I f*cking cried at Iphigenea's bravery and Achilles' nobility to defend her to the death
How wonderful that such old stories can still elicit the same powerful reactions as from people back in the day
Agamemnon tried to defend her too but was betrayed by those closest to him, Odysseus and his own brother.
Even though she knew she was going to die, this woman showed no fear only bravery and courage
Mythology in school: 😀
Mythology in reality: 🌚
Disney: mythology? How can we make money with it?
@@rageraptor7127 Just add a couple of songs.
You should be good.
Well, there is another version of the story where Goddess Artemis saved the princess and made her one of her maids.
Trojan War is one of the biggest events in Greek mythology where Goddess of Discord Eris is the principal architect.
As far as I remember Artemis, Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Eris, and other gods and goddesses sided with the trojans. While Hera, Athena, and other gods and goddesses sided with the Greeks.
Hera and Artemis had confronted each other in this war, Hera wounded Artemis in this fight before Artemis fled to her father Zeus. Her mother Goddess of Motherhood Leto treated her wounds.
Athena and Ares had also confronted each other in this war, Athena handily defeated the God of War in combat.
(English is my fourth language so sorry for the grammar issues.)
Rule of thumb. When Hera and Athena team up, thry always win. Goddess of empires and the goddess of war
Your grammar is better than most native English speakers.
I was going to comment the same thing since Artemis is the goddess of young women, I was expecting her to appear and save the princess
When you come to Greece , there is this temple in Vravrona, a beautiful spot for Artemis, where Iphigenia was the priestess.
Play age of mythology.. everything is there.:)
That princess has got to be one of the bravest mortals in Greek mythology if not the bravest
????
Ifigenia wasn't dead. I heard Artemis had mercy of the girl and saved her making of her her great preist in a far land
that depend on the author, every myth has multiples versions. Even in the antiquitie.
I think it was Euripidis who made this theatrical version for Dionysus festivities, the myths were much older than his time.
@@THomAs.H.P.76 No, there's evidence of Iphigenia surviving in Hesiod and in fragments of the Epic Cycle but it's true that it's slightly different in each version. Menelaus was kind in Homer's version but demonized in the Athenian plays since Menelaus was a Spartan.
Ya right
There are many different versions
The best trojan series on CZcams. I was so dismayed to find a lack of content for it on CZcams that I almost started a channel for it myself. I don’t have the narrative voice that you offer though, and I’m grateful to have found this and for it to be ongoing. Thank you so much.
It’s so sad that Agamemnon has to sacrifice his daughter because he loves her so much
Mh. Like Thanos with Gamora?
it is sad, but still, we need the gods on our side and that my friend demands a payment...
@@chenlevy3773 bah
So true just like Thanos and Gamora
@@danielelunardi9812 absolutely true
Ok. Beautiful.
But can we please get the rest of the story too? A whole war happened and the story ended with the Greeks still not sailing for Troy 😭
The artwork, the animation, the narration is all great which is why I want it to continue on.
Agamemnon always rubbed me the wrong way everytime I read the Illiad. Also the gods were so cruel to force all this suffering for some entertainment
Agamemnon is one of the most interesting and complicated figures in epic history and the gods didn't cause all of that for suffering for entertainment but rather the biggest reason was they they didn't want to lose their demigod children or their favorites (like Zeus for Sarpedon, Thetis for Achilles, Athena for Diomedes and Odysseus, Apollo for Hector, Eos the Dawn for Memnon, Ares for Penthisilea, etc..)
Ifigenia was taken by Artemis in a cloud just as Kalhas was about to sacrifice her and put a stag in her place. Nonetheless, none of the Greeks saw that. Ifigenia became a priestess for the Goddess, and later found by her brother Orestis as written in the tragedy, Ifigenia en Tavris.
It's pretty common in mythology for the hero or heroine to not really die, like King Arthur, he's just sleeping and will return. They even use it in Star Wars, Yoda and Obi Wan become spirits or Merlin in Exalibur.
Agamemnon looks like he's wearing some dope sunglasses at 4:09.
just awsome. That whole saga was the best you made till now
awesome..so WELL done and narrated...many thanks to bringing this legendary sacrifice to Life. !!....
PLEASE MAKE SEASON 2!!!!!
