It’s a fantastic story but it stinks to wait so long for new parts of the story to come out
I think it has to do more with the time, money and script. If you notice, he seems amazing in the first couple episodes when the production and writing are really high. But the last couple episodes of TOWL feel more like boring old TWD to me. Not that the actors don't have talent, but I think it's just that they weren't utilized as well in TWD and now not as utilized in the latter half of TOWL.
I still don’t get why so many people stopped watching just because Glenn died. I liked Glenn too, but he dies in the comics. Even if he didn’t die, the actor who plays him, Steven Yeun, wanted to leave the show by then to work on other projects.
I've been saying that forever, everybody loved Glenn but he dies in the comic and most people who were that dedicated to the show and followed from season one had to have learned at some point that Glenn is killed in Negan's first appearance, I started watching it the night it premiered and had no idea it was a comic book first but I learned just through social media alone that he dies well before it happened, Carl's death on the other hand was not only the worst decision Scott Gimple made but to add insult to injury they gave him a stupid meaningless death for no reason
People got too soft. The early days of TWD literally anyone could die. We had a few seasons in there where nobody super important died so people forgot what the show was about. I've watched every season and every spinoff and loved just about everything. Season 10 wasn't the greatest but I had to see it through. Currently loving "The Ones Who Live"
It was the big tease of his death before that, the WAY he died and how they showed it, and the show was going downhill anyway. I stopped watching right after he died but then tried to watch again a little later and it was just more “shocking” deaths and sillier scenarios. The longer term characters were long term for a reason. People liked them. Then they’re gone for new people I honestly did not care for at all.

Whereas the accent itself comes from the direction of the director and carried out by the actor. Problem was the actor Lincoln had an almost Boston like accent when he said Carl’s name. His other southern lingo for the most part could be overlooked and forgivable. Here you are revealing your own illiteracy over two words not understanding how one is encompassed in the other, while additionally accounting for the way regions communicate differently. For example, China has mandarin and Cantonese being the most common dialect, but they have over 30 dialects spread through out China. I’ll even give you a better example of a dialect being identified in English from America vs English from the UK. In America we take an elevator to get to the top floor, whereas in the UK they take a lift to reach the top floor. Now I can’t annotate the accents here but you get the gist of what I’m saying boy?
Actual fans of TWD will be watching on February 25th The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live finally premiers. Im looking forward to one final chapter with Andrew, Danai and the hard working cast and teams that made it possible. I don't regret sticking with TWD for one second. Hopefully we get a good ending. It will probably be better than the unforgivable Game of thrones final season/ending.

The original show ended after 11 seasons in 2022 and Fear the walking dead ended after 8 seasons Nov 2023. However Two new spin-off aired last year one called TWD: Daryl Dixon and one called TWD: Dead City. Both had 6 episode first seasons. But I believe both are getting a second, and probably final season. For obvious reasons diehard fan's have been waiting years for a proper finally for Rick and Michonne who most know weren't in the final season of TWD. That happens finally on Feb 25 when AMC premiers TWD: The Ones Who Live. Which will likely be only one short season. I look forward it. It hopeful won't end depressing.
Lol started rewatching in December to get ready for it. Much better show to watch in binge format. Can’t wait to see Rick back finally and where the story picks up. I only watched to season 10, currently in it now

Two of the reasons why I gave up watching this show are changing things for shock value (IE: Andrea was the was killed off for shock value: She was supposed the lead the Hilltop settlement I think), and making scenes too long or overly dramatic in the show (IE:Hershel’s death).

But on regular cable th walker dead reigned supreme for multiple years and that was without Nicotero. And the episode were “the bandwagon” fans of the show departed was the highest viewership episode of the show. TWD turned into a phenomenon and was really famous but yeah instead of finishing the show on top they kept making story arcs last over 2 seasons and prolonging the show to milk every penney they could and they’re still doing it. I agree the show should’ve ended with 7-8 seasons if they didn’t have filler episodes, but it’s a business as well and amc has gotten filthy rich with all of its spinoffs and 11 seasons.

Andrew was pissed they killed off Carl and said it was pointless for him to remain on the show with him dead and he would rather go and spend time with his family if they were going to screw Chandler over like that.
Andrew said he missed multiple burthdays and it was difficult to be on a show for a long time filming and being with his family across the Atlantic so he left to spend time, quit making things up

Glens relationship with Maggie was the bright spot of the show, it gave it contrast between hope and horror. After that it was just horror and in-fighting.
After Season 4, that's practically all that is. Hell, the issue isn't even the lack of zombies these days; with the universe going on this long it is understandable that humanity and actual communities have risen back up. It's just bad writing. Proof of human conflicts still being great are the Terminus and Governor arcs.
Same, they made a huge mistake offing his character. If the actor was done I get it but it ruined the show for me. I fell in love with the show late and was able to watch it on Netflix but the moment he died I didn’t watch another moment of it and never will.

