Bravo đ nice to see some of the original band ! Make me cry đą memories đđŒ
Just like 1969 fabulous!!!
This melody so original and l like to listen
Michael Shreive is still amazing!
Que viva santana
I was lucky enough to see Santana at Woodstock in '69 and was at the very front fence barrier. The 2 percussionists were directly in front of me. On the film I look like I'm 20 feet from them but the film camera used a very wide angle lense. In reality they were 6 feet from me. Santana's music was so good and being so close to it, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. One of the best experiences of my life.
đź
Impressive!! Crazy !
Mike Shrieve was 19 years old at Woodstock and blew everyone off the stage. This is rock at its best.

Mike Shreve is one of the best drummers I've ever heard. He deserves much more recognition then he has. His drumming was just explosive and dynamic and soul moving....
@@christinehammons4467 "WAS" He mellowed out, that's unfortunate. His age has nothing to do with it
@@m42037 unfortunately you are right. I've watched some performances of his in the last 10 years and he lost that explosiveness that I love so much. But I still will always remember him at his Peak around 1970. At that time he was one of the world's best drummers. His style reminds me of Mitch Mitchell's from Jimi Hendrix! and what beautiful form he played with using traditional grip
@@christinehammons4467 Idk what happened to him. As i said age doesn't do much unless you have arthritis or something. Buddy Rich played explosive into his 70s before he died. Take a look at Carl Palmer, he's still fantastic after 50 years!
Michael Shrieve - still a monster.
Michael Shrieve reprising his brilliant performance at Woodstock as a 20 year old!
When Gregg Rolie is smiling - You know everything is right in this world. Wish I could have been there.
Rolie is a monster of a player and as you have astutely observed his smile betrays the bands mood and his own pat on the back for himself. Take a look at Woodstock at the end of S Sacrifice.. awesome .
Thats not him. He left the band ages ago an joined Journey where he became more popular an successful
Yep, I know , he and Schon left after Caravansersai late 72...but hook up for reunions such as these which is great to see. Rolie has some good solo projects too.
ââââ@@daviddigital6887Of course it is Gregg Rolie playing the keyboard, just 50 years older, and Michael Shrieve on drums. (Read the description of the video)
What a great joy the original group gather again fifty years after ...Michael Schrieve Greg Rolie
Omg......Mike Shrieve. I don't know what else to say.
Mike Shrieve made history with the woodstock performance. One of the best drum performances live ever!!!
Michael Shrieve is out of this world
It's sad ... Nobody mentioned Marcus"The magnificent" Malone...he was the original Congo player...who Played first..it's his tune
He was homeless when Carlos Santana paid him a visit
good to see Micheal on drums...
AGREED! Superb drummer!
Mike Shrieve still has the same expression as when he played at Woodstock. Almost 50 years later.
agreed and also Greg Rollie same expressions
Bless him baby face still got it awsome â€â€đ
Yo tenĂa Âč3 años me encantan
So cute,love those expressions đâ€â€
Michael Shrieve OMG just kills it as in 1969!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Didn't care much for Carlos lead parts.
The only Soul Sacrifice is with Michael Shrieve on the drums, unmatched.
That is Michael Shrieve
And that is who is playing them here.
Shrieve and Gregg Rollie are still a pair of badass. still listening 50 yrs later. Jan, 2021
Hell yeah brother !!
@@chicknstripz2596 good to know there still doing it may it live on!

Michael Shrieve is a Titan!
Rollie and Shrieve.....how does Mr.Santana carry these legends for fifty plus years!
53 years since Woodstock and Mike has still got it !!!!!!!!!!!!
Still magic and still the Mike Shrieve show. The great survivors still having fun!
great to see 3 of the originals together again. sure missed Chepito
Miss Chepito too
NOW THIS IS SANTANA
Carlos, Shrieve, Schon, & Rolie !!!!!!!!!!!!
Micheal Shrieve .A hard drummer.Toal legend.
Michael Shrieve, fab drum solo!
Michael Freaking Shrieve.........................Bravo, after 50 years.
The best Latin rock music ever played in this planet
After all this year they still got it! The drummer still makes soul magic like he did in Woodstock!
I had the privilege of seeing Santana play 40 years ago for the first time and up close as I had great seating close to the stage I remember mike Shrieve on drums that night I can only say apart from the fantastic raw sound of the band mike was the driving force his playing was absolutely superb speed technique and creativity was such that at times it was hard to understand what he was doing behind the drums it was magical and just hearing the drums congas percussion all going of at once was mind blowing in itself I can see why mike Shrieve was voted as one of the best top 100 drummers of all time .
