Kennis, it's people like you who make my life so much easier, less confused and pleasant. Thank you so much for a very clear, understandable explanation of something which was at first daunting.
Kennis, nice job. I just ordered one of these, and your videos are really convincing me that I might be able get the most out of it.
Great tutorials. I watched many videos on this guitar processor, but this is the most comprehensive with lots of detail and demonstrations. It helped me a great deal to discover the whole world of this wonderful guitar synth. Now I am able to build my own tones and combinations of effects easily. Thank you very much!
Very generous of you to make this vid bro. I have the GR-55, GR-1 and an old unused GR-100. I used to have a GR-700 but I sold it. Duh! I would die today for a GR-300. This video is very cool. If you have the time, keep making GR-55 instructional videos because the unit has a lot of layers and you are really good at explaining all of them. Just keep us plugged in to each detail. Don't go too fast. Do lots of them and focus on small details and you will get many hits for your expertise. Thanks.
Kennis your obviously a genuinely generous person and I agree with the other positive comments! Roland/Boss and their retailers should be grateful to you too.I watched your videos before buying mine.you definitely instill validity to this processer .
I just bought a GR-55 and these video's are great. Thanks
Very helpful for a newb! Only just got mine so still figuring out the basics. Thank you!
Hi, Thank you so much for these videos.
I've had my head stuck in the manual all day and have learned more in the last 30 mins than my brain can take!!
I have some questions..but will need to remember what they are ..and i need to first absorb all i have learn't so far!!
Roland needs to pay you for these videos, they are amazing! thanks!
Thanks, I have mine for 2 years and now, I am discovering it again.
Superb Job yet again. Thank you!!
Very good!

Great stuff thanks much!!
thank you very much for ur video~ really helpful
Thank you for the video

Hello Kennis. Thanks for your videos on the GR-55. I just purchased mine a couple of months ago. I also have the XTSA Godin guitar. I just used my GR55 for the first time at a gig. I had the stereo outs running through my PA mixing board and the guitar out to my amp. I set up two separate patches, one for strings and the other distortion. They both come out of the PA beautifully but I would like to hear them coming through my amp as well so I can reference what I'm hearing. Can you suggest something? I'm thinking about using quarter inch Y connector from the stereo outs into my amp and from the out of my amp into the PA system.
Kennis very nice job. I really appreciate you demo. I also have a Godin xtsa but am having sensitivity problems. I turn sensitivity all way down to zero and it is still too sensitive. How do you have yours set? Art
Hi Kennis
Great videos. I just got my GR-55 and after watching your videos, it just makes things so much simpler. Thanks a lot for taking the time to put up these videos.
I had a basic question, which I'd be grateful if you could answer.
1. Is it possible to get the normal guitar pickup sound using a external effects unit (Digitech GSP 1101) from the Left and right outputs of the GR-55 or does the external effects processor have to be routed through the Guitar Out jack only?
Thanks
Prash
Greate! Finaly i could get the Tele bridge thoriugh the GR whit out any coloration :) Thanx!
Kennis,
I was working through your videos here just to get a more in depth grasp on the power of this wonderful little unit and one thing that I was having a bit of trouble with was the dotted eighth note on the tap tempo for the delay. It works great for the tremolo but I was not getting the effect to happen on the delay. I basically followed every step that you were doing to see what I might have missed but I can't seem to find it. Btw, it was because of your first videos of this unit and the Godin XTSA that I purchased both. I love the Godin guitar, it will never leave my collection.
If you have any pointers on the tap tempo please let me know when ever you get a chance to read this.
Thank you,
Eric
Kennis, great stuff from you! I had the GR33, had sustain and pitch glide pedals. loved these!
now I have the GR55
how can I do sustain?
make pedal go up full octave?
where is the tuner?
I am a slow learner. Well done pice. I need to watch more instructional videos, I am working with the factory presets. Witch limiting. Great job Thank you.
This is old vid.... But Thanks! Very helpful to help me get launched.
Thanks a lot
That's what I thought Kennis and thanks for the swift reply. That's the way I'm doing it but I'm also using the COSMs into my ext. fx. It's a shame Roland have it that way round, I'd have liked the slicer on my guitar and the wah. (Another bit of stage real estate taken up!)
