I’m a 50 year old man who drank for 35 years. I have congestive heart failure. I have been sober for 6 months & some change. I have gone from 270 lbs to 232. 110/65 BP. 63 RHR. I walk at least 10,000 steps a day up to 25,000. Zone 2 cardio. 30 minutes of weights 3x/wk. 15 min of HIIT 3x/wk. I eat what I want pretty much. 2 tools are my Apple Watch and my Lumen Metabolic Tracker. High protein. I carb cycle and intermittent fast. I have one hamburger a week and one donut. lol! Otherwise, drinking just isn’t worth it anymore. I feel great. I’m a little more of a boring person but I’m loving life and being clear headed. Thanks a lot for the videos Doc. You’re a cool cat. I didn’t think the video was going to be about booze and I hope my story helps. Getting hammered in your 20s is fun but you want to re-evaluate that $hit in your 30s and minimize or eliminate it in your 40s…don’t be like me. Lmao. I had fun but I’m paying for it now.

I'm doing a 60 day challenge of no alchohol right now. Started about 2 weeks a go, and I'm using your diet technique that I stumbled upon two weeks ago. So far, I'm starting to notice a difference. Lets see in 60 how it'll be.

Great , great video Dr. Mike You've just confirmed everything. I've been feeling and thinking .This video hit on everything I been dealing with when it comes to alcohol. Sleep is off, wanting to eat more food and the wrong foods. How I feel the next day Wow! I remember when I took alcohol out of my daily for a year. My Knee pain stop. I didn't have all the aches but now since i've been consuming alcohol again it's back.
So Thanks Dr.Mike I needed this one 👍🏽

I have to say I am indeed a drinker & as I’ve gotten into fitness I’ve done my drinking in moderation & find healthier ways to indulge so to speak bc typically moderation is key too much of anything is never good for you problem is a lot of drinkers aren’t responsible your mindset has to be stronger in terms of whatever goals you want to reach in your fitness journey to avoid irresponsible decision making & fatigue the following day from binging bc if you feel like crap you’ve consumed more than you should have. Amazing vid very helpful since alcohol is so socially acceptable today.

I did a dry Jan after the holidays and it’s turned into a dry March. I don’t plan on stopping. Yes, I crave a glass from time to time but I’ve found ways and other substitutes to help me continue. The biggest benefit I’ve found is more energy and better sleep. I wake up early feeling energetic as opposed to sluggish.

As for me I went almost a full month without alcohol and it didn’t make a difference much at all. I eat very slim and my consumption of alcohol was only about 1 cocktail a few times a night or even just straight alcohol shots. I know it’s bad and I’m better off without it completely but for some reason I wake up earlier than my alarm and can function fine day after. That being said if i went out party night before and had more than 1-3 shots or 2 mixed drinks then I would I would be sluggish and have all that sugar in my system

Would be great to get more insights into the following:
Beer's additional calories from carbohydrates and potential impact on glucose metabolism may contribute differently to body fat compared to, say, drinking straight whiskey (assume same alcohol consumption). Timing of alcohol consumption may also be important in reducing its impact on body fat. Finally, many people eat poorly when consuming grog, like kebabs and chips, so we automatically assume it is the alcohol that put on the fat.
Only raising the above as I often think of those studies that conclude, say, 1 glass of wine is healthy for you. It probably isn't. The likely problem with these studies is that more educated and (usually) often healthier individuals drink wine AND exercise, you dig?
