I started having more success this wipe when I stopped wearing armor for players and started wearing armor for scavs. Tier 2 soft may be terrible against players but the number of times ive died to a random scav one shotting my neck is the reason I won't wear anything that doesn't protect neck.
Same, although i would like to have some really good plates and helmets for players jic, like class 4 everywhere and a class 3 helmet that protects ears, i'll happily use the 6b23 or the blue next vest thingy, cuz of that neck protection
Do the trade or purchase the defender/redut-m from the flea. They're like 120k for the soft armor itself and they fit any western plates, and they have groin and neck protection.
Thor with light plates has me feelin like im flying

They really need to buff the small plate carriers in some way, I think either a solid movespeed buff or a average higher class of plates that only work in the small plate carriers
It is indeed a bit sad that from one day to the next all plate carriers went from being good finds to completely irrelevant, except for insurance frauding your plates if you find one with class 5/6.
They should at minimum remove all debuffs from plate carriers imo, to give them some relevancy, and that would still make them undesirable to most people.
They should add all the basic plate carriers to level 1 traders and just give them like class 3 or 4 plates by default
No they don't need a buff since they are trash IRL, it's already artificially buffed in game since it's a one size fits all but in reality even the big sizes barely cover the nipples. What it needs is to stop being expensive, like it's trash and still is insanely expensive for no reason.

FSB fast response and FSB urban tact are my go to, but you'll never catch me in a lvl 2 aramid or worse carrier with 5/6 plates

I definitely should start keeping track of my deaths, but anecdotally I feel like most my deaths are headshots or arms/legs, the difference between 2 shots and 3 shots to pen dont worry me as much when the gun is raising up towards my head
I think that's a survivorship bias you're noticing. The fights where your armor saves you don't get remembered because you survived the fight
@@davidmoslow4177 well yeah that's why documenting every death would be interesting, and if I'm surviving fights with class 2 soft armor than that proves the point that it's not that big of a difference

Been using bagariy a lot this wipe. No neck, but there are sideplates. Its pretty cheap and has a great layout too
Y'know. As much as I like these types of videos. I feel like 90% of my deaths are instant headshots or me headshoting an enemy, so this rarely ever comes up.
been experimenting with just wearing ultra lightweight stuff like MMAC and Banshee with class 5 GAC and Monocletes, so far I’ve been tracking how I died and aramid coverage saves me far less than I expected with the headshots and maniacs running with M61s full auto
The thor with front/back C5 left/right C6 is so good it tanks so many bodyshops...
Still get head eyesed, but its a nice thought

The only reason I need armor is those cracked scavs. For the Defender body armor I always try to do a scav run where I try to find those hammers and use them for the barter.

I would have loved to see the numbers added in for the 6B5-15. I see a lot streamers wearing it now since it’s class 4 soft across the entire front and back. With most high end trader bullets in the 40-50 pen range I feel this could be a very strong choice. Yes, you lose the option for the double damage reduction of the plate + soft, but gain class 4 protection everywhere.

Yup, they also always find P ospreys and they never switch out their doodoo cpc, then they cry when a buckshot scav or a timmy necks/thorax them with shit ammo.
@@vhuyjgvyj Yeah I saw this in action the other day. AquaFPS using MMAC - dies in two shots to pump action buckshot scav. Kill zone shows thorax, not armpits, so the scav shot the chest area where the crappy rig has no soft protection. And this is the same video where he wears Tagilla rig, CPC and Hexgrid even after Abney told him to take the plates out and put them in something that's actually good. They would all get you killed the exact same way.
Would love to hear your thoughts on the Flora Uley Armor. Saw Lvndmark unironically using it.
It is the only armor with complete class 4 protection on front thorax/not just plate hitbox. It is heavy, ceramic, has small storage space, can't have any class 5 or 6 plates, no side protection.
It is decent throw-away armor. I often use it when questing and I don't need to carry tons of loot and I will avoid most engagements, but still want to be able to survive a few shots
People sleeping on the AVS. I ran the THOR and CPC until the AVS saved me from 762 BP to the stomach / groin. Side plates rarely get hit, but stomach / groin get hit almost every fight.
The Avs stopped the round?

