Had one for years - 1.5 diesel Laureate - cheap to buy buttons to run and super reliable. When mine finally dies will get another. No nonsense motoring at its best
Great car. Surprised you didn't buy it yourself.
Suppose it's not got all the bells and whistles of some up-market cars, but then bells and whistles cost a packet When they go wrong.
Li, couldn't agree more with you're views on Dacia. an old mate who makes me look extravagant bought the cheapest most basic white with black bumpers Sandero brand new, drove it around for 7 years and sold it for over half what he paid for it. the car was bullet-proof reliable and dirt cheap to service. pretty good going on all accounts.
Think they were £5995 brand new on the road when they first came out. Bargain
@@fasthracing yep, I think that's what he paid for it.
@@thatcheapguy525 Yeah think they did them as a kind of loss leader for a couple of years to get the publicity. Seem to remember they didn't even come with a radio!
@@fasthracing manual front window winders, no rear wipe. think it was another £1000 to get the 'electrical package.' but hey, in some parts of the world the basic version was the big seller.
I think the cheapest model drives better than a full option one because it is 100 kg lighter. 80hp goes like 100hp
A 1.5 Logan diesel on the outskirts of Düsseldorf here in Germany ran to 440 ooo kilometres on long distance drives to the channel as a delivery vehicle.
I've been offered a 1.5 logan on 300,000 ,2015 ex cab but always been well serviced should I buy it
@@bigfist255you see them in turkey as cabs mega miles on them
I remember looking at a Duster underneath and being shocked by how much was rusty - parts not painted to save money? Surprised they never did a 4wd Stepway. Bizarrely I think Dacias will be future classics since so easy to do DIY repairs/maintenance compared to more complex modern cars.
Bought a new £6k Sandero Access in 2014. I really liked its utilitarian nature. Solid wee car. Developed a dangerous fault where all the lights (inc dash) would shut off randomly - usually when commuting on a pitch dark winding country road, leading to a few brown trouser moments. Main dealer could never solve the issue. I sold it in 2017 to buy a new Mazda MX5 which I kept for 4 months... too small & uncomfortable for me, hated the hairdresser image, never put the roof down once. Wished I'd kept the Sandero for all it owed me. Bought new for £6k, sold at 39 months old for £2600... a hard sell as no-one was interested until I moved the price to rock bottom. Where else could a buyer pick up a 1 owner, 39 month old, 39k miles, full service-historied car for £2600? Crazy times!
After my brief encounter with the Mazda, I bought a Duster Ambience 1.5Dci. The main dealer that had been great during my Sandero purchase were truly awful for the Duster purchase. To top it off, the engine turned from beautifully smooth (relatively speaking of course) to being a rattly bag of spanners at 1800 miles literally a few weeks into my ownership. The whole car felt cheaply built & had multiple annoying rattles. Someone smashed into it when it was 23 months old. A pretty poor insurance repair combined with a PI claim against the driver who hit me provided the inpetus to dump it onto a certain car buying website & get myself a 4 yr old Honda Civic which was a million x better.
I should add that the Sandero seemed pretty well rust proofed although the frame / rad support at the front, & the frame work / welds on the underside of the bonnet starting rusting surprisingly badly after just 2 years.
In summary: I liked the £6k Sandero & in hindsight should never have sold it & should have gotten an indy to sort the lighting problem.
The Duster on the other hand was a hateful hateful car that I took a big hit on off-loading to the car buying service. I could maybe have flogged it privately but on the other hand, I have a conscience! 😐
I keep telling my daughter to buy one now her NHS lease electric car is coming to an end. Put a set of Michelin cross climates and a Tentbox on it and you've got a great weekend get away car.
If you can get Michelin Latitude tyres for the Duster rim size , they're a really good choice too, they are not 'Full' Off season tyres but just that summer tyre with Light All Season M+S rating, but the kicker is they have a seriously robust side wall and great grip, so sit very well on the road and are great on those rough side roads and will indeed get her out of trouble if she were to park up on say, soft grass as they have robust ,"Mud Slinger" pattern... have for on our 2006 Honda CRV MK11.
