Your laptop got a problem to do such a so lound fan noise...i have one, with aswell RTX 2080 and its ultra quiet
You do need BOTH adapters in order to run graphic fully !

Do you know if there will be in the future a GPU higher than the RTX-2080 for this laptop?
Does anyone know how it performs under prolonged full cpu and gpu load? Does it throttle down? I'm not interested in games but considering one of these for numerical computation.

Hello there..... can you do complete review on alienware m15 and m17 2019 model (legend design)
First of all, to get the most out of the system you have to have both power adapters plugged in. If you run off of just one then the clock speed of the GPU will be cut in half, even using the 330w. Frank Azor has said that they will optimize it better so that you don't take as big of a hit using just the 330w adapter. Right now it is gimped the same as just running off the 180W power supply.
for normal gaming do you need both bricks?
So I'm confused. Is the graphic card a RTX2080 or RTX2080 MAX Q?

Id guess extreme power limit throttling on the CPU and possiblity also GPU. Might drain the battery as well

Yes next gen when nvidia releases 7nm is really when this laptop will shine. Plus a 7nm CPU cuz I dunno about cooling a full 9900k in a laptop lol.

I’ve had one with the 9900k and 2080rtx for about three weeks now. Thing is an absolute beast. Never been a massive fan of ailenware/dell but took the plunge and, so far, i’m happy i did!
Don’t really plan on upgrading it tbh. I normally change laptops every 3-4 years. Obviously if it’s viable and worth it to upgrade i might. But doubt it.

Loving Gordon's G-Shock watch! Huge Casio fan here! Back to the 51m; I've wanted one since all of the CES coverage! I really dig the modularity and the extended life it gives it. Visually it's different and I love the look. It would absolutely wipe the floor with my i5-powered Acer Nitro 5!

It's a FLIR Pro. Which goes in the USB-C port. They no longer make a case. The image was taken earlier.
Noise cancelling 🎧 included?
If you adjust the power setting in the Alienware software it runs really cool. the stock settings aren't the greatest.

In three years, you'd likely put in a 3060.
It looks nice but I've had issues with Alienware and don't get me started on Dell.
Would you guys recommend this for school work/movies/games(sometimes), would it be worth it? Mainly function is school work and sometimes i play games.

Why do you need to take it apart before you actually unbox it ?
Bummed out there is no NVlink connection, and that the hdmi port is too far away from a USB port. It looks like I'd need an extension cable in order to plug in my WMR headset which is annoying but to others a minor gripe.
Am worried though if new gen VR do need NVlink to work. Otherwise great notebook.
i have no problems with my Samsung Odyssey WMR headset plugging into my Area 51m....
@@jontoad Really? The cable split on my Lenovo into HDMI / USB only looks to measure 15cm which seems a far bigger distance looking at the Area ports in images.

Why you need NVlink, you need this for VR content, Thunderbolt 3 USB...

I also got myself the Area51m in maxed out but I got this one for long video editing as I am a videographer. Think I wouldn't but this one for gaming only at this price. But a nice side-effect that I can game anything with it after my work :D

Nice vid, but I want to point out that at 5:50 you mentioned you DONT need to use both power adapters, just one or the other. Actually, you need to use BOTH when gaming. However, when you're doing light-weight stuff, you can get away using one or the other.
What happens if you only use one when you're gaming? Do the components just run at a lower clock rate?
@@sasca854 I believe amongst other things, your battery is also drained in the process .... So, if you game long enough, you could shut down your laptop due to the battery dying.

It just nerfs clocks when on either the 330 or 180 actually it turns out.

I'm assuming lack of any of the main laptop display manufacturers making any gaming level 17 inch 1440p or 4K displays in volume. Much less 144hrz ones.

is that normal for it to be at 100c on the processor? I have a Razer Blade 15 RTX2060 and its hovering around 88-90c when gaming. I am considering this Area 51m for better airflow/temps

Honestly, you have to ask yourself if it wouldn't be easier to do a sff build and lug that around with a monitor and kb&m.
It wouldn't be. Sure, for a LAN party once in a while, it's not bad, but you are now juggling monitor+KBM. With this, you shut the lid, and throw it into one giant backpack and you're out the door. If you had a nice pelican-case setup a SFF it wouldn't be too horrible but it's the juggling the monitor that's the issue.

Why they don t make that laptop separate? If they just make motherboard apart and sell a screen and a keyboard, when consumers get all parts they can make it one part or just can carry it as thin and light as possiable.
