They wrote the song because one of them was getting divorced and the other just got stood up for New Year's Eve, so yes, two real situations actually haha!
Smooth as hell...what a soulful groove. I am a rock and roller, but I always loved Hall & Oates! Fantastic vocals, and killer band/musicians. Live from Daryl's House was always good.
HALL & OATES the very best of blue eyed soul. They wrote some absolute bangers!!!! Tunes!
I thoroughly enjoy your reactions. I really appreciate folks your age enjoying the music of my youth. Thanks so much!
This is another one of their songs that are pure genius. The lyrics are right on point.
"One less toothbrush hanging in the stand" gets me every time.
In 2014 Hall & Oats were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame….. they’re great, tons of songs that were in the billboard charts. Seriously talented vocals and song writing!
This song played on the radio several times per day. This live version is missing some of the musical features in the album version, but not bad at all. It was huge in the clubs as well. It's been played in my cars a few hundred times.
It was the song that put them into the national spotlight! A fantastic tune with an emotional impact!
This live arrangement of She's Gone is very different from the studio version (which should definitely be another reaction!). Daryl's singing was softer and more subdued on this one. The keys being prominent in this one replaced a very nice sax solo in the studio version.
More Hall and Oates, please! Like I mentioned in the other reaction:
The music videos for - I Can't Go For That, Private Eyes, You Make My Dreams, and Out of Touch.
Rich Girl and studio version of She's Gone.
Those are some of their biggest songs, but they have more really great songs too if you want to keep going after that!
Philly sound,lol😂
I saw the NYC premiere of this song at the Bottom Line in '74. Absolutely killer show, 180 seat venue...the best!
One of their most amazing songs! Love them. This was fun watching the live, never seen it. Now listen to the studio version too. You’re going to love it. Thx ☺️
I saw Hall and Oats perform this song live in concert at The Hollywood Bowl about 5 years ago. It was a magical night.
Simply the best
I have always love Hall & Oates but never heard this live version before..damn!!
JMBOY TV is dropping 3-pointers, nothing but net with the videos every week. It's another excellent song, with Hall Of Fame
commentary, as always. Thanks for the HALL & OATES video and all the hard work you put into bringing us all a good time.
But it's a piss poor version of the original that made it a hit, and how we first heard it. It's good to us because we know it well. It doesn't reflect at all the studio clarity.
Studio version is better.
The are the best blue eyed soul! The Righteous Brothers are a close second! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Now see, for my money, that should be the other way around. These guys are a close second to The Righteous Brothers in and out of the recording studio.
I've never heard this version. Spectacular! Thank you
Great song. As much as I love H & O, I have to agree the studio version is better, not that this isn’t good. Thanks for a great reaction. 👏👏👍
I've never seen this LIVE version. Nice. I still prefer the official audio though on this one. You should check it out on your own sometime. If you havent reacted to any "Live At Daryl's House" videos, you should (Daryl Hall from Hall and Oates, The "blond" guy)
"One On One"... "Maneater".... "Wait For Me".... "I Wanna Know You For A Long Time".... "Rich Girl".... "Open All Night".... "Family Man".... "It's A Laugh"... "I Can't Go For That".... I could write at least 20 more from these guys.
I will never tire of hearing this
Sounds like a synthesizer which made all those spacey sounds, used quite a bit back in the day.
Yes it was a an old analogue synthesiser, like a moog or something
YOU MUST do the studio long version. This live version does the song no justice!! ❤️
If you haven't yet, catch the studio version...it's sublime. Particularly the sax solo.
Icons 💯💯💯💯💯💯
thanks brother
The most successful duo in rock history
Sweet Philly Soul
My friend John Zov (you seen him) did a cover of this song, and he played every instrument in his apartment room and it is awesome. He even added his own harmonies on vocals. Amazing what you can do today with digital recordings.
The organ(synthesizer) part was replacing a sax solo on the studio recording.
A synthesizer (also spelled synthesiser) is an electronic musical keyboard instrument that generates audio signals. Synthesizers typically create sounds by generating waveforms through methods including subtractive synthesis, additive synthesis and frequency modulation synthesis. They can create a wide variety of sounds like in this song.
When music was real.
great song!!!! Sooo many to choose from.
Thank you for posting this! It's great to see an adorable young man enjoying Our Music! 🩷🩷🩷
I have seen dozens if not hundreds of copies of Abandoned Luncheonette in the record stores, maybe i'll buy one.
Their studio versions of their songs are best. I promise.
One of their best. I hope you will react to Rich Girl.
You know it don’t matter anyway. 😉
They have done so many great songs. You should check out their live version of Me and Mrs Jones. I never thought they could pull it off but they did it in spades. If you listen to the original version you'll understand.
I remember watching these, playing live on The Old Grey Whistle Test in the 70s.
