked goods for any special occasion. Yet I still hear kids trash-talking her behind her back. I think she's got a few mental issues and gets attached to the wrong people. Can't let go of toxic friends for more than a few months. It sickens me how people take advantage of her, but she continues to be such a kind person even to those who talk about her so terribly. For her sake, I hope she finds a way to make and maintain healthy relationships, and I hope eventually those kids will see her for all the good she's done, not her weird side.

The weird kid at my school would run home everyday. He eventually got a bike and rode that home every day. He once dove into a puddle for five bucks. He chugged a bottle of syrup at lunch one time and one of the assistant principals confiscated the bottle with the remaining 2% of the contents. He is now doing well as a calibration technician for a company that makes medical implants. That person was me. A video was taken of the puddle dive and it is still on my CZcams channel.

The weird kid was smart, always kind, yet was bullied for years. Would always be found reading geography books in the school library every recess to avoid social interaction. Went from a geography nerd, to an anime/cartoon fan and STEM nerd. Later on, the bullying stopped and she found her people that share her sense of weirdness and nerdiness. Now, she's in college, majoring in electrical engineering, and has way more friends than before.
Hi, the weird kid is me. Although thankfully bullying is close to zero in college, which encouraged me to give socializing a second chance, i still fear the day my college friends cut our friendship off. Oh, i forgot to mention. I'm autistic and have ADHD.

I was one of those weird kids, sadly my life didn't work out great. Was kind of a spaz because I had serious social issues involving neglect and systematic abuse but I covered it up trying to protect my family from the authorities because that's what my abusers told me I had to do.
Mostly outlived my abusers only to develope a brain tumor that was probably related to multiple untreated concussions I received as a kid. Managed to live through that only have my mothers new husband basically steal everything I owned. Now I'm disabled and living with an old GF and her husband on the other size of a country from where I was born. One good thing in my life was that I was at least able to save my two younger siblings from all of that trauma and they were able to grow up and do well for themselves.

I took some comfort from this thread. I was 100% the weird kid. Very precocious, had no friends. Parents pushed me hard. I ended up finishing high school at 13 and went straight to college. Parents kept trying to convince me there was something wrong with me-that I was autistic or something.
It wasn’t until I met and married my husband at 21 that I saw a neuropsychologist and was diagnosed with PTSD. Turns out my family of origin was actually terribly abusive, followed by my on and off again boyfriend of four years. I had no idea. Everything my family said was weird behavior was actually normal considering my circumstances. Everything weird in public that I did that made people hate me-it was bad socialization. I went no-contact with my family of origin between my wedding and the birth of my first child.
I’m in my 30s now. Three kids, married to a school teacher, live in rural Idaho. No one here knows I was the freaky genius kid. It’s been 20 years since high school and I still have nightmares. As I grow, the more little ways I’m discovering I’m f*caked up.
So this thread was interesting to me. I wasn’t the only weird kid who was acting out due to abuse.

I was the weird kid. I went to school with undiagnosed autism, during a time when autism really wasn't diagnosed as much in girls as in boys, and so instead of giving me support that I probably could have used, I got a lot of pressure and abuse from adults.
I didn't have any friends back then because I didn't understand what was appropriate socially speaking, and I barked like a dog which certainly didn't help. I turned out OK.

Former weird kid here. I remember being one of the most talkative kids in the class, I do weird stuff like hugging a pole that was standing in the middle of the class (not in a strange way; just hugging it), I play the same song everyday, I say random crap out loud, etc. It was like this for five years but I'm perfectly aware if I'm taking the joke too far or not.
That is until the pandemic hit and everybody's stuck at their homes. Throughout those years, I began to feel less hyperactive and weird and began to feel cynical and developed an existential crisis. I began to experience mental breakdowns and I just blame every problem to myself. Now that I'm back on face-to-face classes, I sort of lost that weirdness inside me that I somehow miss, and I began to question my own life. I do still miss it. But it ain't all bad, I've talked to my family about it and I started socialising with people I meet...

