    I have bought 6 Tiffany watches in the past 16 years and one of the reason I get them is that hardly anyone else wears them. Vintage is best as the prices in the stores a bit steep. My collection includes a Mark Quartz steel, Atlas automatic Gold, Atlas Automatic sterling, Gallery Automatic steel, a white gold Quartz I think the line was called Cordio. And a Gent Coupe Automatic in steel. Currently actually looking at a the CT60 pictured in either steel or rose gold, but 2nd hand at a fraction of the price.

      Tiffany has some great vintage pieces. Recently the brand has had somewhat of a revival. Things are looking up for T&CO. Great point about getting a good discount when buying pre-owned. Lots of great watches out there that go well below retail. Sounds like you have a unique and classic collection!

    I recently purchased the mens Tiffabt and Co. Atlas in silver. Its a nice looking watch that I have always liked. A vintage model with the roman numerals on the bezel. I would never consider buying the full MSRP of $3600 for a quartz watch. I dated a guy years back that had the 18k gold version, Im sure he paid throught the nose for it.

    Jay, I just bought a ANTIQUE FRENCH STERLING SILVER ANCRE 15 RUBIS POCKET WATCH FOR TIFFANY & Co. It is pretty cool to some Tiffany even if it is a watch, but it is sterling. Questions? I can't find out who the maker is? It is a French import from the WWI period. Maybe a Military / Trench / Officers pocket watch. It has a swan hallmark indicating most likely from Switzerland I believe from my research. .800 / 1000 sterling silver. you can find it online on an ebay completed sold page. Do you know if it is really a Pocket Watch by Tiffany & Co from 1916 era Swiss made imported to France. I can't find any similar except the watches that are everywhere in wwII and the small ones in wwi that fit the dial. Thanks for anything!

    • @jaysikes4256
      @jaysikes4256  Před 3 lety

      Hello, Tiffany made pocket watches and the name should be on the dial, the case, and the movement. Tiffany was a jeweler as well as watch maker back in the day. Thus they would make the case and the movement. If it doesn't say Tiffany on all 3, then it would raise some suspicion. Sometimes, people take a Tiffany dial and put it on a watch to make it look more valuable.

      @@jaysikes4256 Thank you Jay. It says "no" on Custom: but I have some suspicion of that. It could have been because of the war they were ordered from Swiss makers, and exported to France because of the Great War??? Please let me know what you think of that possible answer. I will have it checked soon. Thanks again.

      @@jaysikes4256 Also, it is noted that Longines did make them some pocket watches but as you mentioned their name, that is Tiffany, was on case and movement that they made them for Tiffany.

    • @jaysikes4256
      @jaysikes4256  Před 3 lety

      @@ForgivenessIsBest-LiarsDont During wars, various companies contributed to watches. For Tiffany, because they were a clock maker, then watch maker, would have Tiffany on the movement at the minimum. Also, many times pocket watches are assembled from different parts. Sometimes in the past, it was done just to make repairs quickly. Especially during wars.

    Much of what Jay says is in correct. He says Tiffany doesn't make any in-house movements. Wrong. They had their own factory in Geneva. It was bought out by Patek but they still made many movements on watches you can buy today. And 100 years later, they are still quality time pieces. Not only does this guy misprounce a few names, he didn't even do any homework.

    “ lower class... ghetto... less desirable people...” Don’t believe the hype, the majority of luxury goods are created for the very same people that you odiously vilify for the imagined decrease in brand image and value.

      @jaysikes4256  Před 3 lety

      Interesting that you equate me pointing out that luxury brands don't prefer ghetto/lower class wearing their wares with me vilifying them... Either you think I'm a luxury brand representative, or it reveals your true attitude towards ghetto/lower class people. Some people are proud to be ghetto, and wear it as a badge of honour. Thanks for watching, and thanks for commenting.

    • @asiaasia7582

      Ghetto is a slum part of a city inhabited by minorities. So are you saying that fashion powerhouses doesn’t want minorities wearing their product? When you say lower class, are you comparing those to highest class? If so then middle class will be considered lower class; thus considered “ ghetto”.

    I really like anything Tiffany and Co. I compare it to Harry Winston and Cartier. Tiffany and Co., Carier and Harry Winston are all known for diamonds. Tiffany and Co. is an exciting brand. Tiffany and Co. jewelry and watches appreciate in value. Tiffany and Co. watches are handed down from generation to generation. Tiffany and Co. watches are also put in wills and are used as collateral towards loans. I think anyone wearing a Tiffany and Co. watch has great taste.

      Tiffany as a brand has done a lot to repair their image as of late. I'll give them credit. Recently, I visited a store whilst on a work trip. Very lovely items, and very helpful sales staff. I didn't end up buying anything that time, but previously I've gotten cuff links, and other jewelry. You're 100% correct, very lovely items to pass on to future generations.

    I found the way you pronounced the word Cartier quite funny. You obviously attempt to pronounce the word the French would. But I’m not sure that’s how they do pronounce it. It just make you sound quite uneducated. Secondly, I always find it funny that you think it’s wrong for Tiffany to dilute the brand. Actually I think that’s just a clever strategy. One can argue the same about the “ghetto” people clamoring for fake Rolex or Louis Vuitton bags for the low class people. The fact is that Tiffany makes more money from these aspirational items than anything else they got in the store. They could easily make their items super pricey like Harry Winston. But that’s not their marketing strategy.
