I have been wearing full time Vibram five finger shoes and have almost fully corrected dorsal bunions. Bad enough to cause significant plantar faciitis but no lateral bunions. I am very happy I never saw a doctor for this condition. I am an eye doctor.
Glad you have a great result, a very small % of people do ever need anything invasive!
Thank you so much
How long did you where them for please?
Dang! I never thought of consulting an eye doctor for my bunion, but I'll call my optometrist first thing tomorrow!
Can you wear normal shoes like before ?
Not exactly wht I hoped to hear but the truth helps me make a better decision
Thank you. Your video gave me a little hope.
Thanks for the advice. Glad it was captioned, as audio was very low.
We will improve for next time, thanks!
Thanks!
My podiatrist gave me those gel things that ease the pain slightly. I asked him about surgery and he said that they break the bone & reset it! It sounds painfully but I cannot walk much, and gaining weight because I cannot exercise on my feet. Iâm in CA
I have heard multiple times that many people are in worse pain after bunion surgery than they ever were before, and the pain lasts the rest of their lives.
True for my case, it comes and goes according to you your activity
That's the most honest and sensible information I have ever heard about bunions. Thank you. Wish you practiced in thevU.K. Any suggestions where I can get a great surgeon please. Tgank you â€
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for the great response!
I am in Michigan, US. I would be able to help you in Michigan but not in UK.
If possible, we would appreciate a quick and easy rating from you, and a good rating makes a BIG difference for us!

Physical therapy for bunion in New Zealand I have reversed bunion
can you post a before and after?
Please share
Please let us know what you did
I really need a treatment

I had a bunion for like for like 3 years, I use to wear tight shoes and that on me, Also I have the bunion on my big left toe only any suggestions for how to get rid of it also I have pain when I wear shoes the are my sizes when I run I could see my big toe sticking out.
I like running and cycling and I have a bunion on my left foot since wearing half a size smaller slippers and forcing my feet into them while wearing narrower socks. Iâm not wearing any socks at the moment, walking barefoot at home on laminated and carpeted floors. But winter will be here soon so I canât walk barefoot at home all the time but I have just bought some cotton toe socks. I have flat feet too, and I use to wear ASICS GT 2000 series mens which had mid arch support but recently have changed to ASICS GEL excite 7 which feel like they have less mid arch support. I have a dilemma? Either purchase Altra running shoes with zero drop, wide toe box and no mid arch support for my flat feet, wearing on occasions correct toes spacers while at home and walking and running. Doing intermittent strengthening foot exercises in between to strengthen naturally my arch or just buy another pair of running shoes, like ASICS GT 2000 series with mid arch support which will help my Flat feet but never help strengthen my arch so I donât rely on mid arch support like a crutch. The problem is I donât wanna make my bunion worst but I want strong feet which may help my bunion.
Stop running for a year and correct how you put pressure on your foot
BLAME THE SHOE DESIGNERS
Please comment on the role of weight gain and the formation of a bunion. With the dramatic rise in obesity in the US I bet there is a large increase in bunions. Iâm thinking that the extra weight contributes directly to the flattening of the foot which sets the stage for bunion reversal.
And do you think weight loss will inversely help dramatically toward bunion reversal? (For those in pain, now that provides great motivation to get serious about pushing the plate away!)
Wow I think that's why I formed them. I'm in the process of losing weight and was wondering how I formed bunions when I don't wear heels
Weight has zero to do with it
Itâs a genetic condition
...So other than surgery there is no way to fix it?
You have to really work on it you have to release the adductor and try to engage the abductor. More affective if you do trigger point work on the adductor and then put your finger on the outside and try to get it to press out, using abduction.
Absolutely that abductor is definitely getting overworked. The key is to get pressure off of it and let it straighten the toe.
Can you do minimally invasive bunionette surgery?
Absolutely, Studies are actually excellent for not having to use plates or screws in most cases.
If nothing else but surgery really works, why are there so many before and after photos posted by PhD physical therapists and others that demonstrate otherwise? They are using exercise, taping, etc, and appear to be successful. Which is it?
Says who? Do you still trust the medical industry? Especially after the last two years of them trying to instill fear into everyone. Iâm not saying some surgeries arenât necessary , that would be foolish, but itâs only necessary in extreme cases for the most part (broken bone, deep wound, removing a tumor or object)
Surgeons will not tell you the truth and want you to opt for surgery. Surgery should be a last option for most people. This guy didn't even mention gait mechanics or strengthening feet once!
It seems the only people trying to convince everyone there is no cure are 'doctors' they are getting pretty useless better off listening to random people who look for solutions themselves or seeking your own!
When I went to a sports med doctor he said the bunion surgery corrects but fused the big toe, taking away your ability to run. That made me sad
He recommended that I keep on going as long as my bunion doesn't crowd my other toes and if a don't have pain while walking.
anyone else heard this?
Never heard of this
I just scrape my bunion with a porcelain spoon (Chinese massage) for a week. Painful! But it was gone completely after that đ
Whoa! Please elaborate! Or any helpful links please :)

Please how? Im desperate I NEED TO KNOW PLEASE
At the end is not a âreasonableâ shoe. They are not foot shaped, they are pointed at the end. Feet are naturally widest at the toes, but no modern shoes have this shape. You should look out for foot shaped shoes/barefoot shoes/minimalist shoes.
Iâm 26 years old, and have a painful bump on the side of my big toe. It doesnât hurt when I walk around, just when Iâm laying down. My toe doesnât look like itâs pointing anywhere but straight, so Iâm not sure if itâs a bunion. Iâm more than sure this is caused by me wearing tight shoes almost all my life, especially since I have wide feet and almost never wore wide shoes. I recently started wearing a 1/2 size up in wide and it feels so much better. My worry is that if I donât get this bump surgically corrected will it only get worse even though I no longer wear tight shoes? If I continue to wear the right shoe, will the pain eventually just stop or will it continue to just get worse and worse as I age. Iâm very concern bc I can see my dreams of military service fading in the distance due to something like this. Im even scared to go my doctor because than it will be on my medical record which will show up when I try to enlist. Any advice or insight will greatly be appreciated.
Go see a podiatrist before it starts hurting. Iâm 51 & the pain is unbearable sometimes.
Go get it looked at I let my go and it just got worse and more painful. I am now seeing doctor for it finally
Health is more important than militar career
No
Iâm only 23 years old and I have this from wearing narrow shoes or it may be from my planter fasciitis
Raymond, thanks for the great response!
Yes, narrow shoes used over many years, narrow particularly in toes area may significantly contribute to bunions problem.

Man the first picture on the right, thatâs a huge one. That seems really uncomfortable and makes me question how they find shoes. 0:02
They donât
All I can wear is Birkenstock sandals
I wear Asics 2000GT too but they hurt jn 4 hrs if Iâm on my feet
Like my ties start stoning pains becuz my big toe is pushing over the other tors
Buy some barefoot shoes before it gets worse
Can being over weight cause them.

Wearing narrow shoes and heels is the primary culprit.