I really dont understand why Glenn's death led people to stop watching the show. Yes, he was a beloved character but that's what happened in the comics. It was a major plot point in the story and I'm happy they stayed faithful to the source material.
After a certain number of seasons, it should’ve just been called “The Walking”. It was all a bunch of walking to nowhere, no solution in sight and just endless rambling of nothing.

I’ve always wanted Lincoln as Issac Clarke in a Dead Space show. A show that mixes the single focus on one character nearly the entire time, and a terrifying Event Horizon-like atmosphere of a horror movie. John Wick in Horror Space.
I think the show was really revitalized and even better when Rick was written off. Season 9 is the best season of the show, and Rick was only in it for 5 out of 16 episodes. Andrew Lincoln even expressed regret at leaving after seeing what Angela kang did for the show. Andrew wanted off the show back in season 8 to spend time with his family and not have to be in the states for so long, but decided to stick it out for one more season. He initially wanted Rick offed, but got an open ending so he could return. Which he was grateful for since he loved what came after with TWD and he has his own spinoff.
The walking dead was fantastic imo up to the introduction of Negan. Not because of of who we lost but because season 7-8 were pure milk. Watching week by week was god awful… even binging the show again out of boredom I skip that entire segment of the show up until the very last 3 episodes of season 8. After that the show did decline but I still enjoyed it, could have been way better, but I enjoyed it. Maggie and Negan is big meh for me. Getting kind of tired of Maggie’s constant complaining about him being alive. We get it, doesn’t need to be repeated over and over. Daryl’s show was a solid 9/10 for me. Looking forward to part 2. And cannot wait to see Rick again tomorrow.
I'm a TWD fan-boy. I will watch every single episode of anything in that universe. Andrew felt the tide changing. The "family" was leaving 1-by-1, and he saw the writing on the wall. I've been in a similar position.A group of strangers come together everyday, but when you connect to everyone the way the original cast connected, it's like lightning in a bottle. So, when those pieces began to go their seperate ways, no more lighting. Not to mention, Andrew was asked many years ago how he envisioned the ending of the show. He said he didn't know the ending but the one he wanted Rick's story to end something like, Rick gets hurt and leaves Carl to carry the torch. He wanted to see Carl take over for a season or 2 before it ended. You gotta remember, Chandler was all of what? 10 years old when he started TWD. They all spent a lot of time together, he grew up with them. Andrew wanted to see Carl's story come full circle. So, when they shafted Chandler, I'm 110% sure it left a bad taste and Andy's mouth and he wanted a break. His new show is phenomenal though

