In todays Valheim tips and tricks video guide I will show you how to get Padded armor, the best armor in Valheim. To craft padded armor you will need iron and linen which is made by processing flax. I will show you how to get muddy scrap iron to make Iron ingots in the swamp biome in Valheim and I will show you where to find flax in the planes biome in Valheim. Flax can be farmed in cultivated land to get unlimited flax. I will show you how to make a cultivator and farm in Valheim. You can then create an Artisan table which requers wood and two dragon tears. You need to obtain dragon tears by defeating the 4th boss Moder the dragon in the mountains biome. After you have crafted an Artisan table you can make a spinning wheel (crafted with fine wood, iron nails and leather scraps) to turn flax into linen. Iron and linen can be used to craft padded armor in Valheim at a forge. Padded armor is the best armor in the game currently with a total armor value of 96 once fully upgraded to level 4. Padded armor is very easy to upgrade since you only need iron ingots its also better than the wolf armor which requires over double the silver ingots to upgrade. You can also use linen thread to create blackmetal weapons. Currently the game has no black metal armor.
Valheim is a new RPG survival game set in a huge open world that can be played solo or co-op by 1-10 players and optional PVP mode with action combat. You could use the atgeir’s spin attack to harvest plains crops like a scythe. One of many small satisfying things to do in Valheim.

stagbreaker / sledge is more efficient than atgeir - but anything is better than by hand
Worth a mention for those people I see posting in reddit... iron scrap can be found OUTSIDE the crypts as well. You'll need to use the wishbone to find it much like finding silver. Death 'squito's won't give a crap about the trench FYI. That said, whether you build a trench, wall, both, or whatever excites you placing protected work benches around the edges will prevent furlings and squito's from spawning inside or near your fields/farm. Placing them around the outside walls/trench also forces them to spawn far enough away from your farm to keep them from aggroing the farm. Handy as otherwise nearby spawns are likely to be close enough to come investigate sounds of you building/planting. I had fits keeping them from my fields until I figured this out. If you build a large farm just be sure you place enough benches to cover any open areas inside your base (easily checked when building a bench as it shows it's coverage ring before placement).
tbh, I just wish there was a more efficient way to get chain.
@@_v_m_ It only happened once, but a greydwarf shaman obliterated my farm with all the carrots/turnips in it by the time I noticed it's there. Only once, yes, but I got so freaking angry for having to start production from scratch, that I now build my farms with a ditch AND an earthen wall around them (raise ground pretty high, aim at edge with hoe in desired direction, raise again, repeat). Not a quick thing, but it is completely safe against everything that cant fly. Overkill, yes, i know it is. But. Never. Again. Will. I. Loose. All. My. Seeds :-)
Tip for gathering iron: Take longship and the mats to make a portal, leave a portal at your base unconnected and named whatever you want. Go explore your world map, drop down your portal twin when you need to repair or drop off loot at base. My brother and I did this for farming iron. We would put the workbench behind the crypts, this allows you to climb up and jump on top of the crypt and put the portal on the roof where it's safe and out of the way from enemies. We were able to dump all loot that could go through portals at home and put only the scrap iron on the longship. 30 (stack of iron) × 18 (slots on longship) = 540 iron. It was so satisfying to bring that haul home.
Also the bronze pickaxe is worth upgrading to max level (4) because the durability allows you to clear a crypt with a back up antler pickaxe and a buddy doing the same, sometimes we would finish a crypt without finishing our bronze pickaxe durability. Currently I run a level 4 bronze pickaxe with a level 3 iron pickaxe. I treat the bronze pickaxe as my general purpose one and the iron for silver and obsidian exclusively. The less often you repair, the more time you save, the more you get done.
or you could create another world and create a chest. put all the scrap in the new chest. go back to your main world - and teleport to ur base - logout and get your scrap back - login again and you have all your scrap with u at your base

You can clear out a camp and just expand the already farm . Nothing spawns in camp .

The recipe might change with time - the game is early access after all.
Its true it really should be blackmetal gear - however there is some harder to obtain weapons and items - like the sea serpent shield
Bruh, I was thinking I could easily make this armor because we have a ton of iron and found a fuling village. But we first need to kill the fourth boss while we haven't killed the third one. Rip, and I thought we could go to the third boss with padded armor...
Thanks for these amazing guides. It really helps. I sadly am still in the black forest biom since I play alone most of the time so my progress is slow but these guides help a bunch.
Your progress is just as fast as the way you play it - this is no race. Valheim is great for letting people play it as fast as they want.
Also, there is the Lox cape which will also give you resistance vs frost!!
I found that if you activate your Wishbone in the Swamps, it will "ping" the location of "muddy scrap piles" you can mine for iron without going into the crypts.

