I've wanted a drone for some time. I started doing commercial field inspections and decided now was the time to get a drone for roof inspections. I found the Atom at a reasonable price and jumped on it. It's been way too much fun. And the photos that it takes are very high quality. Super happy with the product.

Thanks for the review, Dan! Used your code to order it and I was impressed how quickly it got to me (shipped from within Germany). I have plenty of RC models incl. several helis and planes but never really tried a drone (outside of some micro toys). I absolutely love the Atom SE and I personally do not miss a "proper" gimble (much) - I just take videos and shots for fun and enjoy the very solid sensor quality, especially considering the price I paid for it. I am sure that plenty of drone enthusiasts would never consider this instead of a DJI but for any "demanding drone beginner" this is just about perfect. Without a doubt 5/5 stars! 😅

I comparison shopped, learning and losing other drones for months. I fly in the city.
Does what I need and want. Resolution is excellent. Stop nit-picking. For about 200 dollars, this is it! You'll never remake Gone With the Wind. Get real.

Quite the offering. How would you compare it to the Mini2SE and3?
Flight performance is similar, but the stabilisation and camera quality is a lot better on the Mini 2 SE and 3.

Were you able to test the return to home? you would certainly like it to do so on a low battery or signal loss situation.
I did not have to test the return to home feature as I flew back when I was at 30%. It did force itself in to return to home at one point but I cancelled it and landed manually 🛬

Great video thanks for sharing only problemi have with mine is i carnt find any video on how to format the SD card ive asked someone else and they just sent me a link to 1 of there videos which did not tell me how to format the SD card so i was wondering if u could help me with this has my videos are watery and choppy please can u help me as i dont know how to format the Sd card for this drone many thanks.
You should be able to format the card through the settings?
Sorry if I missed this but if I use an SD card is the only way to transfer the footage to my iPhone is Via an external card reader?
That is what I do, I believe that you can plug the drone into your computer as well.

Great review. Question: Does it determine where you can and cannot fly? I have a DJI Mini 2 and live 4.99 miles from a small airport and I am unable to fly in my own backyard due to DJIs limitations.
I don’t know, I never tested this. Check the link in my description. It will tell you if the Atom SE has geofencing restrictions. You might want to reach out to Potensic directly.

Can you overlay street names on the gps map that is in the bottom left hand corner, to help better orient your drone's position?
I believe that you can change the map view, I did not thoroughly test it and I don’t own the drone anymore so I can’t comment.

Sorry if you said but when you want to transfer videos and pics from drone to laptop or pc do you have to remove the micro SD card and put it in the lap top or can you simply plug in the drone to laptop via usb

Dang I wish I saw this video. I just ordered the Fimi x8 mini v2 a day or 2 before this video was released. I like how they both have a controller that's like a Nintendo Switch, it makes it easier to touch the phones screen. The controllers both look the same but they are different brands. I wonder if they both have the same 3rd party company make them?

The Fimi Mini v2 is far more capable and alot better than the Potensic Mini.
Would this be a good starter option to use for real estate photography in your opinion?
Go with a know brand like DJI. The mini 3 is perfect for real estate photography and you’ll have the comfort of knowing you own a good brand. Just my two cents

Good question, I did not test this. I just copied the footage from the Micro SD to my computer.

Quite honestly bro the vast majority of us new drone fliers are not interested in 'follow me' or 'way points' or 'circle me' or any of those other fly around gimmicks. We just want good photos, simple operation and some very good range. And return-to-home that works😁

The Potensic Atom has a 3-axis gimbal. You want the one with the better gimbal system. The SE does not completely stabilise the footage or level out the horizon.

Watch my video again, the footage is not entirely stable and the horizon is on a tilt. Do you mind what your video footage looks like?

