- This handheld vacuum(Black and decker pivot lithium 18v) had power on failure. It could charge but it couldn't start working. After a replacement of the thermal fuse. It works properly. See the step by step video instructions.

Yes, if Stanley B&D sold a spare battery, even at a hefty profit, I would have sticked with this handheld. Instead, we replaced it with a Bosch that has an external interchangeable battery, for only a few bucks more.

@@kevindolan8274 Not really - It doesn't seem to draw much current, the battery lasts a very long time. Maybe Bosch has balanced battery life with drain more effctively.

Thanks for sharing. My pivot's batteries don't last more than 10-20 seconds any more. I have got a battery spot welder but haven't disassembled a Li-Ion battery pack before. I need to learn how to remove the welded cells safely.

Great video. But I have a request. From what you have seen can you recommend the best way to wire in a charging plug rather than using the dock? We carry this in our van and it jiggles out of the dock plus the dock is just too large. Would like to put in a Port that would charge off a transformer with a plug connection. USB charge would be even better. Thanks for any help.

Thank you for finding that video helpful. Regarding the battery replacement. You can do the following: 1) Purchase a battery pack, here: service.blackanddecker.gr/BD/GR/el-GR/AgentLocator/SearchAgentLocators or at eBay. 2) Rebuild the existing battery pack(at your own risk). Which means, you could purchase the batteries individually (the cells) and soldering them yourself (If you don't know how, contact and electronics shop/technician for assistance). Be especially careful with lithium-ion batteries as there is a risk of leakage/explosion.
Do you know what it means if the blue light on the charging station just continually flashes blue but the vacuum won't power on
When is charging, the led flashes. When it is fully chargeg, the led stop flashing. Did you measure the battery to see if it has voltage ?
Hello Valantis from Spain! thanks you for the video BUT I can´t find the thermal fuse.In my vacuum don´t exists. Can you help me? do you want a photo of my vacuum´s electrical circuit?
On mine there is no fuse either. Maybe a different revision and they moved it out of the battery housing and into the body of the vacuum? FWIW on the bottom of the housing on mine it says 2017 10-BM 006.
Is there a way to determine if the charger base is bad? Could there be a bad fuse in it somewhere? It appears to start charging the vacuum when I plug it in, but after a few seconds the light cuts off and it is no longer charging. I've tried different outlets. The charger base is what appears to stop doing it's thing. But how do I know if that means the battery in the vacuum is bad? Seems like it's the charger base.
The problem you described is similar to the one I solved by replacing the thermistor. When you plug the vacuum to the charger is starting to charge it (flashing led) but it stops as the battery is charged. You can't then use the vacuum because power is not passing through the thermistor to the motor. Check the voltage of the battery pack to confirm (should have 4.2v)

Our was intermittent briefly, and now won't charge or start. I checked the charger and it's supplying current. Ideas? It's just dead. Would the fuse prevent it from charging and starting?

my battery is fine but shuts off every few minutes i suspect thermal fuse but dont have one like yours 2018 model....maybe its one the board?

Thanks for sharing the video, I have several of these vacuum cleaners one of them this fuse opened, it had no markings on it so I just removed the fuse and connected the two wires two years ago now battery won't hold a charge. Will replace the batteries or the bad one(s) as time permits...

Βαλάντη, εξαιρετικό βίντεο, φοβόμουν να λύσω το σκουπάκι αλλά τελικά ήταν εύκολο. Όμως εμένα το πρόβλημά μου είναι ότι το μοτέρ έχει τραβήξει μέσα τρίχες και δεν γυρίζει. Έχω λύσει τον γκρίζο δακτύλιο, έχω ανοίξει τα πλαστικά και έχω φτάσει στο μοτέρ, αλλά δεν έχω πρόσβαση μέσα από τις άσπρες γρίλιες, και εκεί είναι που έχει μαζευτεί η τρίχα (έχει τυλιχτεί γύρω από τον άξονα). Από την από κάτω μεριά, υπάρχει ένας μαύρος δίσκος που είναι συνδεδεμένος με τον άξονα, και δεν ξέρω πως μπορώ να τον χωρίσω από το μοτέρ για να έχω πρόσβαση στο θάλαμο που είναι μέσα στις άσπρες γρίλιες. Καμία ιδέα.
English: Valantis, excellent video. I wasn't too keen to open the device but thanks to you it turned out quite easy. But my problem lies elsewhere. The motor has collected hair which is wrapped around the axle and it doesn't spin. I've removed the big gray ring, opened the plastic cover and reached the motor, but I can't accesss the chamber under the motor. On the underside there is a black disk connected to the axle, and I don't know how to detach it from the motor in order to have access to the chamber underneath, where the hair is. Any ideas?

