🏆 ONEWHEEL VS. ELECTRIC UNICYCLE (EUC) / BEST URBAN ELECTRIC VEHICLE

  • Onewheel or electric unicycle, what best urban elctric vehicle to choose ? Onewheel devices 100% are leaders in urban personal electric vehicle industry. Electric unicycle is lightweight, portable and very fast. You can easily take it on the subway or bus, as well as take euc down the stairs. But if you do not want to use city transport for moving, the electric unicycle has an excellent power reserve and can travel on a single charge from 30 to 150 km, depending on the model. You can often get to a certain point in the city faster than by car or public transport. Onewheel or a electric unicycle is not of primary importance. But the urban personal transport of the future is definitely behind the electric devices and EUCs.

    Honestly, EUCs are infinitely more versatile than pretty much any other PEV. How many PEVs can you take from pavement to forest paths or grass with speed? Or even riding on winter?!!? An off-road scooter might come close, but you'll get a better range with the same money as an EUC. Not to mention those scooters weigh ass-ton and aren't nearly as manoeuvrable.
    And there's also one MAJOR pro EUCs have for commuting against these "sk8r stance" PEVs: No blind spots. Skating stance = Blind spot on your backside. That's major traffic hazard.
    Only the real reasons EUCs aren't super mainstream is that they're pretty spooky. Not only is the learning curve quite intimidating, but the whole idea of "one-wheeled segway without the steering handle" sounds dangerous as heck.

    EUC hands down beats OW but what most EUC users are forgetting is that, most OW owners are not using it for daily commute but as a recreational device. Also third party company is doing a great job bringing the experience to the users such as float fest, where a lot of OW users converge for the week and just ride together. Just my personal opinion.

    • @ekolkacz
      @ekolkacz  Před 2 lety

      I am using OW for daily commute, but the truth is that you can do that only if the distance is not long (up to 10-15km max.)

  • @m.m85434
    @m.m85434 Před 3 lety +3

    I think that it would make sense compare same price cattegories in that case would end up result probably more on the EUC end. Problem of One Wheel is that there is not so many options like in case of EUC. You can buy nimble EUCs, fast EUCs, torque EUCs, small battery, large battery, suspension, whatever you desire (if you have money for that :)). In case of One Weel is there basically just R+ or Pint so range/speed is simply enough for you, or you have to look for different device where is more diversity and options. I formerly wanted One Wheel and found EUCs through channels which are covering both, at the beggining I considered EUC as toy (like hoverboards) but when I have seen what these things can do I knew I need one - btw Veteran Sherman owner here and I love that thing.
    Oh and one more comment, Unicycle seems to have more natural way of standing on it. I am skiing and snowboarding and with more years I found that snowboarding posture is just tougher for my back and hips and it can hurt after some time. On EUC you have very natural "straight standing" posture, so maybe one thing to consider as well :) but I understand that this is not valid for everyone.

    • @ekolkacz
      @ekolkacz  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for your comment. The main topic was best commuter electric device. So main specifications were weight and acceptable range. For sure EUC has much more options but it is not for everyone the same as Onewheel is also not for everyone

    Good video and review. I have both the OW Pint and the Inmotion V8F. I really like both for different reasons. I absolutely love the Pint for fun and excercise but I would not wish to commute on it. I like the V8F for trips to the store or I could see it being very comfortable for commuting, the form factor, especially the trolley handle, makes the transition from being a rider to being a pedestrian almost seemless.

    I was about to pull the trigger on a onewheel, until I realized you can get twice the performance on a euc for the same price, now I’m looking at a euc but is the learning curve as hard as people make it out to be? My biggest thing would be side to side balance

      If you look at mileage that people are doing at such type of devices (thousands miles per year) learning curve for 1-2 hours on EUC is nothing. It is much more easy that learn to ride roller skate or snowboard. Regarding comparison EUC vs Onewheel it is not about performance but about feelings and flow if you will have change to test or rent both devices it will be the best option

    Honestly, kind of a terrible EUC choice for comparison, budget determines what you're gonna buy. I ride a gen 2 mSuper v3 from 2016, Onewheel newest XL product is STILL BEHIND it in specs after 5+ years. Ride style is great, and to each their own fun wise, but who are you kidding when it comes to an actual commute. The reason I can't justify purchasing a Onewheel is because my EUC costs me as much as the basic pint, and that thing is a glorified a hoverboard. Look I get it, its not all about specs, but ignoring how woefully out classed they are only contributes to the lackluster improvements you guys get every year. You should demand more for the prices they're asking. I know this was 2021, but that's v12 price, or a s18, or even a gotway RS. Those blow my old girl out of the water. I've been waiting for something like the s20 to make an upgrade.

    This is actually really misleading in my opinion
    Why not step it up a little and go up in price range?
    For example, I bought my USED Kingsong 18xl for 800 bucks. Top speed 32mph/50kph. Mileage: 30-40miles depending on weight and riding style
    I don't think I need to bring up the equally priced onewheel. They don't exist. They are extremely overpriced machines that over very little bang for the buck.
    NOTE I am talking about city riding and cruising. If you got your own thing that you need a onewheel for, do your thing. But we can't say that the devices are comparable when it comes to bang for the buck

    Something to keep in mind... KingSong 14D is from 2016 and Onewheel Pint is from 2019. As you know a lot has happened in the EUC world. Good comparison using Android vs Apple. Two different feelings and styles. Apple is more price but they are constantly evolving. Future Motion have a innovative product but is not evolving there Onewheels. The are only afloat because of there community and the third party products. I own both a Onewheel+ and a KS14D including several other EUC's and I dont agree with your evaluation. I wish you could have chosen a better comparison. Gotway/Begode, KingSong and InMotion have all newer "smaller" wheels/modells that all outperform Onewheels in every way. Onewheels are fun but they need to keep up if they want to be relevant and comparable to EUC's. There community, especially outside of the USA is increasingly switching to EUC's. Great channel and cinematography!

I own Veteran Sherman and when I have seen how easily were guys walking up stairs with that Kingsong wheel I was like "man I have hard time put that thing into car". So different wheels, different scenarios to use, that was also main point of my comment above, One Wheel have literally Pint or R+ and thats it, it is what you are looking for, or you have to get different device.