I own 2 Potensic atom se drones. And I'm disappointed at how fast they go into Attie mode. WAY too soon and close to the controller. Ive had mine 75' high, 20' to the side and Attie mode would kick in. Not good

Honest review. I used your code and just bought one on the official store. Very reasonable price, another € 40 reduction! I hope it will arrive soon. I have experience with RC flight, but I'm a novice when it comes to drones. At a price of € 256 delivery included, having a 4k drone that apparently has all the feautures you summed up, is a bargain I presume. :-)

Not true. This drone is great, people seem to love it. The only major issue is the lack of a 3-axis gimbal which is being fixed with the latest version.

Not at all. The drone is fine, the main problem is the 2-axis gimbal.
Looking at your footage, the horizon on this drone is consistently crooked. And crooked by a big margin.

Do you want to explain to everyone else reading this what exactly you're talking about?
@@DanielCrist Certainly. Follow-me is kinda my thing. Many don't understand the feature.
First, there are basically two types of follow-me: 'Sting' and 'Compass'. Only the last type is usable like when you're on a bike trip. It means you can position the drone north south east west of you and it will stay there. Of course without obstacle avoidance you want to see what it is doing. Watching the phone screen is not possible riding a bike, in the Sun, looking at where you're going. But it is easy to watch the drone if it flies in front/next of you in view. So you can steer it around a tree or something.
The Atom SE, as many other drones, has 'String' type. It will slide to the side and only follow from behind. Most people were born with their eyes in front of their head. So you can't see the drone. Unless you are walking slowly watching the phone screen. You have to fly the drone very high to avoid hazards. And you won't see much of the landscape with you in it.
Secondly. You didn't mention if you can use the sticks to position the drone where you want, and while in follow-me mode. I bough a C-Fly Faith Mini and it disables stick input in follow-me mode!!! That makes the feature useless. I have to go in the app, press the follow-me stop button, and take over control, then fly it around a tree, go in the app again......
Lastly, very important!! Does it .update homepoint??? Belive it or not, when you move you are no longer at the spot where it took off! Imagine riding down a pass in the mountains, and having to race up again like an idiot before a truck runs over you beautiful quadcopter! I had a F11 4k Pro. The video was good, the follow-me worked, but it flew back without any warning! So I sold it again. It was also hard to fly smooth manually at the right pace.
Now before you say you need to spend more money, my LYZRC L109 Pro does everything right. Compass type, I an use the sticks anytime and it will immediately follow again, and it automatically updates homepoint where I am, or stopped follow-me. It will hover for a while and very slowly come down giving me all the time to take over control and land it where I want. And the funny drone keeps me very nicely in view! It is not as responsive as the Fimi A3 ( best GPS follow-me drone ever made), but it does a great job following the phone. I just wish the video was better! The lens is fish-eye, and the cheap 2-axis gimbal very shaky. If it had EIS like the Atom SE I would buy one right away. Without a fragile gimbal it is much easier to carry in your pocket or bike bag.
So hopefully I have explained how follow-me should work. Trust me, I know what i'm talking about. Most reviewers don't. It ain't their thing. They stand in a field and are only interested in pure video quality. For me the video quality comes second. I want a small reliable easy to fly drone manually, with a proper programmed follow-me. It's all in the app! Maybe a DJI Mini 2 with Litchi or Maven would make me happy?
@@DanielCrist and you're right about DJI's Active-Track. It's a great feature with many advantages. But nobody uses it on a bike tour where you don't have time for all the trial and error. They all fly it manually. But I'm sure they would use follow-me if it worked as simple as on my L109 Pro drone.
@@driewiel I'm not sure why you keep addressing me as if it is my video, I just wanted to know what you were trying to say, and I'm sure anyone else reading your comment also was wondering, because you made it sound as if he said something that was incorrect about this drone's follow me feature.
And to be honest, I'm still not sure what you were trying to say, other than that your drone has a superior follow-me mode, but it's not like he was saying this was the best follow-me mode on the market or anything, the only statement he really made about it was that he felt that this signal-based follow me was better than a visual-based follow me.