Dacia have now introduced a 7 year warranty on their car which is retrospectively applicable to cars from 2019, obviously the manufacturer has faith in the quality of their products, unlike the miserable 3 years warranty you get with the German brands which speaks volumes for real life build quality and reliability
We have had 2 stepways ,brilliant cars, and are going to upgrade to a newer version
agreed the 1.5dci K9K engine is ultra reliable
Good buy for the reasons you say Lee. The parts used are well tested and are simple by comparison with the majority of complicated cars made by other makes.
Should try city auction group Peterborough i got my car there,, very modern auction house :)
I'm with you on the Dusters, good cars. I bought a 17 plate Ambience brand new in white. I actually like the looks, quite rugged. Mine was a 1.6 petrol and being a mild facelift version, had the chain driven Nissan engine rather than the earlier Renault belt driven one.
The materials used were surprisingly good to be honest. It had a DAB radio, electric front windows and stop-start. However the seats were terrible on long journeys (gave me a migraine) and the paint started to flake off the steel wheels after 18 months. It was also very underpowered, my 160k mile Y reg 1.4 Megane beat it on hills😅. That also made it thirsty, 32-5 mpg at best. A diesel would be much better but I couldn't afford the higher repayments on one of those at the time.
I had it on finance and had to give it back in 2019 when I was made redundant, a terrible R56 Mini replaced it 😅
I have seen early ones on a 13 plate with rusty sills, and similarly aged Sanderos with rusty subframes which is the only thing that would worry me.
Overall though, very good, basic cars and the current range looks very interesting and smart 👍
Interesting can i say i hear.many people say minis are terrible...
Love the 1.5 dci. Just annoying on high miles and injector's costs.. (Siemens inj fitted per injector is near £400 each.)
Siemens injector's aren't the best but 9/10 they fail because of poor fuel and no fuel filter change causing low fuel pressure. The service interval is 35.000 miles or every 3 years which ever comes first
A friend of mine has a Dacia with the 1.5 Diesel… fabulous Renault engine, used in Nissan’s and yes it was the engine that Mercedes put in the A class and made it the reliable one to have and yet Mercedes drop it LOL … 😮
In a nice spec in some of the Grey's and greens I think they look fabulous. Cul-de-sac I live on theirs 2 a 17 plate 4x4 & a 24plare with bronze mirrors & wheels they both look the dogs bollox.
I've got a 66 plate prestige 4x4 1.5 Diesel 55k on the clock. For the money it's a good car and I find it comfortable to drive with my bad back. Camera for reversing is very useful. I can be a bit lead footed but still get 44mpg and I'm mostly doing short trips. Much better than X-Trail I had previous.
I've had a stepway , basic car it gets you from A-B ,was reliable enough.
Well done on video haw is holydays
Hi Li. 👋. Wow that's a cheap Dacia. I like a Dacia for some reason. That would be an upgrade for you, lol. But I have never driven one. They look the part, though. Thanks, Lee. 😅👌🙏🙏🇨🇮
Good price. Quick question, what product do you use to clean engine bays when prepping a car? Any recommendations .. something cheap please lol
I like Dacias, they are honest unpretentious, value for money vehicles.
The Duster is a very affordable SUV, opening up this very popular segment of the market to budget conscious customers.
My favourite model in the Dacia range, is the Sandero, but I do like the practical Logan, the stylish Stepway, and of course the rugged Duster, which is a very capable all terrain vehicle❤.
I bought a new diesel 4wd Duster in 2017. People keep asking me if I want to sell it, apparently the 4wd models of that age are popular.
Dacia have the choice of previously proven Renault components hence their cheapish cost and good reliability, If i was in the market for a new car i would be giving Dacia a serious look! 👍
Yes simplistic and easy to repair however, turbo chargers reduce engine life by a third. I think a naturally aspirated slightly bigger engine would be much better.
Big fan sir
Bargain. Looks pretty good too. Looked at one before buying my Yeti. Seemed a bit cheap inside, but then again it's never claimed to be a prestige car.
Most likely to be my next car (or a Suzuki sx4 S-cross /Vitara) My worry is the tce engines over the sce. Do they have the same issues as the Ford ecoboost engines or the puretech from Citroën/Peugeot?
I've had one relatively good experience with a Dacia & one rubbish experience however the Suzuki would win hands-down every time for me.
the 4x4 versions are very sought after
Every Dacia Duster should come with a free hoover in the boot. 🤣
That car would then be every womans dream.
