Every time you post I think “damn, does it get any better than this?” And… it does! Holy fucking shit dude.
thanks mate!
Brecker on a guitar - no freaking way ... Outrageous!
Memorising all that jazz … Bravo Josh !
I've never seen anything like it. I thought Guthrie was boss but this young man is on another level.
Mind blown - thank you!
As it says on the amp: Matchless!
Josh has raised the level of soloing to new heights of brilliance.
Absolute insanity
So excellent!👏🏽 wich version of “song for bilbao” is it?
To do Brecker on guitar is stunning, and imitate the off the horn notes as well....technical artistry
Wow
That was beautiful man
Amazing work! Your technique is superb, very fluid!
Precisely played. Amazing!
Wow that was a quick upload. Insane work on this one as always.
Love this tune and solo and to play it on guitar, wow, absolutely insane!
Absolute fantastic!
Incredible job🎉
This is beyond insane. Well done man.
Wow, I would have assumed a lot of that was unplayable on the guitar. Bravo!
1:30 - is that pedalling just there? Cool!
Amazing!!!!
Awesome! Brilliant solo choice
Great performance. Thank you for sharing. Good luck!
Outstanding Josh. I was born in Bilbao so this especially means a lot to me. Thank you 🙏
Great, great, great! Super inspirational.
Mind blowing!
I'll do this one tonight... in my dreams. :) sounded pretty much dead on to me. Not into jazz at all but I listened for any mistakes and really, didn't hear any. You followed the sax so closely it was like hearing one of those old MIDI guitar tracking things from the 90s. Play guitar, get synth and guitar at the same time. Great job.
Awesome Joshua!
Awesome Josh...hope to see you at your next gig in Sydney (when/where ?) once lockdown finishes. PS I saw you busk with your dad years ago and I thought at the time" Wow, who is this kid and I wonder where he'll go with all of that musicality" now I know.
Sorry mate, from what I'm seeing, you poor folks down under are heading straight to real fascism and totalitarianism....you won't ever get out of lockdown and curfews...
thanks mate! nothing in the books at the moment cos of lockdown unfortunately. oh amazing man thank you
OMG dude WTH!!! Beautiful!!!
Could we get an isolated track of you? I’m curious about your bends for breckers multiphonics. Mind is blown every time I watch these videos.
dude your picking is so relaxed.
Nailed it!
Genius!
This is sooo goood!!!
Thank you
Hell yeah dude!
Haha my brain just melted, thank you.
Respect!
Insane.
Josh you should put up some lessons for us to learn, it will be a blessing🙏 for all of us. Thanks again
Check the description.
for the moment I have lessons available on my Patreon man :) and also can teach privately online, just shoot me a dm on instagram
Just totally amazing, at the highest level!!! Are there any solos you run into where you've just said, "Nope, too hard", like the rest of us? :)
cheers mate! haha kinda but I'll usually give it a go anyway, and see how close I can get
Sick
Transcribing is the way....👍🎸😉
Outdid yourself once again. Amazing cover.
Holy fuck!! That is beyond good!!!
My gawd! Flawless!! (but my fingers hurt just watching this 😱)
Yesssssss!
Goosebumps generator
Good lawd!
Wow wow wow
Brilliant. You have the most fluid picking style I've ever seen Joshua.
Now I want to try out for jazz band at my school 😭
And then, after you Metheny begins. Outstanding transcription, as usual, and some lines are truly an achievement in terms of how you have adapt a trumpet to 6 strings. Congrats!!!
Tenor sax
that microtone at 1:11 !!!
This is the reason I barely touch my guitar anymore. I went to Vai, Satriani, and Malmsteen G3 in PDX years ago and they sent me home with my tail between my legs.
amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fucking remarkable!
❤️
did you snarl at :50 ? yea you did!!! i love it!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
hahah caught it ;) thx mate!
great work as always! you should upload the ember etude to CZcams!
thx man!
Joshua, have you checked out Anton Davidyants covering Brecker’s solo in ‘Peep’ on bass? That was my first exposure to Brecker and am learning more as I go. Your playing is of course stunning…
Изумительно!
Let Guthrie make a reaction video to this one, please :D
Virtuoso.
