Good save for her Friend..i am glad she found you for honest work at a reasonable price
She was very happy with the repairs 👍
@@themechanic6117 Good job my Friend. ✌🕶🔧
The dealer would have ripped her the heck off!
It was definitely a high price
Great job. Dealerships are always on the take .
Only thing I'm going to a dealership for is warranty repairs or recalls lol
To be fair, you said she just wanted to go ahead and change both sensors anyway, so it wasn't YOU who shot the parts cannon - it was her.
So many variables when using scanners. But in the end the car is fixed and the customer is happy. And at a fair cost.
That's all that matters. Next time if I see something weird on a scanner I should probably try a different scanner first.
I've been explaining to women for years don't never walk up in a mechanics shop alone take a man with you even if he don't know nothing. They'll think twice before trying to steal your purse
Great advice
These dealerships see women coming from 20 miles away. Looking to take them to the bank. My female friend, ( Blonde hair blue eyes ) went to the dealership to get front and rear brakes, tune up and filters. On her 2018 Honda CRV. $3000 later, she still is hurting from it. Wouldn't listen to me. "I'll just go to the dealership." O well.
That's crazy! You can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped.
At least you're consistent. Meaning, you like recommending parts be replaced in pairs... Therefore in this case, the vehicle has 100k miles, it would have been sooner than later, when that second sensor would have gone out. Which in turn, nets the owner some more down time on their vehicle. So, this was a great reason to replace both, and out of the way. What did that guy in the infomercial say? "Set it and forget it." 👍
Thanks for the comment. That toyota has plenty of life left in her ! 👍
The best option was taking the car to you !! Good job jon as usual..
Definitely, she was very happy with the outcome and how much money she saved
I took my Jetta to a shop for new tires and their inspection said I needed new inner and outer tie rods (recently done by myself), new front struts and rear shocks (just replaced the front) and the rear shocks are good, both rear springs are broke though (it's a Jetta thing) and they never mentioned that. Tried to tell me it needed an oil change when it was changed about 2000kms ago.
I'm pretty sure my wife has no idea what engine her car has. She's pretty smart but she has no interest in cars or knowing anything about them, even her own.
It's crazy how shops try crap like that. Most times they're just programmed to say that a car needs certain things without checking the car , not knowing that someone recently did that job. A shop pulled that on one of my customers after I just did a job . The customer called me all upset thinking I didn't do the job she paid me to do when in reality the shop never bothered to check her car . I was getting "yelled" at for no reason.
Don't beat yourself too bad. These A/F sensors have such a tight window operating range (couple mA + -) that it would be hard to see any fluctuations without a scope. You made the right call.
Thank you, the car is fixed. On to the next one!
I found a lot of women don't know if they have a 4 cylinder or V6. I use a free online VIN decoder to help with this and have them send a pic of the VIN if the car is not in front of me. Great job as always Jon. You are way too hard on yourself.
The few times I've asked for people's Vins they act like I just asked for their social security number 😁🤣
what was the Toyota website that you got the parts? lmk. Awesome job John.
It was from Lagrange oem toyota parts
Ask how big the engine is in liters. it forces tbem to read the underhood sticker. better yet have them give you the v.i.n.
That's a pretty good idea. When I first asked her she seemed pretty confident so I didn't question it lol
Do you have a Toyota Tech stream scanner that the dealers use? Awesome job John.
No I don't, just my launch scanner
Did you consider just changing the downstream first to see if it was the only problem?
Oh I'm fairly certain the downstream was the only problem but the owner wanted both changed .
How hard were the struts to do on that car?
Not bad, pretty standard like most small cars
HOW MUCH DO YOU THINK I SHOULD BE CHARGED FOR A HUB BARING ON AN 200 HONDA ACCORD 6 CYLINDER?
My prices don't reflect what a shop charges. But I normally charge about $160 for labor for a press in bearing .
@@themechanic6117 THANK YOU I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE WHERE ARE YOU? I WISH I COULD TAKE MY CAR TO YOU
@@themechanic6117 UM ALSO GONNA NEED A CATALYTIC CONVERTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR FROM MY COUSINS COUSIN AND IT'S BEEN ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER JUST PUT A REBUILT TRANSMISSION ON IT SMH 😒
How much did the dealer want to do the struts, $1,000.00?
I don't remember the details but it was More than that..