Hi, sorry for the delayed response. It sounds like an electronics issue. It needs to be checked by a technician. What component could have fail is hard to say.
I have the same issue. It turns powers on for about 30 secs then shuts down. The more you turn on/off the less time it stays powered on. e.g 10 secs

Any idea exactly what model and size those batteries are? I have the exact same model as you - But the only batteries I can find say "Battery Pack For Black Decker Pivot Dustbuster 18V" - and cost about $60.

There must be 5 standard 18650 Li-ion batteries inside. I'm going to order those and replace with soldering

@@roamingnick Yep, 5 18650 batteries fit nicely. They come with metal stripes attached, so no wires needed. The hardest part was to push the new batteries into plastic slots, make sure there's no glue or stickers on them.
Worth taking a picture of original battery connections from both sides before you begin

I don't know if something have changed on product's design. If nothing changed, it could be a refurbished product and those products are being sold like refurbished.

Περισσότερες μπαταρίες (cells) δεν μπορεί να πάρει. Μπαταρίες με Περισσότερα mAh, γίνετε, έτσι θα αυξηθεί κάπως η αυτονομία

@@nchatzoglou αν θυμάμαι καλά παίρνει τον τύπο μπαταρίας 18650(δεν είμαι 100% σίγουρος). Εφόσον χρησιμοποιήσετε τον ίδιο τύπο σε περισσοτε μιλιαμπερ λογικά δεν υπάρχει θέμα(γενικα). Δεν έχω δοκιμάσει κάτι συγκεκριμένο για να προτείνω. Κάποιο έξτρα ανταλλακτικό δεν απαιτείται

wo bekomme ich diesen Deckel her denn ist bei mir kaputt. Außerdem leuchtet die rote Led nicht mehr. Die finde ich auch nicht auf der Platine?
Teile kann man im eBay finden oder in Laden die Haushaltsteile verkaufen, keine Ahnung. Da die Licht nicht leuchtet, kann vieles sein(Elektroniker soll die Platine kontrollieren).
Wo ist die Led auf der Platine? Ich sehe sie nicht bei mir.

Καλησπερα.εχω ακριβως το ιδιο αλλα απο οτι φαινεται η πλακετα διαφερει γιατι δεν υπαρχει η ασφαλεια.ειναι μονο πλακετα.το προβλημα μου ειναι το εξης.μετα απο προσφατη αλλαγη μπαταριων το σκουπακι δουλεψε για καμια εβδομαδα και τωρα το βαζω να φορτισει,αναβοσβηνει το λαμπακι κανονικα και μετα απο 3-5 λεπτα προφανως σταματαει την φορτισει και αναβοσβηνει το λαμπακι πολυ γρηγορα.ο φορτιστης δουλευει σωστα.ακομα και αν εχω αποσυνδεμενο το μοτερ συμπεριφερεται το ιδιο.μηπως γνωριζεις αν επισκευαζεται ή που μπορω να βρω πλακετα?Ευχαριστω!!!
Για ανταλλακτικά και πιο συγκεκριμένα πλακέτα μόνο το eBay μπορώ να σκεφτώ. Ένας ηλεκτρονικός πιστεύω θα μπορούσε να σας βοηθήσει με την υπάρχουσα πλακέτα.

Με αναζήτηση για battery pack για το συγκεκριμένο μοντέλο στο ebay
Ανακατασκευαζοντας το υπάρχον battery pack. Δηλαδή να πάρετε τις μπαταρίες μεμονωμένα (να αγοράσετε τα cells) και να τις κολλήσετε ο ίδιος. Αν γνωρίζετε το κάνετε ο ίδιος. Σε άλλη περίπτωση με την βοήθεια ηλεκτρονικού.
Με τις μπαταρίες ιόντων λιθίου να είστε ιδιαίτερα προσεκτικός καθώς υπάρχει κίνδυνος ανάφλεξης/έκρηξης.
