  • I just upgraded my 2015 Porsche 911, 991.1 generation, from the base factory Porsche exhaust to the Soul Performance Valved Exhaust. We took my Porsche 911 out for a ride and filmed how much better the Soul Performance Valved Exhaust sounds! Tell me what you think in the comments section below!
    When I was researching exhaust modifications on my 2015 Porsche 911 I came across many different companies such as Fabspeed, Tubi, Sharkwerks, Akrapovic, Armytrix etc... but none of them had the ability to be valved or if they did your 911 had to be equipped with the PSE (Porsche Sports Exhaust) which has the various vacuum lines from the factory. Soul Performance was the only company filling this niche of Porsche 911's with the conversion vacuum lines and control module kit.
    Soul Performance also has a 100% fitment guarantee and a lifetime warranty on their product. I'm not sponsored by them but check out the link to their website and support an amazing company. Their customer service is 100% top notch! Thanks to Mike, at Soul Performance, he made my decision very easy! soulpp.com/

    Personally, I'm not a big fan of the pops and crackles, but they seem quite restrained here. Anyway, the tone of the new exhaust is a very significant improvement over the stock exhaust. This sounds really rather good, not least as this is the base 3.4 engine that is quieter and more muted than the 3.8. IMO, this is a nice upgrade. Hope you are still enjoying this car!

    • @capitalexotics
      @capitalexotics  Před 2 lety

      Absolutely agree with your comment, and thoroughly still enjoying the the car! At the time the S model was impossible to get, so that’s what I really wanted.
      This was a good entry into the Porsche world. Next move will probably be a Turbo S. Can’t wait…
      The best part of this car is the last gen NA engine and the 7 speed manual.

      @@capitalexotics The 3.4 is probably the better option with the manual. Can rev it out more with less likelihood of being super illegal. Am currently thinking of a Turbo S myself. Good fortune.

      Good fortune to you too! I can’t wait to see it if you get one - post a video on your channel.
      That’s true, naturally aspirated works best at high revs, it’s sweet spot, so good point! The 3.8L will have you breaking the law before even getting into the sweet zone. Essentially in second gear I’m already at 120 at 6,800rpm getting on the highway. I like your perspective, we always want more HP but at some point it actually hurts the overall drive!

    nice video. Consider the SoulPP long pipe header with high flow cats that truly make a difference in performance as well as sound. Love the linear torque difference with these headers. Then go one step further and do an ECU flash with CobbTune and maybe a custom tune on top. I did both and can't say enough about the difference - sound and performance. Take a look at the DSC Sport PASM plug and play replacement unit for your stock PASM. Rock stable in sport mode on turns.

    Love your videos.i have been shopping for new exhaust for my 991.1 Base Carrera Cabrio. I think I am leaning toward the Soul Performance exhaust at this time. I had a questions for you... Have you changed anything with the wheels/tires/suspension..... I ask because I have the same Carrera Classic Wheels on my 911, but yours wheels seem to fill out the wheel well better. Can you share your tire size with me? Also, do you have PASM, as my vehicle does not, and I am wondering if maybe that is the difference in why yours seems to sit a little lower. Great videos, thanks.

    • @capitalexotics
      @capitalexotics  Před 3 lety

      Hey Aldo, I have not done anything to my tires or suspension - however, they are the upgraded 20” rims (stock is 19”). I’ll have to head out later today to get the exact size for you, check back later. I do not have PASM. Most of the options are for aesthetic purposes, PDLS, interior leather package, sunroof etc...
      Thanks for the comment and keep in touch when you upgrade, I’d love to see what you end up choosing.

      @capitalexotics  Před 3 lety +2

      Cost about $3,500 USD, definitely louder side by side compared to the Porsche PSE with Valved open in a side by side, closed it’s also slightly louder but has the same general resonance/Porsche sound which is really nice!

    Does your vehicle have any other upgrades aside from the exhaust? Are the Cats or headers replaced on your vehicle? I am trying to see if your vehicle is exactly what mine would sound like as we are equipped pretty similarly and mine is bone stock at the moment. Great Videos man... keep them coming. I think I am going Soul Performance based on your videos.

    • @capitalexotics
      @capitalexotics  Před 3 lety

      Thanks for the questions! Car is totally bone stock besides the Valved Soul Exhaust. The Soul system uses the stock mufflers and the cats are on the original headers. So, this is the pure swap between stock base factory exhaust to the Soul Valved system.
      I know exactly what you’re going through, that’s why I wanted to make these videos - most of the exhaust swap 991.1’s are S models or higher and are often paired with high flow cats or headers (talk about a $10,000+ swap). I couldn’t really find any stock 911 c2’s that were being modified, or if I did, the video quality was pretty poor or very short clips. I’m glad this video helped you out, or others in the 911 club, looking to potentially upgrade.
      I keep documenting my journey with the 911 and glad you enjoyed! Please like and subscribe to keep up with more. Thanks Aldo!