Just fabulous 👍
Check out their LIVE Version of " Me and Mrs Jones " ! Awesome and so much soul !!!
I saw them on this tour in Glasgow Scotland, they were (and are) awesome. Please cover the War Babies album
I am so jealous !!!!!!
OGWT!! I grew UP on this music show, my bros used to wake me up ever so quietly, so we could creep downstairs and wait for it to start (no set start time or end time in those days!) and then turn the volume down when the music started - whispering Bob Harris was so low on the sound... Memories...
Great live performance
Greatest Selling Male Duo In Music History, you just did your 2nd song from them. Think about that while I just smile, again.
Definitely check out the studio version too. ❤️
Great reaction, you're awesome keep it up 😊
Their band was basically the house band for Saturday Night Live for many many many years. The lead guitar player was the lead T-bone was the bass player.
Lifetime invite to any black bbq jam
Excellent analysis.
You got it right with all those beautiful elements in She's Gone. It's a bit of heartbreaker and they didn't hold back. I do like to see John Oates do his thing.... the alien space music was early synthesizer, i guess. What a sound. If a favourite pops up, i'll join on patreon and lay it all out 'pon you
Right? Love the keyboard! Great reaction! Thanks✌️
blue eyed soul...great reaction!!!
Hall & Oates - Winged Bull
I think this live performance is more personal and spontaneous than the studio version. 👍
Great choice! I like the studio version better though. If you get a chance listen to that.
A great one!!! 😊They’re all great….😊
Nice but STUDIO version really out shines this one. Sure hope you get to give that a listen Keep up the good work and wonderful insight to our favorite music.
Check out Hall and Oats cover of Me and Mrs. Jones live 2003
Check out "Live at Daryl's House".
Performances with classic artists.
I love the 70's songs. There are so many, it hurts my brain.❤😅 You should listen to the studio recording now. Its really good.
❤😊
After this Ambrosia is the next group to listen too…
This is such a beautiful song and my favorite Hall and Oates song, I like the studio version better but this is good as well.
John Oats was in the lineup for KISS after Peter Frampton and Ace Frehley left the band. He left to go start Hall & Oats.
Kinda corny looking back now, but thank you for bringing me back ❤
"She's Gone"
Everybody's high on consolation
Everybody's trying to tell me what is right for me, yeah
My daddy tried to bore me with a sermon
But it's plain to see that they can't comfort me
Sorry, Charlie, for the imposition
I think I got it (got it), I got the strength to carry on, yeah
I need a drink and a quick decision
Now it's up to me, ooh, what will be
She's gone, she's gone
Oh I, oh I
I better learn how to face it
She's gone, she's gone
Oh I, oh I
I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's gone, and she's gone
Oh why, what went wrong?
Get up in the morning, look in the mirror
One less toothbrush hanging in the stand, yeah
My face ain't looking any younger
Now I can see love's taken a toll on me
She's gone, she's gone
Oh I, oh I
I better learn how to face it
She's gone, and she's gone
Oh I, oh I
I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's gone, and she's gone
Oh why, what went wrong?
Think I'll spend eternity in the city
Let the carbon and monoxide choke my thoughts away, yeah
And pretty bodies help dissolve the memories
They can never be what she was (was) to (to) me
And she's gone, and she's gone
Oh I, oh I
I better learn how to face it
She's gone, and she's gone
Oh I, oh I
I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's gone, and she's gone
Oh why, what went wrong?
She's gone
Oh I, I better learn how to face it
She's gone, she's gone
I can't believe that she's gone
Oh I, I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's gone
Oh I, I better learn how to face it
She's gone, she's gone
I can't believe that she's gone
Oh I, I'd pay the devil to replace her
She's gone (she's gone)
She's gone (she's gone)
She's gone (she's gone)
She's gone (she's gone)
She's gone (she's gone)
She's gone (she's gone)
She's gone (she's gone)
listen to the studio version just for fun :) it is even better in some ways..
jmboy tv dude you have to listen to hall & oates offical music video song - I can't go for that . Smooth groove jam song . thanks be safe peace. johnnyboy
Keyboard sounds like an old school moog with a touch of glockenspiel effect ... But I'm not sure.
❤
YOUR imagination, you're imagination, that's the song Daryl Holland John boy. I don't die
Zion, do your imagination, they do that song at Daryl's house. You doing, it was someone looking sexy baby and I do it good. It's at darrell's house you're imagination with some sexy girl that sounds good yeah
This song was first sung by a black group of guys in the 60’s, can’t remember their name, but Hall & Oats did not write this song, they mostly sang remakes & put their own touch on them. I’ve never heard them sing this before, they did a nice job, but I like the original singers the best. Good job JM Boy!👍👏👏👏💜
Not true. They most certainly did write it.
Whoa! This ain’t it! You’ve got to go to studio version.