Awesome! What kind of guitar picks do you use :)?
big stubby 3mm
Me tossing all my guitars into a bonfire. 🎸>>>🔥💀
very impressive .but could not listen to it for long it would drive me crazy ;-)
How do you learn something like that? Do you start by memorising the solo by repeated listening and turn it into little part, learning each up to tempo and then stitch them together? Trying to get those saxophone and piano solos on the guitar is truly transformative.
relative pitch
Joshua don't you have any emphaty, compassion and mercy for us normal humans guitar players ? ;)
Well Sir...you are amaaazing !
I enjoy every video you post.
Thank you
haha thank you Raul !
You’re a mind blowing
サックスの個性をギターで表現してる!!!すげーな
How?
And on this day for approximately 2 minutes I contemplated breaking my own fingers
Have you considered live-streaming?
aye yeh I should !
This is not only a tone. What do you use to get this saxophone effec? Please i need It!!!
im playing with a sax recording man !
Praise!! Their has been prodigies but this cat is completely n sync.......
I do not play this good even in my dreams honestly.
What model tele is that? And what Humbucker?
Kazoo Kid was really in his prime when recording this
hahahahah
I'd be very curious to know how long it takes you to transcribe something like this.
It's interesting how suddenly this solo takes a very different meaning when I see it played on the guitar... It's like my brain makes more sense of it through the guitar, I can follow the story more easily. Weird... Maybe jazz guitar player shouldn't waste anymore time transcribing Metheny, Stern or Hall and focus on wind instruments improvisations instead?
Yes. It's like their phrasing language and sense of creativity is from another world. When I look for guitar covers of my favorite sax solos, I will often think that the solos are hard to follow or ground on scales and patterns. Once I see them in the guitar, I notice 2 things: a) insane phrasing that guitarists simply don't come up with, perhaps because the fingering isn't natural, and b) really "silly and dumb" stuff that no guitarist would do because it's not cool among guitarists, but that sounded free, expressive, groovy on the sax (e.g., 0:124).
It’s almost like those masters you mentioned were already doing that before josh was born. Metheny for example was a horn player before he picked up the guitar.
I agree, but I don’t think transcribing metheny and brecker are mutually exclusive. I think you can do both.
Most don’t realize that the fast passages by brecker are always him superimposing Countdown changes over a static point. Brecker doesn’t swing. But it’s very impressive they way you can play seemingly anything on guitar. Try Sonny stitt it’ll be easier and way better music.
disagree entirely my guy, this solo rips. Stitt is a legend and have transcribed a lot of his playing.
@@joshuameader2111 Thanks mate for replying. well bottom line it’s amazing you can play this. Truly. When I went to Berklee in late 80’s all I wanted to do was play like Brecker on guitar. No way I could do this. But i moved to NYC and got to study with Ron Carter there and play sideman gigs and learned to appreciate that “it don’t mean a thing without that swing.” I still never got near your technique and wish I had or I wouldn’t be a lawyer now 😂 Kidding aside, recker was a great player but he doesn’t swing. His best playing is on chick corea’s Three quartets IMO and it’s been transcribed already btw but again he’s just super imposing Countdown over pedal points largely. Or doing the Coltrane Interstellar Space wailing away like Coltrane did in the 60’s. He really doesn’t swing. It’s dark music. I just say Sonny Stitt because he’s so happy in his playing- the world is crazy enough and we don’t need these nihilistic jazz solos do we?. I’d love to hear you do whatever you think is Sonny’s best most challenging and also uplifting solo- that would be amazing . (I’ll do a patreon contribution for sure). And of course the goal is eventually to have it come out in your playing. Would love to hear you with backing track or band where all this impossible sound material comes through. Keep up the hard work- you’re definitely amazing mate! 🤙
@@joshuameader2111 and I edited my comment to be Less critical of brecker. My concern about so many guitarists/jazz players coming up is this emphasis on playing out, not sounding “old” and swinging. On guitar we hear holdsworth coming back in vogue but the guy literally had no swinging rhythmic drive. George benson when he’s on (check out his studio solo on Little Train) , joe pass on night and day, Wes Montgomery- those are the greatest examples of swinging guitar that is also technically impressive. We have to be aware of what is being pushed and why. We must always stave off nihilism in the world and it has no place in our music. All the best!
So amazing, that I reckon, if technologically advanced extraterrestials aliens ever come, this is one of the people that should welcome them.
Ε?
Should I just quit now.. Damn! I am just trying to learn the melody...
