  • I bought a 2022 Yamaha MT 07 abs new. After my First Ride review and first impression to see if it’s still worth owning in 2024 vs the Triumph Trident 660, Ktm 790 duke, Honda Hornet cb750 or 650, Kawasaki z650, Suzuki GSX-8S or GSX-8R. I’ve have had a Vstrom 650, Street triple 660, tracer 900 gt, triumph tiger 1050 abs and my wife’s SV650. I almost got a Tracer 9 gt plus + but for 3x the money and all the weight gain, all those electronics and over powered engine for Japanese roads, it’s not worth it. And there is just something about simple brakes, simple suspension, and cable throttle. I’ve add cruise control from MCcruise to have a bit of luxury. I wasn’t going to get a bigger, more expensive, less useable bike just for cruise control, I also like veridian cruise and will look at them for a ride by wire bike I’m concidering. The bike has a euro 5 ZARD exhaust muffler that is plenty loud without being as obnoxious as sc project or arrow and passes road inspection like leo vince to be street legal here in Japan. 車検okマフラーオーケー. I’ve added ebc double-h sintered break pads that were definitely worth it. It has kyb kayaba suspension for the rear shock and hyperpro street box with the progressive front fork spring for a slip easy install in cartridge kit on a budget. Adjustable levers, rear sets, handgrards, and bar end mirrors were nice littles add-ons. And basic amazon case covers, axle sliders, dayton frame sliders, and custom tayler 33 reflective rim tape all in black and gold for protection. And of course my micro mini blinkers and siquential leds in the Rear with a nice tail tidy that was much cheaper than a brand like Yoshura or akrapovic. I’ve aslo had a bagster comfort seat, that I had to sell and now like the oem comfortseat but would love the Corbin or sargent seats.
    This may still be the best light weight naked bike for the money.

    This makes a great daily rider as well as touring, there is a lot they don’t tell you when looking at big first rides and reviews. Do you need upside down forks? Do you need traction control and power modes on a bike of this size? Do midsized small motorcycles tour well with the best mods for your bike? Riding a motorbike at night or all day doesn’t have to be a crazy expensive top of the line touring luxury, budget works great and will save money for you to get your favorite mods. For stunts, track days, and a brutal sounding engine with plenty of torque, this is hard to beat. All the features you need for dank wheelies, stoppies, and even drifting. A very usable stunt bike.

    The exhaust had some troubles with a leaking header.
    Zard replaced the part under warranty and now it's running perfect.
    Zard claims a slight power gain, I think believe it now!

    Dude, AMAZING - thanks so much!! This is exactly the video I needed to see after months of pulling out hair about getting an illegal exhaust or not. This will do the trick while being legal in japan - and the Sound - unreal. Thanks so much for sharing.

      Hey, just so you know. My bike was down 10-20% on power. Just put stock exhaust back on and all fixed.
      Zard said no need for a tune, but I'd say get a tune if you get the exhaust. I'll probably try to sell my zard exhaust

    If you actually found a titanium version of this sold somewhere let me know because I’d be interested, but the one on their site & Rakuten doesn’t appear to be unless it’s mislabeled or I’m missing something

    Hello! Thank you for a great DIY. Really cool that you are a mechanic at official Yamaha store, so maybe you can give me some answers on following questions… I have a ‘22 euro5 mt07. 1 question: A lot of manufacturers are offering Euro5 exhaust without cat, if I’ll put it, do I need to remap(tune) the ECU? I read a few scary stories on forums that decat without remap can damage the engine, is it true? 2 question: warranty… If I’ll put the exhaust without cat and something happens, will it void the warranty? But for example, if I’ll put the stock exhaust back before visiting the dealer, there will be no problem?

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před rokem +1

      It is different in each country, if you remap it will PROBABLY cause warranty issues. If you use and exhaust that is not euro 5 on a euro 5 bike, that will PROBABLY cause warranty issue is Yamaha can prove you did that. ALL, 100% ALL Euro 5 exhausts have a CAT. If it doesn’t have a cat it won’t be real euro 5 and will have back pressure issues, this will cause issues over time, even just a few 1,000km, you will see issues. If you remap and it is not done right, we have see those cause engines to burn valves and the repairs can cost more than the bike.
      Personally, I would never de-cat or tune a none race bike. I would just get a faster bike. If sound is your real goal, get something like sv650 or hornet 750, you can leave the stock headers and CAT but just do the end pipe. **should** need a tune or cause any issues and easy to put it to stock when you need service.
      But other mechanics may give you other answers. I only work with Yamaha and only my shop and only in Tokyo.

      @@kairyurider I’m really In love with mt07 in all ways, how it feels, how it handles in daily driving and of course the sound of cp2. I definitely don’t want to remap it, most important to me is possible engine damage because of the decat and not remaping ECU. So thank you for the answer, will buy exhaust with cat and simply take the db killer off. About euro5, all parts must be homologated and they are, but cat not included, so yeah, it’s like euro5, but actually not 😁

    I'm wondering to which DB levels aftermarket Euro 5 exhausts have to adhere to. I recently installed an Arrow Thunder (fully Euro 5 homologated) on my MT-07 and it's also a LOT louder than stock. You definitely loose the MT-07's stealth factor. Lot's of fun though.

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před rokem +2

      Same with this. But what I install at work is a pointless sound difference.
      Makes me wonder why zard xan be so much more dramatic

      Is there a decibel limit involved with euro 5

  • @Fee.1
    @Fee.1 Před rokem

    There’s something perplexing about calling these euro 5 to me I wonder what the loophole is that allows that. I mean I’m happy it exists but this is louder than euro 4 factory bikes. There’s no muffler at all, just a pipe. Fascinating.

    • @kairyurider
      @kairyurider  Před 2 měsíci

      You have to run the exhaust at idle for a few min up to 10 min.
      There are resins that have to get bakes in.
      You should also check for leaks by holding your hand close to each joint and connection to feel gasses blowing out.
      But if you're worried, contact the maker

      If it's too loud, look at a different baffle or find a way to mound a longer tube over the inner baffle to vover the holes and extend the silencer.