      @@karenbertke3149 Hey there!
I actually have been talking to my mum, but the problems kept coming back as time passes. I feel alienation, paranoia, I have a distrust towards everybody and their motives, and socialising feels temporary. I have nobody that I can talk to. It's really hard to fit in when you have different interests, thoughts, etc. to different people. I suppose there is a reason why my Mum is so worried why I'm talking to my imaginary friend which, believe it or not, is the only somebody I can trust everything with.
I actually have self-awareness of what I'm going through and just wish everything goes back to normal for me again. I wish your mate gets better and you yourself as well, it's a tough time for many people.

I was good in art and all girls in my class (including me) were into animes and vampires for a period of time. Unlike the other girls I could actually draw whole anime figures, added two bloody dotts and blood on the neck (might have been a bit too much but I was young and even tho I was the best in art, its still fair to say I wasnt very good). Long story short, my teachers thought I was drawing dying people in class and worried I would end up on a rampage so they invited my parents and me over for a "serious psycho talk". One of the teachers didnt even show up cuz she was scared of me.

only reason id consider myself a weird kid is because i never talked to anyone or made any friends. i wasn't mental or socially inept, just angry and very very depressed. i had a few people i would hang out with here and there but we wouldn't talk outside of school. my dad had recently offed himself at the time and i had moved down to live with my biological mom where i had no real friends. there was one kid who i was actually great friends with but their parents didn't want them hanging out with me because they thought i was into drugs and other illegal stuff to cope with what happened to my dad; which to a certain extent they weren't wrong.
my mom didn't set any boundaries for me so i kind of drifted around high school attending very minimally, started smoking a metric ton of weed every day, and fucked around at the skate park. for a while i was recognized around school as 'that kid' and i guess i had some sort of 'unwritten' popularity for being a mYsTeRiOuS person. but after a while i dropped out of high school in my senior year because i was still struggling a lot. decided id rather focus on work at the time and i'd get a ged later.
edit: i have orientation tomorrow for a pretty promising job that pays well. the hours are longer and the job itself is supposed to be hard, but im excited to actually get some real cash under my belt for an apartment to move into. i no longer drink or smoke weed and im also in trying to find some sort of ged program so i can get better jobs at this place.
overall it seems like the only way from here is up so thats nice. its nice to finally feel like im doing somewhat well in life instead of being a lonely loser that feels bad for himself all the time.

She killed herself when she was 20. Only found out because a friend of mine was close friends with her in high school and one of the few people from high school she told about transitioning. And when he had to go to her funeral. Well, he was heartbroken. They had lost touch mostly after high school when he moved for Uni so they didn’t see eachother so often. The only people at her funeral were her family and her old friend group from high school. She seemingly hadn’t made any friends after leaving and had mostly lost touch with her old ones. There were many weird guys in my class but the weirdest by far was "A" whom I went to school with from age 6 to 16. "A" had some sort of autism, I think, and always got special attention in school and later ended up in a special needs class. He was quite fun to play with in small groups of 3-4 kids but would shy away in larger groups, when we moved to a bigger school at age 12 he would stop talking almost completely.
When I was 22 I saw his obituary in the local news paper, I noticed that his dad was not listed among the grieving family. I new his parents were divorced so I didn't think too much about it. Later I found out from a common friend of our's what had happened.
"A" and his dad were both suffering from mental health issues and "A" had shared his suicidal thoughts with his dad. The dad had beaten "A" and their dogs to death and was going to end his own life when he was interrupted by a visit from "A"'s aunt.
According to my friend at least "A" and maybe his dad, too, had sought help for mental illness but the system had failed them.

