    The security on these American Locks is awesome for the price point. Should be a go to for affordable padlocks. The few that I've picked, I feel I can respect the quality. No bullying these guys.

      I think they do a great job. It is sad they are owned by Master Lock. I hope they continue to be good. They are one of the more fun locks to pick. I honestly don't get any enjoyment on picking true high security locks because it is not realistic nor practical

      @@HelpfulLockPicker Yeah they're super fun to pick. And really? I had no idea. Maybe this is how Master Lock employees can sleep at night. I have a bit of a personal beef with Master Lock, since a few of my colleagues worked on the design team. They all got fired because the company wasn't interested in innovating at all and wanted to trim the fat. Lots of stodgy people stuck in their ways and unwilling to alter the designs because unfortunately the No. 3 still sells. Talk about having no pride or integrity in your work...

    Well picked and a good review of the tools you used. IMHO the 1100 is where real padlock security begins- nothing easy about it.

    Hi everyone,
    Multipick offers various pick thicknesses in your set you should have 0.6- and 0.4-millimeter picks. HelpfulLockPicker used a 0.4-millimeter pick in this video. For some reason they edge the 0.4 as an engraving on the side of the pick handle instead of the bottom where you can find it on the 0.6 mil picks. Great picking. I need to get myself an American lock soon. I see them everywhere.

    This is from far out of left field but, I'm new to lock picking and I'm trying to open my first practice lock (an acrylic see through one) and i can just never find the binding order, i can never feel if the pin is giving me any resistance and they never stay up (unless i overset them). And sometimes i wonder if they are overset or if I'm just paranoid. Anyways, i need some help.

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  Před rokem

      You may need more tension. But also bear in mind the clear locks are horrible. I would rather see you learn on a cutaway lock because those are at least more realistic

    In the video it looks like you selected the .4mm (.016") short hook, not the .6mm (.024") short hook, which is probably why it dug into your finger more than expected.

    • @HelpfulLockPicker
      @HelpfulLockPicker  Před rokem +1

      Thank you for checking it out. I can't recall but it is possible. Either way they worked well :) Personally if I prefer to use a thicker pick on these and if I did use a thinner one that is probably why I was having a harder time than normal.

    • @christinapalmer
      @christinapalmer Před rokem

      The .6mm pick has a thinner shaft taper, the .4mm has a thicker shaft taper, to compensate for the thinner metal stock. That is what I was looking at. Take a look for yourself, and see if you agree. It might also be possible to tell from the differing laser engraving, but I did not look for that.
