    I was recently looking at buying one of these to replace my Dedolight DLED 7 Bi-Colour (thinking the Forza was heaps brighter)... so was comparing the brightness photometrics again. Because the Forza with the fresnel is 45 degrees at full flood compared to 60 degrees of the Dedo, you would have to move the Forza 60B back to 4.18 metres distance to achieve the same area of coverage as the Dedo at 3 metres. When you do that, the Forza 60B is about 360 Lux (at 5600k) compared to the Dedo at about 290 Lux (at 5600k). Given the Dedo optics are better (and I already have a bunch of accessories) I decided to just stick with the Dedo.
    This sort of comparison wouldn't be possible without your testing results Andrew, so thanks very much again for your great work. Just thought it was important to mention the brightness comparisons at a matching area of coverage / beam angle.

    Just received this light today. All my lights are daylight balanced and was looking for a cheaper bi colour one and this fitted the profile I was looking for, not too expensive, small, lightweight, good light etc and must admit it's very very good! Love the "this isn't crap" too the point!!

  • @pedrotizonaudiovisual2106

    I wish you would review the "Nanlite Forza 300B"!
    You could compare it with the "Nanlite Forza 300" daylight model, with its main competitor, the "Aputure 300X", or with a power equivalent conventional lighting fixture : Maybe a 575W HMI Fresnel or a 2Kw Tungsten Fresnel.
    I love your reviews, they are the best. Thank you for your work!

    Very informative video, i was thinking about purchasing one, but then i found out it outputs a lot less than original forza 60, so its probably better to buy the original one with CTO gels. ( And also original forza 60 is cheaper :) )
    Keep up the good work!

    • @jeffb8824
      @jeffb8824 Před 3 lety

      Thanks for mentioning the difference in output between the Nanlite daylight and bicolor. I agree it's better to use the original with a gel.
      How do you gel your light? I just attach it to the reflector with gaff tape! Not very professional and it flaps in the wind!
      Looking for a better way!
      Thanks!

    • @cagf2013
      @cagf2013 Před 3 lety +1

      Depending on how strong the gel is you might actually lose more brightness compared to the 60B - Gelling a daylight LED to tungsten for example can lose a lot of light and sometimes the colour quality is also reduced. Personally I think bi-colour is better

    Thanks Andrew. Obviously Covid19 has and will put back a lot of firmware upgrades for all manufactures but apparently the China written Phone App is going to be superseded by Nantlites USA phone app at some point. Using a separate Wifi box is very 'old school' and vs the Aputure's phone app it makes Nanlite seem almost amateur in comparison. If I'd say anything to Nanlite, it would be start investing in R'n'D in light cooling technology. COB lights are just getting more and more powerful (Aputure 600 soon!!!!) but the technology behind the cooling implementation especially with Nanlite just seems like an afterthought. A noisy light on set is even worse than a noisy DOP!!!!!

    Great review, again :) I have 60D with Bowens adapter for the modifiers. Worth to know, that putting the fresnel for Forza 300/500 with adapter to Forza 60, doenst gives perfect results...Its a lot of "onion" light circles. If you plan to use F60 with fresnel, best solution is to buy to proper one, designed for F60...

    I'd be all over the Forza series, from 60 to 500, if these fans weren't an issue. In the custom-built PC space you can get quieter fans for most things by spending 20-40 bucks. I really wish light manufacturers spent a little bit extra to sort these things out...

    • @DaCarnival
      @DaCarnival Před 3 lety

      I especially want them over Aputure products, because the Nanlite daylight kelvins are much bluer, and I live up by the Arctic Circle in Iceland, where daylight is closer to 6000-6500. The 5300-5400 on the C300m2 needs gelling up here to match.

    Thanks for this review! I bought a Forza 60B with the Fresnel (which is not crap!) and loved the versatility and even loved the light at 30 percent with no fan when close to mics. I'm wondering if you have thoughts on the 300B? And whether your thoughts have changed to the Forza 500 based on the 600 d Pro and the amazing Fresnel attachment. And also just generally if you prefer a 5600 k LED and the advantage of brightness over the bicolour offerings. Things have changed so much so fast, I feel now is a decent time to buy rather than keep renting. So many questions... But amazing reviews! Thank you!

    Very confused - I just got the F11 fresnel for my Forza 60D and the barn doors create very visible multi-shadows while this doesn't seem to be the case in your video - any idea what might be going on there?

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  Před 3 lety +1

      I'm not sure. It could be a distance thing, most fresnels will project the lens pattern if you are just the right distance from a wall, hardly ever happens.

      Hi. Really love your reviews since I am a little light lover myself. I actually own a forza 60 and the fernel attachment. But when I tested the bar doors I was surprised that I couldn't make a clean slash as you demonstrated. Slash stays a bit round and the light that hit the smaller barndoors give off multiple shades. But maybe this works differently on the forza 60b which I now decide on to purchase

      I'm buying 6 of these. To be honest I'm getting them as a filler light, with the intention to sell them should something better come along in this size that is bi-colour.
      I think the price point enables me to do this.
      I found when I dialled in 5300 it was closer to 5600 and not as green. It was definitely under a 1/8th correction, but problem is some lights are slightly pink, so it could make this look more wrong than it is when put in the mix.
