- The 13 BEST things about having a baby and becoming a mom 🤗
This video is a follow-up from a previous video of mine where I had an open and honest conversation about my early motherhood struggles and the things I wish I had known before having a baby. Watch “The 13 hardest things about having a baby (so far)” here: • The 13 hardest things ...
I’m almost 2 years into my “fourth trimester” and while navigating motherhood as a first-time mom has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, OVERALL, my view of this experience has absolutely been a NET POSITIVE. I would-and will-do it again!

In this video, I discuss the best things I’ve experienced (so far) in my transition to motherhood. The first point talks about conception, pregnancy, and physically bringing a baby into the world, so it’s only relevant to those who are birthing their babies, but as the video progresses, I talk more about the universal experiences of parenthood that almost anyone can relate to.
In total, I share 13 things I’ve loved about becoming a mom-things like watching myself grow into the role of “mom,” realizing how capable I am, watching my baby learn new skills, and carrying on traditions and breaking cycles. I also talk about how to meet mom friends (having a baby literally quadrupled my friendships) and different ways to find joy in motherhood (like how your baby will help you remember how to enjoy the simple things in life and lean into playfulness + wonder).
I shared this in my previous video, but the heart of this series is me remembering those early days of parenting-feeling like overnight, my entire life had changed. I wanted to share my motherhood experience, talk about what it feels like, express what no one tells you about becoming a mom, and help give you an idea of what to expect when you’re expecting so you don’t feel as blindsided as I did. Yes, motherhood is difficult AND, yes, it is also FULL of joy. I wanted to shed light on both of those facts.
If you are currently pregnant or interested in having a baby in the future and have ever thought something along the lines of, “It would be SUPER COOL if someone could give me one neatly packaged guidebook with EVERYTHING I NEED inside so that I could just enjoy the journey a bit more and know that I had something to reference at every stage…” I have something FOR YOU. I built possibly the most exciting digital offering I’ve ever created: my Motherhood Superguide. It has links to EVERY PRODUCT we use and love, access to all the content that I've created or that I consumed during conception, pregnancy, and postpartum-from CZcams videos to podcasts to books. I even give you my pregnancy bullet journal e-book FOR FREE inside and share never before seen things like screenshots of my feeding schedule with Milo at various stages of his life and more. Basically, it’s ALL the things that I wish I had been sent!

I’m so glad you put the positive side of parenting! So rare to find them nowadays
I feel this video so much!! I’ve been thriving as a mama after my girl turned 1 or so. She’s getting so much more independent and fun! She helps me really live in the moment, and I smile so much when I’m with my girl.
awww i love this, thanky ou for sharing!
I love this! I watched the 13 hardest things video when it came out & was looking forward to this one. I myself don't have kids yet & am honestly on the fence. So getting a truthful rounded picture is so helpful. I was wondering if you could share your thoughts (maybe in a future video!) about how you balance being a mom & maintaining a sense of self. That's probably my biggest holdup in having kids. The loss of the "old me," my hobbies, my free time, etc. is more than a little terrifying 😂So I would love your take on making time for yourself, doing the things that make you feel like "you," remembering that you're still your own individual person while still taking care of a child, being a mom and continuing to work, etc.
yesss such a vital question - working on more content like this!
The "of course it was you" comment made me get teary eyed. I feel that everyday. Like you were the part of me that I didn't even know was missing. ❤ I know that he is his own little person on his own little path through this world but I am so grateful to get to hold his hand for as long as he will want me there as he goes down that path. ❤ This journey has been hard and postpartum depression was the lowest part of my life but he makes any hardship worth it and I am so grateful to have him the good and the hard.
TRULY - I can't believe Milo hasn't been here for my whole life!!!
I’m the mom to a 3 mo old and your #1 is definitely on my list. I love to tell him “I grew you!” and despite him not knowing what I am saying he responds with a giant gummy smile like I am his entire world. Definitely fills my cup ❤
Thank you for sharing this with us, Lucie! I’m a new mom too and I agree with everything you said ❤
This video feels so so good to watch. I feel really apprechative for the past two years and even more since I watched you talkeing about the things you love. Feels so good during those ups and downs we all know!
Woooooo!
Love this! Currently pregnant with my first and I found so much comfort in this video.
Awww so happy to hear this!!
Thank you, focus on the positive side of kids isn't shared nearly enough.
❤
My babe is almost12 months, and this video has me 🥹. I agree, there’s nothing more grounding and transformative. Being a mama is by far my favorite role I’ve had in this life.
Younger follower 🙋♀️ I’m 28 and have really loved your content about pregnancy motherhood now that I’m considering that stage for myself. (You also were a factor of how I figured out I have celiac.)
Wow, glad you caught your celiac!! Sending love!
Baby girl is coming next week and I’ve been low key stressed so this was such a balm for the soul😅
WOW obsessed with this comment
I have a 6 weeks old baby and this video made me so emotional 🥹❤️
awwwww
Aww I'm 23 and am not thinking about having a baby but it makes me so happy to hear all of the joys! So excited for your next chapter in your new house!!
thank you so much for being here!!
Thank you so much Lucie, I felt how emotional and grateful you are to talk about all this, you got me crying !!! What an amazing adventure, you 3 are doing so great ! I would say, agreeing with most of what you said, that I love how pregnancy and motherhood got me "growing" and evolving profoundly (as never anything else did), and how I managed to take care of myself during pregnancy (more than any other time in my life). Now I try to keep these good habits, and to keep in mind that I am worth taking care of myself even when I am not pregnant :D
AWWW this is special :)))
To your point 12, my mom always says, I wonder what we used to talk about before we had kids 😅 I completely see that as my friends have become parents, I just love asking them about their kids and watching them grow and explore.
my nephew is due this november and this makes me so excited to have. ababy in the family!
Your own children are unconditionally loved.
Thank you so much for this video! Also I love how you said “parenting team” because that is exactly how parenting should be approached… it’s not a 1-2 person job but a team job bc it’s impossible without help.
Also where is you sweater from?! I love it
I actually ordered it on amazon! amzn.to/48Yemsi
And THANK YOU!

Hello, I love your videos, they are so fun. Are you interested in cooperating with e-bike.
i wonder if you will ever have twins since it runs in your family!
Julia- just a note from Lucie’s dad. Lucie & Allie are fraternal twins. Only identical twins are hereditary. I think the older women get, the more likely they are to have twins. Lucie & Allie’s mom was 38 when she had them.
correction dad!! @@jimmyfink136 mom was 40 when she had us! 38 when she had robbie!