As a young drummer, a huge Michael Shrieve fan, and someone with find memories of Woodstock, this concert would have been amazing. Bringing back the band, indeed!
No one can touch Michael Shrieve...the Best, WoW!
They caught lightning in a bottle a Woodstock. That performance will never be equaled. It is possibly the best live performance EVER.
The following year at Tanglewood was just as good if not better IMO
@@pumpkinking5174 agreed. I love Woodstock but damn, tanglewood gets me groovin too.
@@pumpkinking5174 I've never seen the Tanglewood performance, is it on CZcams?
This is not drumming...this is poetry..time has failed to tire shreive's hands and his sublime skill.45 years has turned shrieve untouchable..he is 'the drummer" amongst all drummers.
I remember that 20 year old kid, drummer, Michael Shrieve, saw him at Woodstock in '69. Still thumping, away!
Were you just reminded of it on reddit 20 hours ago? ;)
He graduated from my High School just before I started St. Francis/Holy Cross, Mountain View, CA. EVERYONE talked about how cool he was!
SO GREAT TO SEE YOU ALL TOGEHTER AGAIN!
The most incredible Latin rock music ever played in this planet
Si, marcĂł un hito en la historia de la mĂșsica rock !
Have you seen Tito Puente?
Michael Shrive đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„
50 years, Mike!
It has to be said, Michael Shrieve is a very underrated drummer. He never lost his touch.
No he has'nt not 1 bit!
He is still great, another overlooked survivor like Carl Palmer, young at the time of fame and both still slapping them today đđđâïž
Michael still had it for this performance, talent just keeps going đđđâïžâïžâïž
Mike Shrieve was a transfer to my small ( 400 students) Santa Clara Valley high school back in '66 or '67. He was neither an athelete nor a scholar, so he was not a noticeable person on campus. Then, one day later in the school year, an announcement was made over the school's PA system, that there was to be s short music program on the school's quad during lunch time. Mike played a couple of drum solos during that program. Needless to say, virtually everyone in school knew who he was by the time lunch was over.đđđ
Michael Shrieve is still so fkn awesome - I could watch him for hours....one of the very best drummers in history
I'd love to attend a drumming clinic w Shrieve hosting it. Would be badass
Michael Shrieve is the Man that made Santana famous in 1969... YES!
Ahh. It IS him! Woodstock!
Yes that`s right grandious woodstock sensation 1969, Michael Shrieve was 17 Years old great .
One hand keyboard solos blew me away.
The first and the best drummer of Santana.
Classic Santana.. I remember dancing to this back in the day... wow... A man that changed the face of music and what a time stamp to our lives back then. Wow... Never heard anything like this ever... he was in a league of his own. Malo.. Santana...
The kid can still play the hell out of those drums. One of the best drummers ever. This performance at Woodstock was the best of all the great performances over those few summer days.
The drummer doesnât miss a beat,,even after all these yearsâŠ
Mike you rock them drums just like you did at Woodstock.đŽ
Man has to take back so much memories for Mike being the coolest humblest 19yr old who actually played Woodstock and brought the house down absolutely the whole band high on LSD and even now they still got it!! Agree to agree concur to the fullestâ€âĄââ§
All these guys still together after so many years and no bickering. All talented musicians. No egos
Many musicians have come and gone from the Santana band over the years....huge egos....especially Carlos.....the original members were after Carlos to make this reunion album....for years.
Ego is necessary to be
What ' s fantastic's solo with Drums from MIchael Shrieve..!
beautiful drum solo
Michael Shrieve on drums - YES!!!!!!!
Monster!
Damn, but it's good seeing Carlos, Michael on drums, and the organist and congo player from Woodstock again after 50 years. God is good, man, and its creation music a healing for the planet.
And it's been 50 years. Wow!
More than 52 years. 0âŠ. 1
Iâm in Heaven when I hear this.
Peace âźïž and Love â€ïž
Michael Shrieve! Still a legend đđđđ
Michael Shrieveâs solo at Woodstock is still one of the greatest drum solos of all times for a lot reasons, including his age and the circumstances the band were playing under. Still sounding great here though.
He always plays great ; a master of his craft !
Michael Shrieve is a real monster.
A lot of "star" drummers of today would have liked to be as impeccable as Michael Shrieve is, close to his seventies. Respect, sir.
Shrieve still has it going on,,,damn, he owns those drums...
Baddest drummer I ever saw
Yup, he pretty much IS the santana sound. Along w all the originals. He pretty much just made the drums as an extension of his arms lol
I'm old enough to remember Woodstock. I've been listening to Carlos for a good while. I don't care who you are, the opening of this tune will grab ya!
