As an amateur with woodworker, i typically feel overpowered with the entire arrangement czcams.com/users/postUgkxrYREG3-7f1Aqk9ams3ZESRNzGnfdUtyQ . Be that as it may, this arrangements drove me through with much clarity and effortlessness woodplans. Works i now work like a genius. That is great!
Thoroughly enjoyable . It can be irritating when people get off the subject , but the kangaroos were a nice touch . I'll be watching this multiple times .
The ‘Chairmakers Notebook’ is probably be of the best woodworking books so far this century. It has had a positive effect on every facet of my woodworking; not just chairs. Thanks for the content, I really like the scrap wood challenges
It's a small thing, but I really appreciate how you made sure to mention the book and the author more than once. There are so many CZcamsrs that make it seem like they either just know everything already or were smart enough to figure it out on their own. Obviously this isn't a project for beginners, but even those more advanced in woodworking will be discouraged if they think they should be able to do something without a guidebook or advice from a professional. Great video, beautiful result! (Not to mention it's all scrapwood!!)
I was looking for videos on how to make tapered cuts on. table saw; I then come across this video and was mesmerised for 15 minutes by the amazing skill and technique.
I love watching you use your hand tools. I don't know if it is because they are inherently slower than power tools or it is just because you are a conscientious craftsman, but I am always surprised by some detail in your work which, when I give it a thought, is generally something that needs to be done but I never thought about it. This time it was how you rounded off the edges of the legs of chair and the back of the seat. Thank you for your videos.
I've got to say, using a wrench to turn the right diameter is brilliant....and thinking outside the box... or inside the tool box. I'd have never thought to do that.
The use of mirrors to get the angles right and the rubber bands to measure the length for the leg supports was simply BRILLIANT. I love your videos, I learn something new every time. Keep it up and cheers from the USA.
My friend You never cease to impress me! You’re very humble to say that you’re not one to teach how to make a chair. My humble opinion is that you, as always did a fenomenal job! The chair is beautiful you’ve done a great job. Congratulations. And thanx for sharing.
a class seat for your first you can be proud of this. So you see that if you make enough things, you will naturally improve step by step in making things ....
I made two matching chairs and while it was a ton of work it was very satisfying as well. I wish the design I came up with wasn't so difficult because everyone who saw them wanted them. If I did make more and sell them they wouldn't be cheap!!
Wow, I really learned a lot of useful tricks from this! The mirror trick, the self-made tapering jig, the crossed rubber bands, leveling the feet, determining the length of the spokes... Great stuff!
Very nice work Neil, I wish I had access to a supply of scrap camphor laurel like you do! For a first chair, bloody good, sure there will be many more-to come!
I appreciate you showing how you leveled the chair (cutting the legs). I've seen several which just skip that step (maybe they're just that good, who knows) but the thought of getting it perfect is rather intimidating! Your projects are great! Keep em coming.
That was a pleasure to watch. Good pace with the speeded up footage too, you can see what's happening but you don't feel like you're waiting! Really nice project. And all from 'scrap'!
You don't need to make a chair with power tools - you're a true craftsman, Neil. I have buckets and piles of old off cuts that I should probably throw out, but once I watch one of your Scrapwood Challenges I decide to keep it all!
Nice, I’ve always hesitated to try a chair but after 30 years of sitting on a plywood box in my shop I built myself a proper shop stool with a shaped seat and turned legs and stretchers. It wasn’t as scary as I imagined and like you I could see myself doing more.

"I have no idea how to make a chair"
Goes on to make one of the finest hand-crafted chairs I've seen. 😂
I mean, it’s still rustic. It’s not Chippendale.
No music. Just the sound of a craftsman at work. Bliss. Thank you.
except the jarring intro ofc
My thought exactly.
And that perfect video editing
Tortinwall the sounds of a craftsman at work in his videos are so soothing. And getting to see the progress Of the wood become a chair.
Yeah, fuck music on youtube vids. Especially the same free youtube tracks over and over and over again ...
Great use of rubber bands. I learned something here today. Thanks
Rubber band trick for center was awesome
Best scrapwood challenge yet.
The trick with the two mirrors is very clever and for the first chair, it is a much impressive work.
I really like that your videos are modern but still have traditional wood skills thanks
Thoroughly enjoyable . It can be irritating when people get off the subject , but the kangaroos were a nice touch . I'll be watching this multiple times .
Quick summary of all scrap wood challenges, Pask says he has no idea what he's doing but he'll give it a go anyway, and it turns out great.
Mate, you are one clever bugger. Well done.
Looks amazing Neil!!!! 😁🌲
First time over seen the mirror trick. I really appreciate the simplicity of it.
Your layout lines look like some kind of medieval magic spell.
Skippy Lives! good chair!
So much work involved in this build. This is why a set of 4 chairs costs more then the much larger table that goes with it.
Neil Paskin, the perfect Australian carpenter ever!
Very very nice first chair.
Damn nice chair for a first go. I bet your great grandchildren will enjoy it.
Love the spanner sizing guide 👍
Very nice! Love the mirror tricks - seems like its really accurate too!
Thanks! It really is very accurate! :)
Scrapwood chair.
Nice job.
First chair you say? Damn sir, very impressive.
Also, loved the use of spanners as diameter gauges on the lathe :D
Spanners as gauges is an old, time proven method of checking when vernier calipers and the like were expensive bits of kit.
and the rubber bands as gauges. Very quick thinking.
I sound like a broken record on your videos. Your talent and patience is off the charts.
Thanks very much! :)
This man does in a day with scrap what I couldn't do in months with precut pieces
Love the idea of using mirrors! Was great to see so many different techniques being used too!

Wanderful...! I am an old lady of 66 and you let me long for my dad as I always help him and sit and look what he was doing... beautiful chair...!!
Marvelous work Neil!

Fantastic job on your first chair, scrap wood challange is something every woodworker should do
The rubber band trick was utterly brilliant !
First encounter with such tools, high precision craftsmanship 👍🏼
You sir, are truly a wood magician! That chair is beautiful and the fact that it's made out of scrap wood is simply amazing!
Now that's a fine looking piece of furniture! First chair shows how good your woodworking skills are honed.
thumbs up just for the rubber band trick alone

Thank you! Even though I use both power tools and hand tools I do enjoy the hand tools more! :)
I don't care that it's your first chair, it looks great! Love seeing how you put your thought process into your work.
Lovely chair,I just love your movies. Hope to see many more, thanks.

I've got to say, using a wrench to turn the right diameter is brilliant....and thinking outside the box... or inside the tool box. I'd have never thought to do that.

Gorgeous chair
Great craftsmanship. Your explanations of the process are very informative. Thank you.

The use of mirrors to get the angles right and the rubber bands to measure the length for the leg supports was simply BRILLIANT. I love your videos, I learn something new every time. Keep it up and cheers from the USA.

You make it look so easy. Making a stable, comfortable chair is one of the most challenging woodworking projects. Kudos for a beautiful result.
Well done, Neil. Great design and execution.

And now, you are also a master chairmaker ! Congrats for this superb chair.

One of your better episodes! Well done!
Man! I love the contrast of the humility and result in your videos. Inspiring!
Another winner. Love all aspects of your work and videos.
Marvelous👏👏👏
A fantastic first attempt, it has the look of Ercol about it 👍
All you need to do is build another 5 and a dining table to match. 😀
Awesome, nice chair, thanks to share.