Total bargain, looked brilliant.
I think Dacia are good value and I would consider one. The engines look a bit underpowered but no that diesel one. I am not one that cares for any form of badge motoring . If it works and keeps working and lasts it is for me . Surprised you did not go for it.
Great car good for 200000
Tiz a pity they have dropped the diesel from there lineup. The 1.3 petrol from the Qashqai is ok, but a bit thirsty for a heavy car. I did look at buying a nearly new Duster Auto last year, tempted by the size of the boot space, but its the dated media system and poor economy that steered me away. At 6 grand though, someone will be grabbing a bargain on that diesel version.
the duster is out soon and that does look a nice vehicle. Be interesting to see the price point
Dacias aint my thing but a 2017 is it? For 4 grand it aint bad!
There only worth their value if they have been well serviced. Anyone who's into Dacia's understand the bad ones are always neglected that cause problems
Great cars. I don't think they will do well as a EV
Worked for Renault years ago which also was a Dacia dealer, not a fan of Dacia, think it’s horrible place to be in with everything cheap and nasty to touch, driving wasn’t great either. Yes it’s cheap and fine if you are not into cars and need something cheap A to B but I would put more money and get something better made and looks better, but that’s just me. As a day to day car, I like to feel some quality.
It's the Kite marks and Door locks that put me off Dacia 😢😢
This is on autotrader for £6495
I agree, they're like the Mokka to me, ugly on the outside but a decent car if you're inside and not looking at it. At that money for the age of it, never mind the miles, I would have been a buyer.
Simple an little electrics
Are they pronounced “Dat-cha’s” now ? Cracking value cars whatever they are called 😂
Sir resell
I just wish Dacia had an auto transmission option.
That's the only thing stopping me from buying one.
They do just not in 4x4
Still have this stigma that if only the owner had worked a bit harder syndrome. Had a Renault 21 back in the day and it was dire . Pushed it more than drove it. second only to fiat
How cheap did it need to be for you to buy it?
Why didn’t you buy it!?
I’ve had about. Well 3. Dacias. They must must be looked at physical before purchase. Cheap people kill the interiors and the cheaper Renault engine units don’t seem to do 100k do they. In bad hands they just jump timing. Lack of servicing …. Maybe zero maintenance is a Dacia trait ???? Get in it. Point and skirt. Servicing. No. What’s that ???? Bet they are good news if they don’t come in ‘wrong’. I love cheaper brands. Seam to have had bad luck Dacia to date.
the newer ones the service schedule specifies changing the oil every other service, which I think is a false economy just to keep fleet buyers happy. and those cars will start hitting the 2nd hand market. but same applies for other makes too.
@@brianjohnson5789 yes some Mazda or similar goes into limp after 3/4 over service schedule ignored. Easy get a scanner clear but for public they’d prob go in then get an actual service
Is It Not A Romanian Renault
As far as I’m concerned, they’re close, but no cigar!! Why do I make that particular comment? Well they’re not designed for camping in although a bed is available.
Dacia, pronounced da-chia
I think they are good value for money. Are Dacia owned by Renault? Is the duster basically a Renault?
Its like the emergance of Skoda some 25 years ago when they were making basically the then current VW models for 30% less than equivalent VW. Remove the badge and it was the same vehicle. Tell the buyer it was s Skoda and they would walk away! That's changed!
the later Dacias are based on the Clio that being the sandero, the duster is a Dacia design with Renault parts, however the new duster due out soon is Renault based and looks really well and will be a decent buy by the sound of it
Thought you were going on holiday 😮
I am this was recorded before I left 😁
They sell like hot cakes as well, stick that up at £5750 and it gone in minutes.
Time to bring the pitch up to date a bit ? its 2024.
Hi Follower of your Chanel thinking of going to Aston barcley for 1 car but it’s 3 hours away as a public buyer I can’t see CAP prices would you be able to let me know so I can see if it’s in budget please
It had Engine MIL inoperative or indicates a malfunction on last mot. Good luck for new owner 😂
The Romanian people stole the parts that’s y there so basic and cheap it’s just an engine 😂😂
Actually they didn't steal the parts. They made them. A good people with a difficult past .🕯️
No thanks