    • @capitalexotics
      @capitalexotics  Před 3 lety +1

      Thanks Aldo! I have to admit, every time I’m driving it, I can’t believe it sounds so amazing! I have a friend that’s a metal fabricator and top mechanic (works on all types of exotics/local McLaren racing team), so it was a deal to get it installed. Porsche estimated about $1,000 for the install (but I’d seriously just find a great aftermarket installer to do it and avoid the Porsche dealership tax). You can also get it installed with the PSE exhaust button in the centre console too - but that requires a total replacement of the centre console part - Porsche can do it though. Check out my buddy James’ channel AutoAmateur - he did it and his channel is great!
      Instead of getting it connected to the OEM PSE button (because mine and yours don’t come with it) I actually just went out today to connect the valve open and closed button to the garage door opener buttons - so now my middle garage door button closes the valves and my third button opens the valves. I should have done it months ago, now I don’t need the keychain fob messing up the “clean” look of the car.
      Also, the exhaust defaults to open valves so you always get a loud start up! 🤪🤪🤪 - James from AutoAmateur also just upgraded his 991.1 with the Soul Performance headers. He has a good comparison video, I don’t notice much of a difference in sound but apparently the performance increase is noticeable.
      Talk soon Aldo! Keep me updated! Make a video for your channel when it’s all done!

      Capital Exotics, place my order with Soul yesterday. Will let you know when it’s all installed and will post some videos. Question about the car always starting in a “valved open” position. Will the cables close with the key in the accessory position? Meaning if I turn the key to the first click, can I close the valves using the cars accessory battery power? Can the valves be operated with just the car battery on or does the ignition have to be all the way on with the engine running for the valves to work? I am wondering this to see if I will be able to close the valves for early morning cold starts without it waking the kids for my early Sunday morning joy rides.

    • @capitalexotics
      @capitalexotics  Před 3 lety

      Congrats Aldo! Glad this video helped you solidify your purchase! In regards to the valves, they’re not cables but rather vacuum - so, to answer your question, the car will always start with valves open as it requires suction to close the valves.
      In fact, if you shut the car off with the valves closed and wait about a minute or so, the vacuum will lose pressure and you’ll actually hear the metal valves open. (Open is the natural resting position of the valves)
      All, you’d do is get the initial ignition/start up and immediately hit the close valve button (program them into your home link garage door buttons for the cleaner look - it’s super easy) and you’ll have essentially the pre Soul cold start level of sound.
      Moreover, my installer said the instructions sent to me by Soul were actually ones for a 991.1 with the PSE - so he said he had to make work arounds to tap into the vacuum lines and get it working. I don’t actually know, but it’s not a quick easy install, it takes a competent person, so choose your installer well. My guy also swapped out the bright blue vacuum lines they provided and gave me black racing level lines, basically installed it so that it looks completely stock underneath - he did not like the bright blue vacuum lines they provided - but he’s very obsessive about his work.
      Can’t wait to see your videos!

      Hey PFYT88, it’s just my weekend car - it’s definitely more than enough, especially in the 7 speed manual.
      This is the last gen (991.1) NA flat 6 engine up to 2016. Only thing I’d make sure I have, is the PSE (unless you want to go aftermarket like I did), base exhaust is not beast enough for what the car can do/be.

    @frankesposito5817 Před 3 lety +1

    Did you wire it into the center consul factory button? thinking about doing the same mod and was wonder how hard it would be to wire it like factory valved exhaust.

    • @capitalexotics
      @capitalexotics  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Frank, I didn’t not wire it into the center console. From what I was told by Soul you can program the open and closed buttons on the keychain to the garage door buttons - which looks clean enough for me... although it’s a painful process just to get my garage door opener working, so I haven’t tried it yet.
      I do know you can wire it up to your center console though, but it requires a new module if your car is not equipped with the PSE button. My car did not have the PSE button therefore I’d have to get the new module. It’s apparently about a $1,000 job at the Porsche dealership. Here’s a video of my buddy James and his channel AutoAmateur where he speaks about the process a little bit. Check it out: czcams.com/video/yLIAtk_XLcc/video.html
      I hope this helps! Keep me updated on what you choose in the future! I’d be great to get an in depth video of the process of changing the center console.

      Thanks, yeah, the only criticism of the 911 is the stock exhaust is very quiet. Maybe it’s geared for a more sophisticated person… lol. The SOUL upgrade is exactly what it needed, now it’s a neck breaker going down the road and since it’s Valved, it can be tamed to essentially stock sound with the click of a button - which is also programmable in the 3 garage door button program. Works perfectly and really amps up what this 911 should be!