This was amazing
Your trojan war saga is awesome. Keep up this work.
Thank you for making this podcast. I really appreciate your perspective (as I am a high school teacher who has taught this text to students).
This is really good! I’m looking forward to watch the next video!! Tbh, if this comic is for sale, I’d definitely buy it lol! It looks amazing!! ✨✨
I enjoyed this season! Hope for the next one to come soon.❤
Cant wait for this epic work .. what a masterpiece
I wouldn’t have expected something like this from Artemis considering she is one of the more reasonable of the Olympians.
She's usually pretty merciless to men but it was probably Calchas the priest that lied about it and in most versions, Artemis does save her.
Another amazing video this looks so awesome I love ancient Greece
Oh, I wonder how Aeneas will look like. Dudr is my lowkey fav dude from the Trojan War
I been waiting for the next episodes please comeback soon😊
keep it Up See U. im addicted to this series
If you don't mind subtitles or speak Greek there's a great movie from the late 70's called Iphigenia. Specifcally about this. About Agamemnon's torment at having to sacrifice his daughter.
Yeah I saw that, it was so much better than the 2004 which just wanted to rush from one fight scene to the next.
The production design, locations, costumes, casting and acting were outstanding. It really felt you'd stepped back into the bronze age. Having actual Greek actors helps too.
Upload more about Trojan war..i love it also upload about Aeneas adventures ❤️❤️
She was utterly brave, gave up her life so that others would not have to give up theirs.
I recommend watching the Greek movie Iphigenia (1977) is a faithful adaptation of the play! Its available on CZcams with English subs. the production is amazing and the performances spectacular (the famous greek actress Irini Pappas plays Clytemnistra). Definitely is for those who love the ancient greek tragedies.
Yes I saw it too, it was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign movie. The production design and costumes and locations give it a strong sense of being authentic bronze age, the army is much more a rag tag bunch. The film is extremely tragic, the Greeks really knew how to lay it on thick. The king is potrayed as much a hostage of his army as its leader.
“In order to take the stone, you must loose that which you love.”
Found out recently about this channel and loved it. Even more, because Avlida and its lovely mythology is my home town. The storyline is well presented. The only thing i would change is the pronunciation of Avlida. The one mentioned here, as Aulis=i-lish is wrong. Aulis in greek sounds as A-vlis. Aulis=Avlis=Avlida (modern name). Apart from that, all great!!!
No wonder why Clytemnestra ended up killing him.
Oh my this series is just breathtakingly epic❤
Cant wait for the fight between Achilles and Hector(although l always feel a great sadness by the result of it😖)
Ifigenia didn't die, goddess Artemis covered her with a cloud and put a deer on her place, as a sign of her accepting the sacrifice. The cloud took the young maiden to the land of Tauris where Ifigenia became the arch priestess of Artemis in order to thank her for allowing her to live. The tradition of Tauris was to sacrifice every foreigner who would dare to step a foot on their land as a gift to goddess Artemis.
The king of Tauris wanted to make Ifigenia his wife, but she would be making various excuses in order to avoid him. When she was about to succumb to the king's pleas as she had almost run out of excuses and as she was performing a cleansing ritual by the sea in order to buy some more time to herself, she noticed of a ship that had wrecked nearby.
Using her priestess identity, she went off to get to know of the whereabouts of the people who were on that wrecked ship. Later on, she met with their leader, who ended up being her little brother Orestes, who was still a little boy by the time Ifigenia was sacrificed.
Together they made an escape plan that was successful, only to return to Mycenae and discover that their father Agamemnon had been murdered by their mother, Clytemnestra and her lover and Agamemnon's cousin, Aegisthus. Orestes killed Clytemnestra in order to avenge their father and exiled himself until years later, when he killed his half brother Aletes and claimed the throne of Mycenae. Meanwhile Ifigenia remained a high priestess of goddess Artemis until her peaceful death of old age.
Also the land of Tauris was the Crimea peninsula
Imagine if they delayed the savrifice a little bit more, like give it time to think again and other options then she would have been alive and that oracle would've been dead 😅
Both Paris and Helen ended up in Dante's Inferno, punished in the 2nd Circle of Lust.
Masterpiece.
