There's always a bigger fish. Was that the Far Lands at then end? Those used to be a substitute for the void in the earliest builds of Subnautica. Giant cliffs that went endlessly down in the water and went above the water to stop you from leaving the map. This was really well made as well.

My guess is that they weren’t either vortex or toxic gas torpedoes. Although Alterra phased out weaponry in the blueprints “following the massacre on Obraxus Prime,” we don’t know if this team has anything to do with Alterra. Probably not. It’s possible that they are poachers, stealing resources from Alterra, or that the planet is now considered a Disputed Territory, because of the Torgal team and their survivor, Marguerit Maida. Whatever the case, this new team may not be under the same rules as Alterra’s teams are. My guess is that the torpedoes were supposed to cause an explosion, but the creature was so big they were like tiny firecrackers in his gut, and nothing besides a mild case of heartburn was the result.
@@brianbommarito3376 any kind of torpedoes, being inside of the creature that size, should, at least, inflict some pain. None of that, though... So, maybe, this guy inside the vehicle was just so stupid, and he used flashbangs?
Okay, this was freaking terrifying! I do not know how I ever completed Subnautica to be honest. I'm literally terrified of the ocean and deep water, if I cannot see the bottom I always feel like something monstrous and nightmarish is watching me from just out of sight, it freaks me out to just imagine that image, and Subnautica plays with that fear. Side note: The idea of a predator using a bio-luminescent lure to attract prey is so underutilized in Subnautica, they could have done something with that to trick the player into thinking the lure was some kind of important resource to have it actually work on the player and scare them the first time, like the angler fish trick in the abyss in SOMA (if anyone's played that and knows what I'm talking about)
That was brilliant! You did an amazing job of capturing the Subnautica experience and spirit, in only seven minutes! This is something I wish I could’ve seen in the actual game, it was that good!
Dudeee, This is so impressive, This whole animation and modeling and texturing and just everything by just around 1-2 people? This is truly a masterpiece and I'm sure I can see a future for you in this field. Very well done and I hope to see more from you! Amazing animation!
i love this, we know that the gargantuan leviathan is the largest creature to have ever lived on planet 4546B, but there are so many creatures we dont know about so i love seeing peoples own take on other creatures and leviathans, because we dont know whats out there in the void, and thats the most terrifying part
Dude this is really cool, awesome job. Very atmospheric and great attention to detail! Also me and my thalassophobia would like you to know that we hate your guts. 😊
This was amazing, especially the last part - exactly the kind of incomprehensible display of nature that others (even sometimes subnautica itself) can't seem to grasp well enough to depict. Only constructive critique was that the voice acting on the male character was not great, but its fixable stuff. The reason why it wasnt great was that emphasis were being placed on the wrong words, it was more of an ongoing drawl than a clear sentence, and most importantly the emotion was not there in moments where the character should've been scared out of their wits and in sheer terror. Again, not knocking the voice actor themselves, but with the rest of the quality of this short being so top tier it's worth mentioning, because it's something that can be worked on and changed!
Bro this is the best thing I've seen. Your job at 3D The modeling is simply amazing. I hope you will be hired as a developer for this game. Keep up the good work
I recently started playing subnautica and its dlc, very nice short I remembered the first hours of play in this game, especially in the moment when I finding the adult ghost leviathan.
Ok lets put the obvious out of the way : this is Amazing. Good storytelling Excellent animation. This beautifully translates the aspect of Thalassaphobia, both for Subnautica and real life. I always love the fear factor of giant creatures lurking in the deep, dark ocean. Not to mention the Leviathan is stellar. Astounding work my dude.
Great story and animation! Both the script and the voice acting left a lot to be desired, but I'll just assume you weren't exactly going for an oscar. LOL
The animation and storyline is very nice, not the usual loop of some dude being not alone. Yet I do wonder, are you German? You sound very german, I am so I would know.
I just checked. At the end of October I started the first model (Leviathan). The last 2 weeks I started making music and FX... :) I can't say exactly how many hours that was. In the evening after work 1-2 h daily. Thank you very much
I may not be easily scared by Subnautica, but if this abomimation was in the actual game then durning trying to lose it i would most likely be as calm as possible, while also shaking all over my body Thats because being in the Dunes so many times made me have balls of steel Overall, fantastic animation
This was really well done, and there was just enough dialogue to make you feel empathy for the characters who had worked hard to get where they were, and were enjoying their exploration, and then had it turn into a nightmare fight for their lives.
I so rarely find people who acknowledge that the "Sea Moth" was actually supposed to operate in space, too! Congrats!
It supposed. But, without strong gravity influence nearby. And to land the planet's surface - even to water - that's just too much for such a vehicle. Also, just imagine, if there would be something hard enough, slightly below the water surface. Landing wouldn't be so good.

Don’t remember it being used to re-entry or atmospheric travel otherwise it landing on a planet is a one way trip for it.
I like to think of the Sea Moth as a ‘ship to shore’ vessel.
@@amplifier8435 I think you put way too much thought into it.

I think there was literally a scrapped leviathan concept like this
You should try the Subnautica mod "Call of the Void" when it comes out then. That fear becomes a reality, and then some.