I still think all bullets damage could be lowered a tad, just enough to push it into requiring 1 one shot for a kill on average. Especially now since the armour plate change, there's just so much more fleshy bits available.
I think it would reduce the amount of insta death and would get people feeling bit more brave and more confident to move and traverse the map.
This explains why in my raid 4 shots of SA AP to chest had only 70 damage instead of actually doing the job and killing the guy.
superb coverage of a very sought after topic. them lvl 6 side armor plates have been puttin in hella work for me. and since ragman 4 the gen4 and redut are heavy but i find worth the movement hinderance. very tanky against all bullets from what i can tell. still get head eyes tho.
RIP my beautiful blue flak jackets. They were /fa/ as fuck, and quite good in older versions.
Only thing class 2 armor is going to stop is ammo with under 8 penetration
even then...it's not worth the 20k rubles you would spend on the armor anyway.
I only use class 2 armor if I pick it up and had nothing.
I was shot with BMG slug 1 time in the thorax on my level 6 plate and was 1 shot, insanity
You sure it hit the plate? The plate does not cover the entire thorax hitbox and you can shoot around it.
Bmg can 1 tap the shoulders.
1 tapped a pmc at 87m thorax with Class 5. I was amazed when they dropped..
Even before the armor change I never trusted anything under level 5 armor, and I still don't
So now that the armor change is here I only run lvl 3 soft and lvl 5 plates, lvl 4 gets me killed, lvl 5 gets me kills
I go in with the Press armor and swap the plates. People don’t even bother looking at the plates and I always get it back 😂
I don’t think I’ve died to anything but face shots this entire wipe.

Can someone explain how the ulay rig works?
It is basically class 4 soft armor on the entire thing, except neck which is class 2. Only armor that covers the entire front thorax with class 4 armor. Downside is you can't put any class 5/6 plates in it, no side protection, and it is ceramic so it has a lower effective durability (when it gets hit and loses points it becomes less and less effective).

Go to the website he mentions and find out. The short of it it is armor that armor that is in a plate hotbox will act like a plate, while armor that isn't will work the same as the old armor system. So the green uley is class 4 "soft" armor

Irl it has a huge ceramic plate with aramid, but eft counts all of it like a class 4 soft armor, because of... reasons

I’ve been running exclusively the Thor with just a class 6 front plate. Keeps me very light and mobile with class 6 protection. Not sure why people run back plates. I’ve been shot in the back plate less than 10 times this wipe maybe, and most of those 10 times are scavs with bad ammo.
Not to mention it makes your plates go much further. I can do a barter for 200k, take the class 6 plates out, and make 2 Thor class 6 armors for ~150k each.
People are printing class 5 gac plates in their hideouts and the thor comes with class 4 playes so they don't feel the need to remove the back plate.
Personally I run backplates as well after I get in a shootout in my front plate gets damaged I can swap them around and have a fresh t6 in front

@@Ithrial420 That’s valid for sure. Usually though after a fight if my front plate is smashed I’ll just swap it out with the other players backplate or take their own armor and fraud mine. Doesn’t always work out but it works out enough that I don’t feel it’s necessary.

@@alfariziislam3796 not in the past no. Last wipe and every wipe before if an armor was stated to cover your chest hit box it covered THE WHOLE chest hit box including the sides. Instead of just a square in the middle.

The ammo and armor system in Tarkov is a mess.
They should simplify that so the majority of the payers understand it.

I don't care about all of this at all, this stage of the wipe i just take samurai armor+death shadow mask+bastion with armor plate+comtac 4 every raid. With lvl 3 bitcoin farm and over 50 millions in stash why should i even care about money efficiency?
