    I am on the Sobriety and Self-Improvement journey for the last 3.5 years. I can listen to Ryan talk for days and days. Having Josh on is something special to me, thank you Ryan. Have a great day everyone.

      Likewise. I'm 4 months sober from alcohol after a 2-year bender of drinking 12-15 drinks a day. I totally resonate with the wavelengths Ryan and Josh operate on. I've been into self-help, psychology, philosophy, etc books since I was a late teen. Stoicism is the philosophy that really struck a chord with me when I first came across it over a decade ago.

      Congratulations! I'm 6 years and 3 months clean from heroin. And I actually have had major health issues come up from an accident and now heart issues to the point that the feeling has been like heroin withdrawals /10 times worse but nothing you do stops it. I found him and it's helpful with trying to deal with life. Doing better but no drugs or good time is worth chanceing your health. I wish I could go back and take care of myself from the beginning. But I can only try to be okay now and hope I will one day heal

    It’s really interesting to me to stumble on this podcast. As someone born in 1994, Josh was in my TV screen via Nickelodeon specifically Drake & Josh. He did such a great job of playing the “overweight nerd” everyone wanted to be like Drake. Fast forward 20 years and Josh is an example of a great man. Sober, healthy, in love, confident in himself and who he is and what he stands for. All the while Drake is pleading guilty to charges of child endangerment and engaging in Twitter arguments with people who likely have his best interests at heart. Really great podcast. Josh Peck sets a great example to anyone!

    I've never heard of Josh Peck, but as someone who's quit alcohol 4 months ago after a 2-year bender in which I drank 12-15 servings of alcohol a day and someone from a broken home with an inclination towards chaos and self-sabotage, I totally get where's he's coming from.

    What did I like about this interview? The maturity of that man. It only comes from growth. Wow.

    “You can’t choose your parents but you can choose whose children you want to be.” Wow-that statement just weaved itself into the core of my healing. Profound.

    Norm did that because he didn't want to insult Bob because he loved him so much. Norm did not enjoy roasting people he liked.

    This was great to listen to. Just one thing though: watch the generalizations you make about Boomers. I´ve been studying the philosophers since the 70´s, not every boomer is out of touch. We were there from the beginning and it´s been decades since we first picked up a book on self-mastery, the highest achievement for any human being. Keep learning and growing, but please knock off lumping entire groups together like you did with boomers. #Stoicism

    Alcohol isn't really the problem though is it... The problem is the mind and mentality it is stimulating.

    • @philawsonfur
      @philawsonfur Před 2 lety

      It's a mix of both. it most definitely is a problem. it's a toxin. every time it's ingested, the body is fighting to metabolize it and get it out, as a result creating micro damages to the body and the brain. just one sip gets the wheel of destruction going

      If alcohol is the only thing in your life that stimulates that specific mind/mentality, then alcohol is the problem isnt it....
      If multiple things stimulate that mind/mentality, then you could be correct.

      I liked the energy exchange. It felt real. This was not an accademic exercise but rather something more akin to art, kindness, and spirituality. My favorite kind of discussions are like this. Thanks guys
