    12 years later - I loved this patch! But since I don't have a piezo bridge on my electric, I reversed the roles, and had the model guitar at a piezo steel string and my normal pickups I did the trick with the delay and tremolo. It doesn't sound exactly the same, but still cool. Thanks Kennis.

    Kennis,
    I bought my GR-55/GK-3 months ago, and immediately loved the potential of the hardware (I felt validated in my purchase), downloaded some patches from some people on the net, and just had some out-of-the-box fun with the machine...
    But for months (since Jan. 2015), I have been dreading actually delving in and learning how exactly to configure each patch, given that there are 910(?)x2 PCM tones, along with many amp models, MODs, MFXs, etc. etc. etc... (And I'm a full-time programmer by day, so the last thing I want to do, is to have to come home and seriously figure out how the user experience for this thing is supposed to behave, etc.)
    Well, I made it a mission this week to finally get in tune with this awesome piece of hardware and to start writing again, and the appreciation that I have for this 4 part tutorial is quite immense.
    Thank you SO MUCH, for the overview, and subtle, yet invaluable tips.. You have, literally, just saved me hours of ramp-up time with figuring out how to navigate the edit screens, configuring the tap tempo (seriously, awesome, dude), and just, in general, what PCM tones are, exactly, MOD, MFX, etc.
    I owe ya a drink, brother. Thanks again!

    I have watched many videos on the GR55 and yours are by far the most useful. That said I am still struggling with understanding the function of the 3 position switch on the GC1 and how the normal guitar output is configured. It's not clear as you can switch the normal output on and off in the patch but seems to make no difference, I am sure its a global system setting but can't see where. I just need to understand this part and the outputs so I can decide the best way to wire up with my guitar and and PA. If you can shed any light on this area it would be great. Many thanks. :-)

    Hi Kennis, great tutorials as always, thanks for all your time, effort and enthusiasm. I copied your patch edit tutorial, with slight variation as I don't have piezo pickups I used the 'model' to create an acoustic tone, and my real pickups for the electric tone, adjusting the 'structure' routing' accordingly. Problem is whatever patch I write I find all 4 patch components switched off so I can't do a quick change between my patches with the pedals. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rob

    Thanks for the tutorial, it really helps me decide if I am going to get one. But i have two concerns, 1. Can is still use my analog guitar pedals such as Boss and MXR using my normal pick? since that i saw a guitar output at the back of the board, can i plug my analog effect pedals there and does it work neatly? 2. What amps are you using? I am using a marshal guitar amp, would that sound ok if i am using synth and piano and other synth stuff on the GR 55? Thanks

    Hi Kenni, congratulations for your videos.
    I have the Godin xtSA and the Roland GR-55, I'm undertaking some problems with the false triggers, the unwanted notes, I find the guitar very sensible. I connected the guitar with option "Piezo R" but I still have problems. Can you tell me how did you set up the Godin, ( sensitivity, nuance, velocity,etc) Thank you very much. Federico.

    I've had the VG-99 for a few years now and I don't have a full grasp of all its complexit. Yet I just got my GR-55 a week ago and after watching these 4 videos I have a better understanding of the GR-55. Thanks! If there's one thing you could have expanded on is on the programming of the expansion pedal and the Control pedal. About the Godin XTSA you use in the video, is the higher-end LGX SA AAA worth the extra $Grand?

      Thanks Kennis. I just tried the GR-55 live on Sunday and it was not as great as i had expected. I know i have a lot of tweaking to do w/ patches to get it to sound great going direct to the sound board. It was wierd, through my headphones it sounded amazing but when i plugged in direct, it was pretty bad. I actually had to go back to my HD500x on sunday.

    Spent all day doing this (twice)learned a lot. Thanks!!! Q. what kind of guitar speaker do you have there? How does the reso bass sound not blow the speaker like I just did? LOL. Also, how did you learn this patch/stuff? Never in a million would I thought to +50 this -50 that, etc. I would just bypass that resso cause it is too weird. Your demo patch sounds excellent through head phones. Gotta go burry my guitar amp, thanks to reso!

    Hello! first of all congratulations for videos. I'm having trouble setting up my guitar godin concert grand with the Roland GR55. It happens that can only operate on synthesizer volume because the pure guitar volume does not appear. That's just get the sounds synthesized via Mid cable with no possibility of playing only the sounds of own guitar. How should I proceed?I appreciate your attention.

    • @chenchomaracatu
      @chenchomaracatu Před 9 lety

      You can put the regular 1/4 cable to amp channel in order to let sound the acoustic sound of your grand concert. Then, use the 13 pin cable to get gr-55 sounds
