    Hi Bill I did the setup using a switch and I got some pop and click from PC slave to MacBook Pro M1? Thank you very much for your tutorial.

      Make sure your DAW buffer size is large enough.

    I assume you have the VSL license(s) on the laptop host, but do you also need a license to run specifically the VSL plugin in the DAW on the piloting computer as well?

    • @BillMcFadden
      @BillMcFadden  Před 8 měsíci

      Yes, you need a license on the host and any slave computers as well.

    Excellent video, William. Thank you for sharing and showing all the steps in quite well detail, really appreciate it. What type of router are you using? Is that a specific brand/model? Thank you!

      Also, do you need two Vienna Keys and licenses (one for the master and one for the Slave?) or just the one key and license in the master computer?

    How do you setup the Cubase audio I/O tracks to route a Kontakt multi setup with instruments sent to several output pairs in an instance of VEP?

    hello i wanna ask
    what if my master computer is macbook pro m1 8gb ram
    and slave is my pc (i7 12700 64 gb)
    for the master, which onee do u prefer (mac/pc - asumming on that condition)

    • @BillMcFadden
      @BillMcFadden  Před rokem

      I'd use the mac for the master and the pc for the slave. You'll need the 64 gb to host your samples.

    so vienna would be a kind of router that uses the kontakt instruments ... and what advantages does this have for an already armed staff?

    • @BillMcFadden
      @BillMcFadden  Před 4 lety +1

      Vienna Ensemble Pro is the software that links the master computer to the slave computer and enables you to play samples on the slave computer thereby taking the strain of the master computer and allowing you to have larger tracks if needed.

    A little confused about the cable hookup,the slave machine is hooked up via rj45 to a router fine what about the master machine? What is the master doing to access the slave is another rj45 involved?

    • @BillMcFadden
      @BillMcFadden  Před 2 lety +1

      Each machine has an rj45 socket which can go through rj45 hubs as well.

      Yes, master computer needs to be also connected via RJ45 cable into switcher hub.

    Is there a reason why a switch is needed and an ethernet cable can't simply be passed from the 10 gig port on my Mac to the 10 gig port on my PC? This is the bit that confuses me. Networking is a total noob area for me unfortunately. Also, it doesn't need internet access, right? Cause my house was built without a single ethernet port, it's all wi-fi, and the structure of the house made it too big a job to even add one port retrofit.

    • @BillMcFadden
      @BillMcFadden  Před 5 měsíci

      You need an ethernet (RJ45) port on your wireless router which then connects to your computer(s) via the ethernet cable. If you only have one ethernet port on your router, you would need an ethernet switch. Hope this helps.

      @@BillMcFadden Well I am out then, I can not run an ethernet cable around the entire house from studio room to router downstairs. That's just the way this house was constructed and I don't live alone, if I did I would do it.

      @@BillMcFadden I have had 2 electricians look at it, the job is huge, the house is on concrete slab and it's a big job to add ethernet ports upstairs. Anyway, it's not needed, you don't need internet at all, I have spoken to others since this. Since I am using only one slave, I can connect the Mac to the PC directly via ethernet cable and their in built ports, they are sitting right next to one another, and both have at *least* gigabit ethernet or higher, and I can continue to access internet via wi-fi. No problem at all. I have seen a video of someone doing exactly how I want to and it works perfectly, so I think you may be over complicating things. No ethernet switch, no connection to main router required, nada.
