    I fell in love with Z's almost 30 years ago when my Dad started working at a Nissan dealer. He brought home a lightly used black 300zx TT and I was in love. It continued the only part of our relationship that stood up. He passed before the reveal. Seeing the Z reveal by Nissan I was actually in tears. One way or another I'll end up with one, just hating the mark up.

    For people that don't like hearing that Nissan revised almost 80% of the existing parts to be better, here's a couple or so points to keep in mind.
    1. The R35 GT-R changed a TON of times and was updated constantly almost every year to be better and faster since the first version. For over a decade, Nissan did nothing but update the GT-R. Why? For one, it saves a TON of money. Why develop a whole new platform, when what you currently have, is literally matching competition still? Update what can help the car be better and better, and, do minor updates on the inside and outside to keep it relevant. You save tons of money while also offering a badass vehicle.
    2. This allowed Nissan to KEEP the Z alive. Toyota, the biggest vehicle manufacturer in the world, said that it's "too expensive" to develop a sports car on their own.
    What?
    They redevelop cars constantly and update them constantly. The GR Yaris and GR Corolla are not going to be high sellers, yet they made them anyways. Then, we have 2 GR86's that are completely the same apart from the exterior looks and interior options. The Supra is an amazing vehicle, but they needed BMW's help which I absolutely call bs on.
    Meanwhile, Nissan uses what they have (which was already a fantastic sports car for the money) and updated it to be modern, look more like a classic Z, and offer an amazing value for what you get. Who cares if the bones are the same? Who cares if the door and door panel are from the 370Z? Would you rather have pure plastic panels or soft touch plastics?
    It's completely asinine that people are complaining about something they won't even own anyways and/or have zero understanding on how important the Z is to the car enthusiast community.

Good luck my fellow enthusiasts.

    This is one of those cars that looks better in person. The hips and a$$ being the best view imo.
    FYI- the trans is "relatively" new for Nissan and has been used in like 1-2 trucks/suvs fairly reliably. I want to say it is Merc sources via Jatco.
    The manual will be close to what a lot of Nissan/Infiniti owners are familiar with (not the best but very far from the worst).
    Also, expect big aftermarket support- same engine in Q50/60 has been shown to dip in the 9s-10s. But out of the gate expect easy high 11's/low 12's with minimal to moderate tune/parts. Visit a site like Z1 to gauge an idea of what to expect.

    I’ve been waiting on this car ever since rumors and concepts came out years ago. Currently we are weeks away before the new z starts showing up at dealerships and I think my opinion on it has changed. At first I thought about getting my hands on the 1st year production model but thought about it and it would be a better and safer choice to wait at least the first 2-3 years. Gives plenty of time for many mods to be introduced to the martlet specially body kits. Also by then hopefully we have the nismo version out. I agree with Alex, the manual would be the best option to go with, we don’t know what issues the automatic transmission will have. We just gotta wait and see, in case I do go for it I already got a specific whee set up and look. Car would definitely look good wrapped in jade Millenium green with either black or bronze/champagne colored wheels, a couple of carbon fiber pieces, bagged and called it a day.

      @ACommenterOnYouTube Před 2 lety +4

      As a MKIV Supra owner ... i was excited to hear about the new MKV, that is until we heard that BMW was making it, then i lost all interest in it.
      As a 300ZX and S14 chassis owner, this Z is NICE .. I will go for the auto because its just easier and i have NO plans to beat the shit out of it. My S14 and my 300ZX are manual, my Supra and Genesis are Automatic.
      Both have their plus and minus but at the end of the day, the automatic is just SO MUCH easier.
      And again, my goal is not to beat on the Z but to enjoy the drive and i don't need a manual to enjoy it.