I think the time of Glenn's death was when a lot of people started switching over to cable. I did that with the last seasons. It was actually better to binge them.
The movies can still be done if the individual series they have going can all have a story that can intersect at one point. Daryl, Negan, Rick, Michonne, etc.
The problem with movies based off shows is that it requires having seen the show to understand it, maybe not the case for star trek but definitely for phase 4 of marvel.
It was the characters people loved being off the show that really made it spiral down, after Glenn we have Carl dying and Rick “leaving” which. Carl was one of the survivors to root for and carry but he died in such a pathetic way. Then all these characters came outta nowhere and its a whole new show at that point
His sendoff should’ve been him sacrificing himself to save the crew in his final appearance as Rick in season 9. Because a “movie trilogy” sounded dumb to begin with. A mini series to conclude his story is definitely a better option.
Never understood why there was no merge of TWD and FTWD. Some great characters in both series. Ultimately, both are about a battle of wits and strategy against the worst odds. Perhaps our survivors make it to D.C. to where they have difficulty telling the Zombies and the Woke left apart, meeting up with Charles Shlob who smells worse than a walker with bad breath, but gives them the cure. Trouble is, it’s in Africa. So now the odds are even higher; Walkers, Psychopaths, and predatory beasts (no, not politicians), to contend with....
Everybody looks at the cable numbers, but what people fail to realize is that in 2016-2017, people started to stop watching regular cable TV and switched over to streaming services and those numbers have never been officially released. TWD was the most pirated show in the world in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022. The show didn't go down in quality until the last 2 seasons. Even then it just wasn't as consistent with its quality during seasons 7-8 and 10-11(season 9 managed to be an exception and is on the extremely high level of the first 6 seasons), and it was already suffering from franchise fatigue, which undoubtedly turned some of the casual audiences off to the show, however in recent years with the release of the new increasingly popular and well written spin-offs, TWD universe is back in action and just as popular now as it was back then in 2010-2018, and in 2022(the finale year spike). The "TWD is Dead" trope is a tired stereotype and very obviously untrue based on every metric (higher viewership, better more consistent quality, high release rate, increasing budgets, strong fanbase, etc). The Walking Dead IP is arguably bigger and better than ever, regardless of these loud, now minority, casual low attention span brain-rotted "fans" who don't even like zombie media. Most tell you they watched until season 7 or season 8 of the show and stopped due to major character deaths(that were written well but they couldn't look past their emotional attachments to the characters so they despised the show regardless of its merits judging it only on them disliking a certain character no longer being around) or because of the manipulative and untrustworthy marketing and drawn-out release schedule at the time. What is frustrating is that, they, and people that just listen to them and their emotionally driven opinions of the show and don't actually watch the show, never analyze the show objectively and correctly, so when there were issues that began taking over the show in season 10-11 they'd just blame it on earlier seasons and continue to make the same mistakes instead of rooting out snd examining the actual issues. To say the show "dipped in quality" is true in some ways but not in the way these people tell it. It's nowhere near the whole story. Even its worst seasons are objectively far better than 90% of film and TV out there, seasons 1-9 of the main show (Rick Grimes series) is still one of the greatest television series ever made and a masterpiece in its own right and deserves more respect and credit than it gets.
If AMC and the Waking Dead were smart, they'd pay Andrew Lincoln whatever he wanted to continue on with his own show then after a season or 2 merge the entire Walking Dead cast back together for new addition seasons. That would,for sure, bring the Walking Dead back to life. Rick is the Walking Dead without him the show doesn't seem right

Twd universe is cool but its definitely outlived its run in a sense. The new cameras just make everything look so real to the point where we know its fake. They get scared of like 5 zombies when we’ve seen characters literally engulfed in a horde and make it out without a bite. It took the fear out of the zombies and shifted it to the survivors who were left. Which makes sense but wvery season since the prison just feels like “the group” taking over or sabotaging another group

Andrew was pissed they killed off Carl and said it was pointless for him to remain on the show with him dead and he would rather go and spend time with his family if they were going to screw Chandler over like that.

Andrew said he missed multiple burthdays and it was difficult to be on a show for a long time filming and being with his family across the Atlantic so he left to spend time, quit making things up

He wasnt showrunner for seasons 9-11 because he is now chief content executive

Glens relationship with Maggie was the bright spot of the show, it gave it contrast between hope and horror. After that it was just horror and in-fighting.

After Season 4, that's practically all that is. Hell, the issue isn't even the lack of zombies these days; with the universe going on this long it is understandable that humanity and actual communities have risen back up. It's just bad writing. Proof of human conflicts still being great are the Terminus and Governor arcs.

Same, I knew Glen was gonna die but when Carl died I quit. Carl was like the Gohan of TWD. I was enjoying his growth and he would've been a badass main character after Rick's inevitable death.
I really dont understand why Glenn's death led people to stop watching the show. Yes, he was a beloved character but that's what happened in the comics. It was a major plot point in the story and I'm happy they stayed faithful to the source material.
After a certain number of seasons, it should’ve just been called “The Walking”. It was all a bunch of walking to nowhere, no solution in sight and just endless rambling of nothing.

I think the show was really revitalized and even better when Rick was written off. Season 9 is the best season of the show, and Rick was only in it for 5 out of 16 episodes. Andrew Lincoln even expressed regret at leaving after seeing what Angela kang did for the show. Andrew wanted off the show back in season 8 to spend time with his family and not have to be in the states for so long, but decided to stick it out for one more season. He initially wanted Rick offed, but got an open ending so he could return. Which he was grateful for since he loved what came after with TWD and he has his own spinoff.

The movies wasn't canceled they just turned them into the TV show. What we are watching is the movie trilogy.
The walking dead was fantastic imo up to the introduction of Negan. Not because of of who we lost but because season 7-8 were pure milk. Watching week by week was god awful… even binging the show again out of boredom I skip that entire segment of the show up until the very last 3 episodes of season 8. After that the show did decline but I still enjoyed it, could have been way better, but I enjoyed it. Maggie and Negan is big meh for me. Getting kind of tired of Maggie’s constant complaining about him being alive. We get it, doesn’t need to be repeated over and over. Daryl’s show was a solid 9/10 for me. Looking forward to part 2. And cannot wait to see Rick again tomorrow.

