  • In this video I show my settings for my transmit audio on my Yaesu radios.
You can try my settings but they probably won't be perfect for you but the video should help you!

My first experience on HF SSB after getting my General in May was on my G90. Not much in the way of audio processing options on that rig. Now with my FT-710, which is a WHOLE lot more radio, I am searching for wisdom about the wonderful world of audio processing. Thank God for people like you, the YT Elmer's of the world that make these awesome teaching videos; just like you were sitting next to me and showing me the ropes. Thank you 73 DE KN6ZVI

Thanks Alvin, like I said that each person will be different but my settings might be close to get you started. Thanks for the comment!

@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures Taking your advise on testing the setting I have in the intervening time tweaked a few and learned some more about the Tx Audio setting. One "revelation" in particular was the difference between the PRMETRIC and the PPRMETRIC settings. Namely the former is for when you have compression turned OFF and the latter for when you have compression turned ON! I don't know if you went into that level of detail as I have not re-watched the video. I was originally confused a bit when you went thru the settings because of the two prmetric setups. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming. 73 KN6ZVI

Just got my 710 two days ago (2/1/23). I'm brandy new to HF (just upgraded to general about a month ago). I had a borrowed Kensood 570 D which was my first intro to HF. I almost bought it. But, I'm SO glad I gave it back and got this Yaesu Ft-710. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I barely know how to turn it on but got several contacts within setting it up. More than in two weeks with that antique Kenwood! I've been watching every video I can find to help me understand all the goodies built into this radio. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Good tips.

I have had my 710 since September. Worked POTA, DXCC and lot of rag chews running barefoot power. I never have a problem being heard, and just enjoy this SDR radio so much. Setup was easy enough and most hams love to fiddle with their rigs. Really appreciate the large LCD capability, memory functions galore, and the solid support from Yaesu firmware updates work well. Your video was very informative touching on everyone’s uniqueness and preferences. Yaesu’s defaults are a good starting point too. I have the the external speaker model and have found that if I can hear a station I can usually work them. In the past I would shy away from weak signals with my old radio, but not with the 710. I work phone 98% of the time but have been practicing my CW with the 710 also, and hope to get back int this mode soon. Thanks again for the video, Merry Christmas.

Great , Yet on the older IC-7300 you have bass and treble setting , so easy , so simple , so intuitive and sound great on air, I left wondering when Yaesu is going to take a step back and rethink making their gear more user friendly and intuitive.

It's all in what your used to, I have more problems with my IC 705, but I'm used to Yaesu. Both good.

@@KK6USYHamRadioAdventures ?? 705 ?? I am using both ( Yaesu and Icom 100w H.F, sitting on different bands) , yes both are VERY good, but! THAT IS NOT THE ISSUE RAISED, Some radios are just much easier to use and intuitive. TX Audio should be easy to set and the fact that you saw the need to put a video about " how to set your transmit Audio" showing all the setting in their little menu boxes proves this point and point to the different thinking process those companies have.
Viva la difference, options are always a good thing 🤗

@@che59v Absolutely. Yaesu is so much less intuitive than Icom in my humble opinion. I have very high respect for both brands. It just takes me more time to sort out the Yaesu options and I always find myself wanting.

I just checked my audio using your settings recording me on KFS Web SDR and I am a little bassy, but not bad. I even drive the ALC right up to the blue with these settings. Of course that using the peak meter setting and not average which is the default. BTW I cannot stand the 3DSS. My mic eq was off when I did the settings you showed and when I got the mic eq back on they were still changed to the new settings. FYI

I wish there was a screen that showed all meters at one time….. SWR, PO, ALC, etc. Does this exist on the 710?
Just received a 710 today. Keeping my 7300 as well. Eager to compare and learn the strong points of each. Thanks for the video.

I have never used it but "Catmeters" has one that uses the linear/tuner port. He is a ham from new zealand.