I feel like so much of this is extra. I spent 10 minutes making a fenced in farm and I already have more flax than I would ever need and never had anything attack it.
Quick tip, if you build your flax farm near sea beach, no npc will come close anyway, unless you agro kite them into your field, bonus is if you have a bonfire near the farm, enemies will not come near it,no need for the trench
96? wear a cloak man, get that flat 100! I prefer the lox cloak so I can still go into the mountains without potions

@@edypunk yeah, I wrote that in the first few seconds of watching it when he claimed 96 :p most of the cloaks do the same armor when upgraded, only 2 provide the warmth buff. tbh, I had a reason I liked the lox one more than the wolf one but I can't remember. easier mats or something. but man, was I surprised at how simple the mats were for padded. I wonder if they meant for it to be dark metal instead of iron?
Not only that, you don't get the cold debuff at night as well. There is no point in wearing other cloaks than Lox and Wolf IMHO
It's honestly less tedious to just find a Plains island or peninsula. So long as all land is within the radius of a workbench, no mobs should ever spawn (not even during raid events). It's easier, cheaper and less time-consuming than building a fortress in the middle of a vast open Plains biome.
Bro just gather some stone, use a hoe to raise the ground in 1 place to a high level, then use the same ability at its edge on your raised piece of land to quickly create a ground wall that encircles your farm, so you dont have to build a trench or stone wall, and you cab either mine a single hole in the earthen wall and place a door, or just make a stairway that leads up the top of the wall, then back down down.
there´s no way someone wants to farm flax but didn´t explore enough to know how to get and produce copper, lol

ESO must be so happy he's playin and earning in this game which technically has the same gameplay and type of content as Skyrim, which is not releasing anytime soon.

While it does use less iron than the wolf armor. Problem is Iron is so much harder to acquire than silver. At least on our server playthough. Just a few hours we gathered well over 500 silver ore between 2 people. While getting iron is hit or miss and even on hits it isn't that lucrative
The Lox cape has resistance against frost too
For the wall instead of using stone just use the hoe trick to make a big natural stone wall. Hell you don't even have to make a trench, you could just raise a whole platform like this.

You don’t need these strong farm defenses btw.
The only thing you need for and indestructible farm is a field of strategically placed campfire to prevent spawning in a large enough plains area. I like to section off a corner of the coast but you can do it anywhere. Just prevent spawning in an area big enough that they wont aggro you while you are sowing and reaping.
Surround the farm with them outdoor fence things that cost 1 wood. The game has special AI for varmints so you gotta do this or your crops will get eaten by varmints.
Next, this is a remote farm so after your plants are sown and the area secured, just portal out away from your remote farm, and your plants are safe.
Come back in 4 days and you can reap and sow in peace. Repeat.
No elaborate defense necessary

Pro tip: place down work benches in the corners and sides of your base to reduce the amount of random spawns happening near by. Mobs don't spawn near work benches.

I'll just take your word for it .. I've got a 100+ army of lox and at least 300 2star wolves patrolling the outskirts of our huge village .. we don't worry about anything getting in, and the wolves kill their own food.
@@OmegaTheMyth oh and if you get burnt out on valheim waiting for updates.. get Craftopia.. its $25 and developers are the same that made Zelda Breath of the Wild... its like valheim in so many ways... crafting, farming, discovering, and boss fights. You even capture animals in pokeball(esk) balls and put them into battle or giant hamster wheels where they generate batteries

The lox fur cape also gives resistance to frost does it not? Which has higher durability then the Wolf fur cape so I gues that is part of the plains gear.
Lox cape does have frost resistance but has lower durability than Wolf cape unfortunately
@@NikosTsoumas are you certain? Because I read differently. Since lox are in the plain and wolves are in the mountain biome, I would think that the durability on lox is higher

@@Jonas666Braem there’s a Linen cape available also, it has no resistance but better durability overall at 1700 at lvl 4 (however the Wolf is the best overall since it has the second best durability and provides frost resistance)
Do you recommend skipping the wolf armor, and just going straight for padded?
Aside from the cape which you need for the frost resistance i'd use the silver on weapons that do additional damge to undead.

Wolf armor will help you a lot in plains biome and for a long run until u have enough material to craft Padded Armor.

This base is not invincible: Deathsquito can fly over and attack, and Fuling Spearthrowers can damage walls from range.

I don't know about you, but deathsquitoes are my biggest issue with all of these plans, I have no way in my current (42 armor gear) way of getting into the plains without dying, corpse running for a few hours, give up, rage quit...
i landed on a 10x10 island and was attacked by 2 deathsquito and 2 fuling, that respawn every 5 min etc... but near by on more plains, i found a 500x1000 ft area where nothing spawns .. ever.. my future farm.. no hideous trench needed. good luck out there 👍

Downscale your resolution, it will probably look like crap but at least it will become playable.
Building a large base will drastically lower your FPS so only build the bare minimum

yeah stay away from more than 4 people playing, dont build a large multi building area, spread out... rare chance your cpu is bottle necking your gpu.. but you probably jus gonna have to upgrade the works, and the next 2 years are a shit time to do that with the chip shortage. i just overpaid for a prebuilt pc to get the gtx 3070.. bunch of trash components that cant be upgraded from. sigh. i figured its only going to get worse in the coming year. uncertain times ahead, printing cash like mad... not good.. my next purchase is focusing on getting a garden going for food incase these idiots torpedo the economy.. wtf lol

Your farm defence is overkill. Just use wood fence post walls and build right next to a Meadows biome.

Uhm Deathmasquitoes can fly in and sing your ass. I've experienced this on several occasions. I never run in the plains with less than 125 health and a shield out.
they literally have 17 health, just bring a bow and shoot them before they get to you
