I quite like that different people give different names to the buildings. One person I watched called them factories, another person says theaters, or warehouses- I call them stores and malls. It’s fun that people have unique names
I appreciate that you just get right into the content. i also like when you refer to the destination buildings "going circular' - reminds me of "going nuclear" like its about to blow up haha
You made this look so effortless!!!I definitely struggle with changing roads and the “master” plan that I’ve created in my head, but now I see it works. Great video! Amazing score!!
Fantastic job! It's a lot like surgery in a way: "Doctor, this destination needs 6 CCs of cyan cars stat!" "I'll use this motorway to perform a triple bypass!"
feel like traffic lights at that super late and congested stage are crucial. defs could have put them on the red yellow bottom left. also hope you having fun in lockdown - fellow Aussie from Melbourne
I feel that based on the nature of the specific drivers and building connections this game should be mini mail motorways or something. It's more like shipping routes that a driver might take for a specific business to a particular area than the roadways in a town. Obviously though it doesnt need to be perfectly accurate to be fun still
Yeah I agree, I feel like the way the routing mechanics are design, it is more akin to e.g. package routing using conveyor-belt / assembly lines inside a factory. But I completely understand their decision to market it as mini motorways, this is much more appealing (to the imagination) to people in general I think.
I like to think of each color being different stores, a couple grocery, a couple clothing ect. It is odd that you can leave some houses disconnected. But having to manage supply to each house and store supply might make the game more complicated than they wanted it to be.
After studying road hierarchy and reading through urban design articles, I have bother found a new interest and also a new hatred of Manila. I’m so close to 2000…
Just started playing this week and my highest score is 886 😢. I have a target of 1000 by the end of the week lol. Thanks for this, it’s me me realise quite a lot of things o was doing wrong 👍.
5:48 - you can rearrange the bridge for the yellows by moving the bridge to the other side of the riverside house, and the would enable you to connect all of that suburb.
I realized how the map getting exapanded today, while skipping videos first minutes. I never noticed it before. It's cool how it's gradually increasing the size of the map. I thought it's updating by every week.
11:00 imo you could have had dark blue running along Hwy 1 and connect the reds on the right with the dark blue Lv1 destination [In General] You could have had the path that yellow takes around the red destination at top loop around the upper end in order to keep the two from crossing paths, but that didnt really ever become a big deal 28:58 you now had two red spawns that you could hook up to where you put the south end of hwy 4, and then the light blue path could use a bridge to snake over the bit of water by the sw green lv2 destination [you could have reclaimed the bridge that you had connected to the northernmost red destination to those yellow homes in the middle-left of the map] nm you took the bridge back at 31:08
imagine an edit of this video where all the game pauses are cut out, so the cars never stop moving. That might be even more satisfying to watch- nonetheless cool video and commentary
Since 4 way connections are so poor, I wonder if making roads with two 3 way intersections can add any extra efficiency, so that the road looks somewhat Z shaped. The context for this is some of the roads have 1 off houses that are blocked off by other colored roads might be able to lend just a little bit of extra capacity into the system, though efficiency might suffer long term from it. I do enjoy how this game always has a definite ending. The developers intended for the game to end around 10-20 minutes, but the communities problem solving has been able to stretch it out as much as possible. And to add onto that, I think you solved this level more or less as much as it could be. Wuselfaktor was strong
At houses, joining many to 1 road works as they are starting from rest and dests stagger demand. Similarly a Y near journey start doesn't clog, the cars will follow on a road with one slightly delayed. But if a queue tails back blocking another junction, it's not 1 car slowed but every car with much reduced road capacity. At round dests very high late game demand is focused on one point with in/out traffic in each others way, so they clog. Then any jam disrupting the flow is liable to tip the journey time into critical, as the cars are queuing nearly stationary. In general X roads are terrible as crossing traffic has to stop from full speed. Y junctions work better, until traffic is heavy, so I believe they suffice for groups of houses. 2 or 3 routes meeting at a roundabout with a slip road to the dest entrance is the most orderly way to feed a round level 2 dest. Double biz are problems as the 2 different colour traffic impedes each other in the car park, if the square dests traffic stalls then surges to catch up, that can be enough to put journey times of the other colour critical when the route is long or slow
@@evannibbe9375 lights work best where a quiet road with a few houses join a fast road at a T junction. Most main roads cars avoid slowing, the quiet road traffic waits, perhaps creating a bunch of cars, with a gap in front of it. That gap allows other cars to turn, clearing a route of waiting traffic. Putting lights at an entrance to a dest, actually reduces flow, as slow speed cars wait, the right turners stop too. With no lights, the slow cars enter/leave at max rate with no dead stationary time. Many high scores 100K don't have any lights, as they only help speed traffic in a compromised, mixed colour area, which will break down when level 2 round dests reach high demand
I hope they will add a multiplayer feature on this game where if it is 4 players the materials will be divided by 4. If theres a bridge then the roads will be devided to the three players then the one player will receive the bridge.
small trick I learnt, dont connect your highways directly near the entrance. Tie it in 1-2 road blocks away, to allow the traffic to smooth out more. It prevents that blocking that happens at the destination entrance.
12:18 I think it is a really efficient to reroute the middle red route through the river between 2 yellow malls. the yellow houses on the left could go to circle mall, the yellow houses on right could go to square mall. I dunno, I never played it. Am I dum?
I can't say what names gives the game to the buildings as i don't have neither a PC or an iphone and can't play the game, but calling the round buildings "skyscrapers" feels so wrong, as round buildings' shadows are as long as there square buildings' Edit: also, at 10:11, couldn't you have used the motorway for both the blue and the red cars or do you think that would've been detrimental on the long run?
I quite like that different people give different names to the buildings. One person I watched called them factories, another person says theaters, or warehouses- I call them stores and malls. It’s fun that people have unique names

Thanks for showing the Leaderboard. 424th is very good in my opinion, especially without controlling the spawn!
I thought seeing the very end i thought you said 424 points was good
I appreciate that you just get right into the content. i also like when you refer to the destination buildings "going circular' - reminds me of "going nuclear" like its about to blow up haha
I saw 9000+ trips in the title, wow is that an incredible score! Great video as always :)
I thought I'd just watch but halfway through - I have to play.
The game gives the buildings the names 'destination' and 'double destination'
destination is long af tho 😢😢.
Dest
Single and Double?
You'll never see me refer to anything round as a Double D, that's just asking for trouble
In code it is also referneced as "carpark"
The most common names I've heard are malls and imax's, works for me.
I can kinda see Manila in all those Motorways hahah

I feel that every intersection causes cars to stop, so actually a 5-way or 6-way intersection with a light can work better
@@evannibbe9375 the problem there is, unlike a 4-way intersection with 2 stages, a 5/6-way intersection with 3 stages could mess up the other routs
