    Best advice I can give is just stick to making your own lines. It’s more cost effective and the end result is much nicer. 👍

    Your video just popped up on my recommended. I always briefly hit my copper crush washers with the handheld map gas torch and warm them up slightly before installing them and tighten them down hot. Helps them seal better. I have had them not seal on banjo bolts as well as other types of fittings many times when I don’t do that so I have just made it habit to heat them first every time. Never had one leak after that. Hope this helps!

      This is a great tip. I’ve had several other people that also reached out and said I should anneal the copper crush washers. I’ll definitely keep that trick in mind for future projects!

    Mine would work great I’ve I had 90 degree hoses but they sent everything with straight fittings. It goes directly into my coilover .

    I just had the same problem with that kit. I just ordered banjos with-4an fitting. They should come with those instead. Thanks for backing up my same issue with that kit. 👍🏼

      @BadLuckGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      Banjo fittings are a great idea! Unfortunately I’m not happy with the way this kit lays out either so I’ll most likely just use the short soft lines that came with the brakes and do hardlines soon and be done with it.

    • @edtillrockiii3670
      @edtillrockiii3670 Před 2 lety

      The banjos worked. But I agree with you! I’m going to change mine also like you are.

    You do have bad luck. I ordered pretty much the same setup minus back brace. Hopefully my parts are right. They did send my center section to my neighbor... Luckily I was outside and caught him. They sent it twice also so they said.

    I used Russell 692100 front and rear brake like kit that way I could mount it to the frame with Russell 640301 an adapters with the two 2 longer lines that bolt to the calibers

    The adapter fittings for the rear are still an issue, FYI.

    Little trick when your doing brake lines push the brake pedal down about a inch or so and it will not leak fluid while your replacing the lines

    Same problem here with those fittings that go into the caliper

  • @justincrocker6098
    @justincrocker6098 Před 2 lety

    If you only knew how excited I was to see someone struggle with the exact same problems as me... It lets me know I'm not crazy! Same QP brake kit and everything.
    So, you can actually find that M12 to AN4 adapter on ebay. I bought both the M12 and M10 adapter to AN4 because I know my luck. I ended up using the replacement Oreily's rubber brake line (BH38180) with the M10 to AN4 adapters attached to the junction. It works, but it looks pretty rigged.
    After that debacle, I realized that the QP braided lines were too short to reach both calipers (regardless of how it attached to the existing brake line). Thus, I wasted even more money on a longer AN4 hose.
    After all that, I still do not know how well these brakes work because I haven’t figured out how to address the 82’-84’ disc/drum cast iron proportioning valve. All the aftermarket valves bolt on in a different orientation and take non-metric brake fittings. That’s a problem when you can’t flare a brake line to save your life.
    And since you brought it up, I guess I need to check and see if the brake line connections at the calipers are leaking. $20 bucks says they are.

      @justincrocker6098 Před 2 lety

      To add to this, The M12 adapter and QP brake line kit would work too (assuming the lengths are correct). I went with the M10 because it shipped quicker.

      @BadLuckGarage  Před 2 lety

      @@justincrocker6098 Man I searched all over ebay and couldn’t find a female m12 to an4 adapter…..only males. But I’m the end I needed the little bit of extra length on the main line for the short piece of line and adapter I used worked perfectly. I’m still not impressed with the way this kit lays out in the end though and plane to switch to hard lines in the near future.

    Anneal the copper washer, before using. Softens it up to conform better. ;)

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you I’ll try that! I think the root issue is these fittings aren’t meant to seal with a crush washer. They don’t have a wide enough shoulder for it.
