They failed to make the distinction between plasma donations and blood donations well in this video. Plasma donations are very different and return the blood (without the plasma) back to you when the plasma extracted. The plasma is what pays, not blood typically. And plasma, due to how it works, can be done twice a week, at least 48 hours in between donations. It's even benefical for some people and specific conditions too.

For those who wanted to know, the only reason why the mice experiment worked was because the older mouse was essentially using the younger one’s organs. By connecting their arteries together, the scientists basically created a close loop where the younger mouse’s organs where working overtime in order to keep the older one alive. This had the effect of making the young mouse a lot weaker as the old one got « younger ». So the blood itself had absolutely nothing to do with it and it never will, if rich people want to actually become younger vampires, they’d have to parasite young people’s organs by straight up hooking their blood systems together

My Dad "donated" as often as he could for years and years until he developed a blood cancer called essential thrombocytosis. We don't have any proof that the donations caused it, but we suspect the plasma "donations" played a role. The fact that the plasma might be sold to billionaires-that my dad might have gotten cancer from "donating" plasma-just so some vampires can shoot it up... I don't even have words. On top of all that, now I have been forced into donating my plasma as well despite the risks-despite my dad's condition-because I have been unable to work for over 3 years now. We did a whole lot of research during the course of the video, and there are some clear, negative side-effects, but I think the big issue is that the people who are suffering the consequences of frequent donations are generally poor people... so no one really cares to fund research into it. We just don't know the full effects of donating that often, so I wouldn't be surprised if essential thrombocytosis is a side-effect.

But stil i wouldnt mind to donate some blood if i had a money issue and currently prices and inflation are not realy easy to fix financialy. im currently stuck in a ather situation which prevents me from working.. im waiting on a court date for that. I tried selling my blood once in college to help pay bills (it was actually plasma instead of blood, so it's a slightly different process). They required a minimum amount to be viable/get paid. The first time I tried it, I got so dizzy they had to stop before I could give enough to count. The second time, I didn't pass the pre-screening because I was so incredibly nervous that my heart rate was higher than accepted. After that I never went back, it was incredibly anxiety inducing and they didn't pay enough for it to be worth that.
They really try to rope you in - on campus, they KNOW there were college students with bills to pay. And even if that didn't rope you in, they play to your humanity. "You're being paid AND you get to help people!" - those were their selling points.

I'm watching this video having once been a poor student in Germany. I have a CSL Plasma account and I've donated dozens of times, by now I've quit years ago. Once I had a relatively decent job on the side, I stopped selling plasma because the side effects are severe, even for a healthy young adult.
When you're selling plasma they're filtering out your antibodies and other proteins from the bloodstream which hampers your immune system until your body has replaced them.
It took me about two days with good rest and proper nutrition to get back to a normal level (the bloodbank does test this and I had simultaneous tests done by my GP) so the time of 48 hours until the next donation isn't chosen at random, it's quite literally the fastest turn around time.
In those 48 hours you're so much more vulnerable, I usually got sick once or twice a year but when donating every third or fourth donation (for lack of a better word...) I would come down with something. It ended up just not being worth it in the slightest.
By the way, even in Germany where regulations are a lot more stringent than the US most of the people selling plasma are doing it out of need and most of them aren't exactly what I'd call young and healthy. I've seen many alcoholics and homeless selling plasma. These people should receive help and not be exploited in this manner. I'd rather have a government mandated quota of 2 donations a year or something for everyone to make up hospital demand than having capitalism literally deal in blood.

Luckily now i do have a full time WFH job in data entry but I can afford everything but... food. I've tried everything. Budgeting, all the shit. But I'm still malnourished because I can't afford to eat 3 meals a day, im lucky if i can get one. I'm about to lose my foodstamps too because i "make too much money".
so all that being said, it really resonated with me how desperate people are to just survive and live in my country. I literally have been considering plasma donating just to finally not be hungry. It's a nightmare here right now.
edit: thank you for the unexpected support. im gonna be okay, dont worry lol and yes, i do eat a lot of rice for those mentioning it LOL but i didnt consider adding beans to it for more protein. It's not ultra tasty, but if you're malnourished, you might want to try some bagged rice (not instant rice), dried beans (much cheaper than canned), and ideally get them from an ethnic shop, which offer better deals than normal supermarkets (Chinese, Indian, Mexican, etc) I think combined they create a complete protein, and are some of the cheapest sources of calories around. Also, if you have a food bank in your area, PLEASE DO NOT BE ASHAMED TO USE IT. They are there to help, and there is no shame in using one. I wish for you the best, Feverdream.

It’s why hospitals will encourage anyone who wants to donate directly, as many for profit companies are allowed to visit schools and on the streets to trick them into thinking it’s given for free to save people’s lives in return. It’s just like the “school programs” that take donations from businesses under the guise of helping kids, illegally employ children to sell their products for junk objects unpaid, and bribe the school a bit to get away with it. All 3 are massive markets for the elite, with plasma being even more coveted. It’s still extremely scummy.

I was really disappointed with how disengenious they were here. Yes, the techbro / vampire stuff has to go, and 48 hours timeout is to short. But they blatently lied. They knowingly interchanged periods for full blood and plasma donation waiting periods in different countries, which are not the same thing and they are very well aware of it. Its 2 weeks for plasma in AU, which is very different from what they claim. And while plasma donations seemingly do have a problem in certain regions, they pretend as if it is only used for nefarious reasons. Completely ignoring that the immunoproteins and clotting factors gained from them are literal live savers. It's good to remain skeptical and remain informed - and boy boy demonstrated very well that it applies to their content aswell, scince they demonstrably lied to further their own agenda here.
