*INCOMING TRANSMISSION FROM CORUSCANT:* Hey everyone! As of today (4/14/20) it's been almost a year and a half since this video was uploaded and it's hit 3 million freakin' views. I honestly cannot begin to fathom how grateful I am to everyone who watched. Even if you disliked the video, I still thank you from the bottom of my heart! Hope everyone's staying healthy and well amidst this corona kerfuffle. After this was uploaded my subscriber count began to grow from the hundreds to the thousands, which is pretty wizard. This video seems to be a hotspot for certain questions and trends that keep popping up on my phone's lock screen almost every other day now, so I'd like to address some of them here: 1. "What game is this?" You'd be surprised at how often this gets asked. This is Star Wars Battlefront II, released in 2017 by EA/DICE. It received some major overhauls and fantastic updates since this video was uploaded in 2018, and it's honestly a really great Star Wars game as I type this! You can usually find a copy for around $20-30 or so, and for that price, it's a freakin steal! The subreddit r/StarWarsBattlefront is a fantastic community that I recommend joining if this video piqued your interest in this game at all. 2. "Where's the rest of the footage/the reason it cut was because Grievous clapped your cheeks lmao" So, the rest of the footage from this fight was on my old PS4's hard drive, which I wiped about a month after this video was uploaded when I upgraded to a PS4 Pro. And yes, I did lose to Grievous in the end (He actually commented on this video under the name of LittleGreenFriend if I remember correctly.) 3. "Play Jedi Academy/Jedi Academy has superior combat/This game's saber combat is poodoo!" This is one I get very often. So I did play Jedi Academy many years before this game even came out. Back then, I really liked the saber combat system. Admittedly, BFII's saber mechanics was a loaded diaper at the time of this video's uploading, but it's since really improved. It falls under the umbrella of "major overhauls and fantastic updates" I talked about earlier, so I like it just as much as Jedi Academy! 4. "Nobody searched for this/CZcams recommendations be like" Yeah, I know lol. Seems like CZcams did me a solid after uploading Battlefront content since 2015! 5. "*insert meme about Grievous/i fEeL tHe gOoD iN yOu/Vader calling me stupid etc.*" Honestly, these never cease to make me laugh, keep them coming! 6. "This was staged." Um, no, it wasn't. BFII's hero showdown seems to have an unspoken rule about proper saber combat etiquette which I try to follow whenever I play. Plus, my teammate left and these guys happened to be really cool! This is an example of the rule in action, I guess! 7. "This was seriously your best duel?" Well, at the time I uploaded this, I thought it was! I believe I've gotten much better at dueling since then, and if you're skeptical, I've uploaded many more matches since this video!
I had a similar battle.Im bad at battlefront of course but my teammate died and it was me against grievous and Vader and I was luke.I lost the battle by like 2 hits but to me that was the greatest battle I've had so far
@@TopazBeast exactly. Grievous has like 0 stamina so draining him with your blaster is easy. Vader is slower and cant travel far distance. Getting a good spot like the *high ground* works well with blaster heros

@Mac Matheson there is 2 hero modes, heroes vs villains (4v4) and hero showdown (2v2) and he was lucky enough to get into a match where opponenta also want to duel, as usually you just get gangbanged 2v1 or 4v1

They "fixed" the thing, of course, there still are a lot of nonsense (but it was impossible not to with 7 and 8 as prequels), but it really felt awesome to me. It left a strange feeling of ending in me, like if even if they make a lot of other movies, my star wars (I mean my personal experience of star wars) ended tonight, ep1 to ep9... I don't know how to explain that now, just know that it was a good star wars movie... for real this time.

@@bobdylan1968 define "great", hitboxes are all over the place, blocking only works 60% of the time, force attacks register damage but not the animation most of the time, sometimes u kill someone in 3 hits, have I mentioned the dodge function is completely broken and the hitbox stays where you were before the dodge for quite a while? It has no skill into it, you just spam until u run out of stamina.
My mains on the Dark Side are Maul and Dooku. I really enjoy Mauls agility and he can good with toying players and wearing down their stamina so you can leap at them with you staff spin back and fouth
Catapillo Yeah the attack mechanic is so jumpy, I’m not a frequenter of the game but in my experience, I just panic spamming RT and jump around pressing whatever force option available. There’s no actual dueling, it’s just whoever lands the first but proceeds to spam and kill you and then use the force on you when you try to escape (unless you use the force to push them back first). I know this is partially because I’m not the best player, but all confrontations are way too rushed and jumpy/stressful. Full of mindless slashing and rapid combos.
It's a nice gameplay but Jesus, the lightsaber combat in this game is so terrible it's just sad. They knew lightsaber duels would be a thing so they could have made them better. Something more like For Honor where you have to use attacks, blocks, dodges and parries with skill, not just dash around like an epileptic and spam abilities. I've had much more cinematic fights as a child when I used to smash action figures against each other...
What bugs me the most is, that you can't do you slam attacks... Jedis and Sith are jumping around like crazy high in the air, yet you can't even do a slam attack, missed opportunity there.
I disagree the lightsaber combat takes a lot of skill. You need to learn how to do it I think. Dodging blocking and attacking are important in the game just as you said. Hero abilities don’t even come into it. You need the SKILL to manoeuvre around your enemy so they cannot block your attacks.