Achilles is so noble yo. Iphigenia juz gotta take one ☝️ for the team yo!
Great video.
Still here waiting for the next upload for this series
Liked it cant wait for the next episode although this was the best episode of all
And where is the next episode if I may ask?
I love this series and I just binge watched it. I’m sad that I have to wait for the next episode 😭😭😭
Ikr.. at this point I wish I'd discovered it a lot later so i could properly binge watch all seasons😓
I have seen heard read about trojan war like hundred of times still it facinates me
And the father of the year award goes to....
when is the next season coming? I can't wait anymore.
You know, we would think that Agamemnon would take this as a sign to not invade Troy. Because, Agamemnon has literally no stake in this, only Menelaus wants to sack Troy.
yeah but he was under oath, he has no choice. It would have been a incredible dishonor to refuse, something a king can't afford.
@@efaristi9737 I know, but still, Agy is still a parent, and nothing should be worth doing if a parent has to sacrifice their own kid.
@@smartguy458 different time, different morality. Menelas himself wasn't too concerned about dragging everyone in a war just to retrieve his wife that leave him willingly. The ancient greeks... in fact any civilisation of antiquitie thought of war as something normal and glorious to do, they have a different perception of it than us.
love the soundtrack
Season 2 please!
It is just wrong that this marvelous series has not been viralized yet by the yt algorithm.
Nice, but when is the next story taking place? It’s been three weeks now and not a single video about the Greeks’ arrival on the shores of Troas!
Can you do an episode about the Aesir-Vanir war?
When will the next season come ?
Please upload the next one ❤️🥺🥺🥺
Can't wait for Season 2
4:11 agamemnon looks cool 😎
Odysseus turning out to be like Hans Landa from Inglorious Basterds. For someone that didn't want to be involved in the war, he's a shrewd detective and has been deceiving alot of innocent people along the way.
Yep
According to Goethe: Aphrodite had mercy and Iphigenia ended up a priest on a small island, Tauris, and was pressured to marry the island's king, who was in love with her. She declined often, claiming that she couldn't let go her responsibility. But later she was saved by her brother, who came to her due to a prophacy and brought back to her home.
Yo! Wheres the next part? Been 2 months now. Upload it please 😭😭😭
Bravo
Can u please make a one full video like 1-2h longe one when all the episodes are done
If Kratos from Gow was here he'd sacrifice Artemis instead
I love Artemis, that would be a pity
The 1977 film is a must watch for anyone interested in this story.
Won’t there be any other episodes on trojan war??
4:10, the birth of sunglasses
More I need more
First off this is great but small thing Agamemnon wouldn’t have written a letter to anyone most likely. As the Mycenaeans used Linear B to write and it was really only used by scribes to keep track of like trade and taxes boring sort of stuff. Unfortunately they just didn’t using writing in the same way we do. Even homer writes that a message to have a man killed was only as complicated as a few mark scratched into “tokens” which I always took to mean like little clay or wooden tiles, this as close as you get to a letter in the day of Agamemnon.
That's partly true. But the Mycenaens used Linear B for administrative things. But they might've used other languages like Hittite and Luwian for letter writing. And in Euripides' play, Iphigenia at Aulis. He sends a "letter" (a clay tablet).
Please bring the next season
I understand that she agree to be sacrifice and stuff but did Agamemnon have to be the one to end her?
That seemed to cruel.
He's only the one to do it in rare few versions. It's usually the priest Calchas who does it in the source material.
By the end of season 2 you are going to hit 2M subs.
Can anyone find the soundtrack playing in the background when she was being sacrificed?
This is a nice little game the gods have going on...we're just their entertainment.
Do you think the gods still using us mortals here on earth?
@@inmagiasiderum5612 Probably not as ferociously. 😂😂
@@keshikakiran7799 well that's interesting 😅
@@inmagiasiderum5612 no seriously, you can't sacrifice your daughters these days. The police will sacrifice you. 😂✋🏼
@@keshikakiran7799 no lol, that is not what I mean haha. What I meant is that, it's interesting that these gods or deities are still manipulating our fate and destiny here on earth as we are just mere mortals...

When does the next season come out??
When will season2 come out?

Who sent the messenger to prevent sending the daughter to the camp is it agamemnon