Damn right. I'm only 34 years old and this has to be one of my favorite songs. Tanglewood performance is my favorite. My parents were only 10 years old at the time haha. God what an amazing performance.
It will always grab you!!! The band was magnificent then; now !!!
Watching their Woodstock performance and then immediately after watching this is a great schock. Starting from the audience. I mean, back there in 69, everybody not only listened to the song. They felt and lived it. Nowadays, the poor things hold their smartphones like zombies, unaware of what's really going on, just for the sake of proving to somebody they were there. "And what was it like?" "I held my smartphone like an idiot from the beginning to end. Period."
Exactly. Like going to one of the great wonders of the world and taking a fvcking selfie!!! Morons all of them.
Absolutely spot on.
Greg Rollie and Mike Shrieve. The original members of SANTANA. together with Carlos Santana. Wow it's incredible!!! What a wonderful times!
Damn, that IS Mike Shrieve!
This is music history in the making. đ
Santana after many years reunites the original band- and it is as if no time has passed.
The ecstatic energy once again flows unhindered.
The marriage of Afro-Cuban rhythms and percussion to blues based rock and jazz.
With Carlos guitar front and center, sending beautiful melodies and dynamic statements as love letters to the universe.
Greggs wonderful organ sounds soothing the soul.
Michael Shrieve and all of you, we love you forever- eternally. đ
All time favorite drum solos.
Is it just me or does Carlos feel more comfortable and loose here than on his regular solo tours/shows?. He's on fire here, playing feels more fluid, maybe its because its some of the original band that he's playing with here.? Oh and Shrieve's still got it-badass !!
I thought the same! Quite enjoyed the looseness though, reminded me of the woodstock preformance.
His current wife has loosen him up! Lol
Happy Birthday Gregg Rolie!
Michael Shrieve, what a treat!!! So great!!
Heâs not holding the sticks the same way he did at Woodstock. Still a great drummer but the older style looked cooler.
Michael shrieve still my fave drummer since woodstock going strong love u michael from philippines.đđâïžâ€ïžđ”đ
Michael Shrieve has still got it.... great track !!
Even at 66 years old (at the time this was shot in 2016), he still had it.
70 years old and they are still great!
Always been such a good drummer Michael shreve
My favorite guitarist with some of the original members, it doesnât get any better than that, SANTANA ROKS.
Michael Shrieve, impresionante e increĂble como siempre....
the drummer is a beast
Always has been !!!!
Shrieve is still as good as he was at Woodstock in 1969. Amazing!!!
Mike Shrieve to me is the perfect drummer. Perfect timing, not aggressive and clean as a whistle â€
Excelente baterista Michael Shrieve!
Although I wasn't there, after watching this I found myself screaming for more! And Micheal Shrieve...wow!
I had a very good jam with Mike Shrieve in golden Gate park in the summer of 1978 , we had lot's of fun
lucky guy. I only saw Santana with Graham Lear, not my favorite drummer.
One thing I've always appreciated about Santana's music is the use of the and unmistakable sound of the Hammond organ. Always takes me back to the sixties when this was such a big part of our growing up. If a local group was any good at all they had to have a Hammond.
Mike you are a champian amongst champion veteran master musician. You've still got it. Still that babe only matured. You guys were my. First rock n roll favorets.
BACK TO EARLY 1971 - 1972 NEVER FORGET .....S A N T A N A. BEST OF THE BEST
Magic drummer !
Benny Rietveld is currently the bass player for Carlos Santana, and has been with him for over 25 years. Raise on Oahu.. Went to McKinley High School and U of Hawaii.. We are very proud of Benny.. Please enjoy a fantastic bass player and true Hawaiian..
Original members and the sound santana thanks Woodstock 1969
Yes indeed. Heâs great.
that song rocked at Woodstock ... I can still remember that conga and the drummer Mike Schrive, what a blast !
Michael Shrieve the Best drummer of that time.
Saturday in the park chicago
Super Great Drum Solo Michael Shrieve !
John Corsaro , it is the original drummer of Woodstock
Fantastic! And great to see Gregg Rolie on stage too. :)
A drummers paradise! Wonderful!
Shrieve still kills it
The best musician in this lineup is absolutely Mike Shrieve... Not for the solo but technically is the best in this lineup...
*The soul is timeless only the body ages & it shows!*

Micheal Shrieve!!! and percussion section!!! Still gives me goose bumps 53 years later!!!!!!