Actually on real match Vader just go easy on Luke. Notice vader fight on Revenge of the Sith, Rebel and Rogue one. It no way vader losing like that on empire strike back and Return of the Jedi. Vader holding back and he still have light inside him about care for his son Luke. Luke just use his anger to defeat Vader but not kill Vader tho.

You can usually see that force users are quick to react yet vader was not that quick considering he was the number 1 jedi hunter in the empire and he lost to luke who had only a few years of training compared to the others he fought. I think by the time he came to his decision, his arm got chopped off.

Ultimate LifeForm actually vader wasn’t trying to kill luke he was trying to turn him to the dark side, but he couldn’t so instead he angers luke by saying he’ll turn leia to the dark side so luke uses his anger towards vader and is able to subdue him. If vader wanted to kill luke he would’ve done so in the empire strikes back

Best lightsaber duel Dashes constantly and uses force push every 5 seconds. It's not your fault this game isn't good for lightsaber duels though. It's...alright. Decent match though.
I love it when the players actually match their surroundings. This reminded me so much of Return of the Jedi. Granted, Vader couldn't be in any other outfit and I'm not sure if you had access to Luke's other outfits, but I'll still give you props for creating a movie-like atmosphere.
That’s definitely common in hvv but Hero Showdown tends to be a bit more civilized. It makes sense because people play it to enjoy the more small scale 1v1 battles like this one.

@Mac Matheson there is 2 hero modes, heroes vs villains (4v4) and hero showdown (2v2) and he was lucky enough to get into a match where opponenta also want to duel, as usually you just get gangbanged 2v1 or 4v1

They "fixed" the thing, of course, there still are a lot of nonsense (but it was impossible not to with 7 and 8 as prequels), but it really felt awesome to me. It left a strange feeling of ending in me, like if even if they make a lot of other movies, my star wars (I mean my personal experience of star wars) ended tonight, ep1 to ep9... I don't know how to explain that now, just know that it was a good star wars movie... for real this time.

@@bobdylan1968 define "great", hitboxes are all over the place, blocking only works 60% of the time, force attacks register damage but not the animation most of the time, sometimes u kill someone in 3 hits, have I mentioned the dodge function is completely broken and the hitbox stays where you were before the dodge for quite a while? It has no skill into it, you just spam until u run out of stamina.

Yeah the attack mechanic is so jumpy, I’m not a frequenter of the game but in my experience, I just panic spamming RT and jump around pressing whatever force option available. There’s no actual dueling, it’s just whoever lands the first but proceeds to spam and kill you and then use the force on you when you try to escape (unless you use the force to push them back first). I know this is partially because I’m not the best player, but all confrontations are way too rushed and jumpy/stressful. Full of mindless slashing and rapid combos.

It's a nice gameplay but Jesus, the lightsaber combat in this game is so terrible it's just sad. They knew lightsaber duels would be a thing so they could have made them better. Something more like For Honor where you have to use attacks, blocks, dodges and parries with skill, not just dash around like an epileptic and spam abilities. I've had much more cinematic fights as a child when I used to smash action figures against each other...
What bugs me the most is, that you can't do you slam attacks... Jedis and Sith are jumping around like crazy high in the air, yet you can't even do a slam attack, missed opportunity there.

You have to pay attention to the stamina bar now and it runs out way to fast
I disagree the lightsaber combat takes a lot of skill. You need to learn how to do it I think. Dodging blocking and attacking are important in the game just as you said. Hero abilities don’t even come into it. You need the SKILL to manoeuvre around your enemy so they cannot block your attacks.

Actually on real match Vader just go easy on Luke. Notice vader fight on Revenge of the Sith, Rebel and Rogue one. It no way vader losing like that on empire strike back and Return of the Jedi. Vader holding back and he still have light inside him about care for his son Luke. Luke just use his anger to defeat Vader but not kill Vader tho.

You can usually see that force users are quick to react yet vader was not that quick considering he was the number 1 jedi hunter in the empire and he lost to luke who had only a few years of training compared to the others he fought.

Manuel Amaya Luke would’ve won in return of the Jedi either way, Vader only fought slow cause of the limits in his suit, not really cause he was holding back Luke was way more experienced in return of the Jedi than empire strikes back so he was a better duelist
Ultimate LifeForm actually vader wasn’t trying to kill luke he was trying to turn him to the dark side, but he couldn’t so instead he angers luke by saying he’ll turn leia to the dark side so luke uses his anger towards vader and is able to subdue him. If vader wanted to kill luke he would’ve done so in the empire strikes back

I love it when the players actually match their surroundings. This reminded me so much of Return of the Jedi. Granted, Vader couldn't be in any other outfit and I'm not sure if you had access to Luke's other outfits, but I'll still give you props for creating a movie-like atmosphere.

That’s definitely common in hvv but Hero Showdown tends to be a bit more civilized. It makes sense because people play it to enjoy the more small scale 1v1 battles like this one.
