Tucked away in the quiet streets of Lake Forest outside of Chicago, Shelley's garden acts as an extension of her home. During the summer months, no door is left closed to the bright and vivacious green lawn and dazzling pool. Beaming with personality and elegance, Johnstone has found the perfect mix of high-low to create an escape for her family.

The pink and white chairs brought me into the 1950s. Now just need a tray with gin and tonic.
What kind of trees are those around the table? That create the alley of trees.
They look like Bradford pears or Chanticleer pears.
Beautiful, but definitely not low maintenance. I am a slave to my small yard in central Indiana. Our weather is so awful, and with so many mosquitoes, I don't know why I even bother pretending I have a patio. Can't imagine your climate is much better. Gorgeous space, nonetheless!

She makes it look like she takes care of the garden herself. The reality is that she has to have an army of gardeners taking constant care of it. A garden like that takes a trermendous amount of work. I know.

Just to clarify; when she says 'we love the garden' she's addressing the aliens and referring to the entire population of planet Earth. ;) It's just gorgeous, who wouldn't want to hang out there, entertain there or let the kids run about with their friends in the summer?! The pool house covers inclement weather and evenings, so it's just so beautifully practical in its entirety. Everybody loves it.

Outside of Dallas. Lake Forrest is a very pretentious city. They b.tched about Mr T painting his wooden fences and cutting down some trees on his property