I think I can say I was the Weird Kid growing up. And I'm now the Weird Adult. Back when I was in School I had Severe Social Anxiety. Had Social Anxiety my whole life. Along with Anxiety. Developed Depression in Middle School. I was so terrified of anyone my age range that I avoid Socializing as much as possible. I was ok on talking to Adults. But other Kids was terrifying for me. Plus the Adults had more interesting things to say. I mostly sat in a corner in the far back away from everyone. (Which was terrible because I couldn't see stuff. Which the first pair of glasses I got I couldn't wear. They have polycarb. Which both me and Dad can't have. Just imagine going on a acid trip within a few seconds. Things moving and slitting headache. Not fun. Which yeah Teachers tried to get me to wear them.) The only classes I did really well in I feel was Math and Art. Maybe Science. Suck horribly in Gym. (Which there is three good reasons. Arthritis, Scoliosis and having a hole in my Heart. Didn't find out about the second one until a few years ago. Didn't find out about the last one until 3 years ago.) I sucked horribly in Spelling, Reading and Grammar. (I have Dyslexia. No one told me. So I felt like crap for years.) I did get to take that IQ Test or whatever it's called for the last time. But only because the Person below the Principal noticed I talked differently than the others in Disabled Class. (I wasn't full on in the Class. I had Classes outside of it.) I aced the Math part. She was confused on how I knew these. I guessed alot from vague memory. I learned most from Dad and a certain Cartoon. Barely any of it from School. Now days I work as a Cashier. Do Art and research stuff in my down time. I'm also trying to learn 12 languages. I'm currently at the level where I can understand some stories in German and speak a bit. (Still super shy and nervous when speaking another language ) Can understand some sentences in Polish. Got most characters down in Korean, Ukrainian and Russian. I can understand a few Sentences in Spanish and maybe French. But my Spelling and Grammar still sucks. I do a wide range of Art. Traditional. Digital. A bit of Animation. Knitting. Jewelry Making. Candle Making. Flow Art. Planning to get into making Stickers, Prints, Sewing, Glass Work, Clip Art, Tie Dye and probably more. I love Art and very Passionate about it.

We dated for a bit and we were each other's first everything. When I shipped out for basic training, she ended the relationship because she couldn't handle the distance. I was the weird kid at school. Serious social anxiety and all that wonderful stuff, which continues to this day. I work as a sysadmin, as I'd far rather deal with machines than people. Even just picking up the phone to talk to someone (aside from immediate family) and my brain still blue-screens. Few girlfriends, yet somehow I got married, but that didn't last, my (now ex-)wife tried to kill me by strangling me after an argument - nanny-cam footage of that ensured I got custody of our kid as she was considered dangerous. So now my main focuses are my kid, then my career. I still have the social skills of a breeze-block, and will most likely remain single for the rest of my life as my apparent coldness and inability to get the most basic of social cues seems to scare people. I was the weird kid, and am still the weird one.

I still struggle to remember to do the basics eat, sleep, shower, etc... I'm listed as a high vulnerability to neglect but I'm working on that. I have been diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome as well as a number of mental health disorders. I do therapy a couple of times a week to learn how to manage living with my conditions. I run a support group for others with Tourette's and I'm on the board for the most recognised charity for Tourette's in my country. I've come out as queer, and I'm studying to be a primary school teacher. I'll finish Master's of Teaching at the end of the year. Like when I say my vision is bad it’s bad bad( also if you give me shit for writing this magnificent are on phone and speech to text is a thing screen readers are a thing too so don’t be ableist and assume). I was made fun of all the time. I used to go to a catholic private school and was heavily bullied for years. Like kids cut my hair and used to make me stand by a wall and kick a kick ball at my head. My vision loss is due to having cancer at 6. I know it’s weird seeing a person hunched over trying to Reed a book of having their phone close to their face but that’s how I live. Anyways I had poor social skills growing up till senior year of HS and discovered I wasn’t fully straight either so I was made fun of a lot.. I started being myself and well I’m shy though sometimes painfully but teachers were always kind cause they knew I tried. This one kid was an ass. He called me a blind b and told me to go die all the time and we’ll I saw him on instagram a bit ago 2 years after graduating and he had three kids and a fourth on the way with another baby mama. He posts a picture of him with the kid when it’s born and dips out on the child’s life. We are like 20 mind you. He messaged me to try and hit me up cause I later found out he thought I would be easy. I blocked him and will never speak to him again. I rather not deal with HS drama. I had a cancer scare and well now I want real people in my life no fake jerks. Plus I have a loving partner. A year as of April and I’m happy I’m at college too 2nd semester of the first year. I’m doing much much better and well being the “ weird “ kid isn’t always a bad thing just cause your disabled doesn’t make anyone weird and our lives matter just as much as the next person.