I'm a TWD fan-boy. I will watch every single episode of anything in that universe. Andrew felt the tide changing. The "family" was leaving 1-by-1, and he saw the writing on the wall. I've been in a similar position.A group of strangers come together everyday, but when you connect to everyone the way the original cast connected, it's like lightning in a bottle. So, when those pieces began to go their seperate ways, no more lighting. Not to mention, Andrew was asked many years ago how he envisioned the ending of the show. He said he didn't know the ending but the one he wanted Rick's story to end something like, Rick gets hurt and leaves Carl to carry the torch. He wanted to see Carl take over for a season or 2 before it ended. You gotta remember, Chandler was all of what? 10 years old when he started TWD. They all spent a lot of time together, he grew up with them. Andrew wanted to see Carl's story come full circle. So, when they shafted Chandler, I'm 110% sure it left a bad taste and Andy's mouth and he wanted a break. His new show is phenomenal though

I think the time of Glenn's death was when a lot of people started switching over to cable. I did that with the last seasons. It was actually better to binge them.
The movies can still be done if the individual series they have going can all have a story that can intersect at one point. Daryl, Negan, Rick, Michonne, etc.

It was the characters people loved being off the show that really made it spiral down, after Glenn we have Carl dying and Rick “leaving” which. Carl was one of the survivors to root for and carry but he died in such a pathetic way. Then all these characters came outta nowhere and its a whole new show at that point

Never understood why there was no merge of TWD and FTWD. Some great characters in both series. Ultimately, both are about a battle of wits and strategy against the worst odds. Perhaps our survivors make it to D.C. to where they have difficulty telling the Zombies and the Woke left apart, meeting up with Charles Shlob who smells worse than a walker with bad breath, but gives them the cure. Trouble is, it’s in Africa. So now the odds are even higher; Walkers, Psychopaths, and predatory beasts (no, not politicians), to contend with....

Everybody looks at the cable numbers, but what people fail to realize is that in 2016-2017, people started to stop watching regular cable TV and switched over to streaming services and those numbers have never been officially released. TWD was the most pirated show in the world in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022. The show didn't go down in quality until the last 2 seasons. Even then it just wasn't as consistent with its quality during seasons 7-8 and 10-11(season 9 managed to be an exception and is on the extremely high level of the first 6 seasons), and it was already suffering from franchise fatigue, which undoubtedly turned some of the casual audiences off to the show, however in recent years with the release of the new increasingly popular and well written spin-offs, TWD universe is back in action and just as popular now as it was back then in 2010-2018, and in 2022(the finale year spike). The "TWD is Dead" trope is a tired stereotype and very obviously untrue based on every metric (higher viewership, better more consistent quality, high release rate, increasing budgets, strong fanbase, etc). The Walking Dead IP is arguably bigger and better than ever, regardless of these loud, now minority, casual low attention span brain-rotted "fans" who don't even like zombie media. Most tell you they watched until season 7 or season 8 of the show and stopped due to major character deaths(that were written well but they couldn't look past their emotional attachments to the characters so they despised the show regardless of its merits judging it only on them disliking a certain character no longer being around) or because of the manipulative and untrustworthy marketing and drawn-out release schedule at the time. What is frustrating is that, they, and people that just listen to them and their emotionally driven opinions of the show and don't actually watch the show, never analyze the show objectively and correctly, so when there were issues that began taking over the show in season 10-11 they'd just blame it on earlier seasons and continue to make the same mistakes instead of rooting out snd examining the actual issues. To say the show "dipped in quality" is true in some ways but not in the way these people tell it. It's nowhere near the whole story. Even its worst seasons are objectively far better than 90% of film and TV out there, seasons 1-9 of the main show (Rick Grimes series) is still one of the greatest television series ever made and a masterpiece in its own right and deserves more respect and credit than it gets.
If AMC and the Waking Dead were smart, they'd pay Andrew Lincoln whatever he wanted to continue on with his own show then after a season or 2 merge the entire Walking Dead cast back together for new addition seasons. That would,for sure, bring the Walking Dead back to life. Rick is the Walking Dead without him the show doesn't seem right

Twd universe is cool but its definitely outlived its run in a sense. The new cameras just make everything look so real to the point where we know its fake. They get scared of like 5 zombies when we’ve seen characters literally engulfed in a horde and make it out without a bite. It took the fear out of the zombies and shifted it to the survivors who were left. Which makes sense but wvery season since the prison just feels like “the group” taking over or sabotaging another group
I quit the show when Glen died. I did not appreciate being toyed with about his dying. That drove me away from the show for good.