    • @lopez156210
      @lopez156210 Před 2 lety +2

      @@ACommenterOnCZcams the MKV is actually a pretty nice ride but everyone has different taste, though it does feel pretty much like driving a bmw. Everyone has their preferences when it comes to which type of transmission to go with. The automatic tends to be a lot more comfortable if you happen to live in big cities with lots of traffic. Like you said they both have their pros and cons we don’t know what kind of problems the 1st year lot will have. Hopefully nothing major or otherwise it’ll take the first 2-3 years to maybe address some of the potential problems. The design, both the interior and exterior are refreshing but there is one major issue that can have an impact on the new z. That is going to be its price and the mark ups at dealers. The new z base model is already 11k more expensive than the predecessor. The nismo hasn’t even been announced yet but with the way it’s going I won’t even be surprise if it has a price tag of like 60-65k. Prices along may cause some potential buyers to skip the vehicle for good or at least for a couple of years. With how the market is it’s actually a bad idea. Regardless, there’s going to be people who buy the z to flip it for a quick buck. It happened with cars such as the Civic type r, the MKV and with the c8 corvette. The question is, how much are these mark ups are going to be. That’s why waiting a year or two doesn’t sound so bad right. Who knows maybe by then things go back to normal with the car market and we may even start seeing rebates and discounts on vehicles. My last advice is that if you do decide to buy one, shop around and if you can find a dealer that does MSRP then go for it. Don’t be the reason guys why the dealer is having a pizza party the following day lol cuz they manage to sell you a car for 10k+ over what it’s worth.

    The 370z's engine, VQ37VHR, doesn't see a significant bump in the peak torque at any particular rpm, as the torque curve is fairly flat across the rev range. This was by design with the VVEL system that seeks to maintain a high volumetric efficiency across a wide range of rpm. If you need more torque at the rear wheels you simply downshift, although with the large displacement high-compression NA engine in the 370Z you still get decent instantaneous performance by just stepping on the pedal.

This is gonna be a a great car but if this was to be the last ICE Z I think Nissan shouldve gone all the way like Chevy did with putting a corvette engine in the Camaro and put the last GTR engine in it. Then again that could be something they do with the Nismo. I do think sound had something to do with it though because the VR30 sounds more like the VQs(heritage and all the old Z did have a varient with the old RB engine in it.) but more than likely it would be because of cost if im being honest. Please update the fitment industry website to display a larger image of the cars? The current picture is too small, making it difficult to see the wheel setup clearly

    10 Year vet here- and i do have to say that within all of the experience points I've accumulated throughout the years, this has to be one of the most rarer types I've ever seen. There's been speculation about it and whether or not I like to think on it as apose to it being the car of the year in my eyes or to anybody that sees it BUT with all do respect I would have to, ultimately, speculate any judgement on it and base it off of that. If you've read this far then I hope you're really confused lmao. In all seriousness, I'm contemplating whether to get the auto or manual.

    Although I do like the new Z I just wish it was closer to the Z32 300zx in style. Not just another 240z style because it's already been done before aka 350z.

    People bash the Z for being a parts bin car, well YEA its keeping to its heritage and using 3 generations of Z to build this one ... They didn't hide it, they specifically made it this way ..
    Look at the Zupra ... Transgender Supra at that. Its also a parts bin car. BMW Z4 chassis, BMW M240i B58 engine, BMW X5 interior, BMW suspension, and the new manual is parted out from 4 different BMW transmissions .... i mean, talk about parts bin car and transmission ...

    I love my new Z, so does everyone else. I’ve driven plenty of nice cars, I’ve never gotten the attention that the Z gets. When I pull into meets, there will be 10 lambos and 20 bmws, I’m the only one.. I have seen one other Z, but even now, you won’t see them often.

    I went to the Cleveland auto show and one of the Nissan reps said they’d be starting at 40k. Which I’m honestly hoping for, because some are saying 50k base model. I wouldn’t mind spending 50 on a top tier package but the base? Idk if it would be worth it.

    • @FitmentIndustries
      @FitmentIndustries  Před rokem

      40k wouldn't be awful. 50k for a base model is definitely a stretch.