Thanks for all your support. My pickups both ghost piezo and humbuckers are very low compared to the PCM - will strict help this ?
Hello! first of all congratulations for videos. I'm having trouble setting up my guitar godin concert grand with the Roland GR55. It happens that can only operate on synthesizer volume because the pure guitar volume does not appear. That's just get the sounds synthesized via Mid cable with no possibility of playing only the sounds of own guitar. How should I proceed?I appreciate your attention.
Thank you very much for your reply !!! But which buttons do i press to cancel that global setting ?
Thanks again, in advance
Hi, Thank you so much for the tutorials,I have had my head stuck in the Manual for days..and your videos have helped me loads!
One thing I am struggling with is the guitar pick up sound(routed through the guitar out jack) it's probably me and forgive my ignorance..but could you post a video describing the initial settings required to have a modelled guitar sound with effects - routed to a combo amp as nothing i seem to do effects the output!
Thanks again
Luke
I realize I am kinda off topic but does anyone know a good website to stream new movies online ?
I, like many other users would like to use the unit as a guitar fx unit and also the COSM for emulations, occasionally, or more than occasionally I would like to use the PCMs to add something to the sound or pretend we have a hidden keyboard player.( I don't want the PCM sounds going to my amp though so the stereo outs would go to the PA.) This is apparently not possible using the Guitar out, as all of the FX are only available for the stereo outs. Am I missing something?
I also want to ask you, with the gk switch turned to guitar only. Can you explain how that works with this unit .I know how it works with the gr-20 but it is different with Gr-55,MUCH THANKS TO YOU SIR
Can you direct it to the "Console" without using a Guitar Amp like the Helix LT?
👍
I still like the sounds of the Piano, Horns, Strings, Vibes as well as the guitar modeling sounds. I play in a cover band, a Blues band, Solo and in church and I'm looking for something that's practical on the live gig. Can this be used as just an Guitar processor and effect along with the synth capabilities ?? Can I set up the guitar sounds in cronilogical orger like what I have on my GT-100 in Banks and Patches and still be able to access the Synth sounds. I know it does't have 3 engines like the SY1000 so is any of that even possible. I want to get rid of having an Guitar Processer pedal board along with the GR-33 guitar synth. I'd like to combine them into one unit. Everything is great on the SY-1000 ecept the fact that it doesn't have the Piano sounds and it seems very complicated. Can you help me out with this problem.
can you please make a video on
How to update GR55 Firmware with USB Cable
how can i change pick ups sound rear to front with hold pedal?
Roland should be paying you for these tutorials. They're way beyond anything they provide besides their users manual that's way too big to use realistically!
So you just have 3 spaces for the chain? the amp, the mods (including the od/ds inside) and the MFX for more fancy fx, isn't it? It's blowing my mind off, because i'm looking betwen this gr55 and the boss gt10. I want the gr55 for the guitar modeling, but I'm loosing a lot of things in comparison with the gt10
Good evening !!!! what can i do to fix a problem ? when i make settings for the control pedal or for the expression pedal in the "user" mode , it affects all the other patches in that mode ...... please help !!!!
@kennisrussell ..So the guitar out signal cant have amp sim or any cosm effects on it?
Intelligent Pitch Shifter it is other name (I am not sure but I have seen it before) as harmonist.
You sayed that is has not so it is does not matter
Does the GR-55 have harmonist or Intelligent Pitch Shifter?
I am asking because you did not mentioned somthing like that.
can i connect a gr55 yo a sm58 and a rc 505 ?
When do we get to the sound of a lap steel guitar?
but can i do this from guitar out ?
very godo - learned a lot - could you for example just play a while to show the possibilities of what you do with teh unit? just play - no words - let us hear the wonders of your sounds
Cannot memorize a patch to a pedal despite user manuel page16 😜
Hello,
have you checked the information about GK Expander?
Watch the video on youtube....
Too complicated for me.
10 years later; Roland routing is still dumb.
Again why wasting a whole video showing sounds of guitar? I can play those on any other guitar. Show something else
Extremely hard to follow. You are all over the place. You start something, change your mind, move your stuff all over. That's 2 hours I'll never get back. Horrible.
