- It was Dave's idea!
To bikepack along the Ridegway, then take in a section of the Thames path, before returning via the Kennet and Avon tow path back to our respective homes.
The adventure would take 2 days to complete and one overnight camp.
We met Mike who was Bike packing across the country from East Anglia to Cornwall, hope you have a great adventure Mike.
My Bike was a On One Bootzipper 29er, Dave was riding a Decathlon 520 and Tony was on Triggers Broom!

I thoroughly enjoyed the trip and its nice to be doing something I love on my Birthday ( cycling and camping) with some mates. We did also get a visit to the pub as well!
Will be giving the cycling a rest for a day or two to recover!
Happy Birthday Tony:) Now enjoy a good rest for a few days you have earned it. Get the Missus to do all the housework and cooking:)
Happy Birthday Tony.
Happy Birthday Tony 😁
Happy Birthday Tony. ❤️🎉

I am always happy when I see your videos, they really destress me even though I am not doing anything but watch you and your friends. They do make me happy, thank you keep them coming. XX
Thanks Linda, we all need a bit of destressing from this crazy world sometimes.
Hi it's me Mike from the movie, traveling from Woodbridge to Land's End. I HAVE reach Land's End on Friday noon, after 6days and 3h. I hope to see you again.
Happy Birthday Tony 🚲🙌 Sandy when I see bikes with panniers on , I say to myself get in there enjoy your adventure 🚲👏👏👏 when I see 17 odd cyclists with lycra & shaved legs peddling like a centipede I think get out the bloody way 😤 what a beautiful journey that was sandy 👌 Thankyou for taking us along ☕️👍
Hahaa, I'm with you on that Martin
Sandy.... I had a shite day today. But, your adventures lifted me😉A wonderful adventure. Thank you🖤👌🤙
Hope things improve for you Marty
what a beautiful country we live in thank you for sharing your journey with us made me feel good
Happy Birthday Tony!
Another well made out and about cycling! Good weather, good friends and a good trip - doesn't get any better!
Stay safe and healthy!
Cheers Dan, Just ordered some 2.5mm SF100 today
What a great way to spend a birthday happy birthday Tony 👍🥸🐶
Love the video as usual, Sandy. You guys are really fit, and you narrate your journeys beautifully. You take you're viewers to places they would never see unless they themselves ventured off the beaten track, most of us leave all the puffing and panting to you guys while we watch you from the comfort of our home's. Great video many thanks.👍👍❤️
Thanks Oshi, Well I hope the huffing and puffing is doing me some good:)
Happy birthday Tony . Nice way to spend your birthday on a nice cylce ride and overnight wild camp.
Dave is becoming a bit of a legend on your videos Sandy and rightly so 👍👍
Be great to see him and you do a review of his new Decathlon bike in more detail. I'm looking at one of those myself 👍 keep up the good work guys,
Mark
Dave is old school, honest and true! Sofar he is very pleased with his new bike
Happy Birthday to Tony🍰, yet another enjoyable episode Sandy 👍 couldn’t help thinking that it was a little like the last of the summer wine on push bikes, not quite sure who would get the honour of being Compo 🤷♂️ hope you make many more videos, they really are something to look forward to, all the the best and take care Sandy, Baz and Hev
I think the honour of being compo would probably be me, as I'm always a bit of a scruff:)
Hi Sandy. I watch cycling videos almost every day, and this is the most joyful one that I can remember. It was so uplifting and positive. Superb English countryside, excellent company, gentle humour and really good editing. Many thanks from myself (once a Warminster lad) and my wife.
Thnakyou:) Glad you are enjoying the videos
Catching up and thoroughly enjoyed this. Amazing trip.
Happy birthday Tony that looked a good way to enjoy the occasion.
Another most excellent vlog, Sandy, Dave and Tony. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
A lovely ride and camp with your friends, a dose of medicine Sandy.
Happy Birthday to your friend Tony.
Great to see the horse rider’s having such good manners, something sadly lacking in today’s society.
Happy Birthday Tony 🎉
Happy birthday Tony ,great video Sandy nice bike Dave your health to ride it.
Happy Birthday Tony !
You are in decent physical shape sandy! I havent been over a 20 mile trip in 25 years. 50 in a day at ours or any age is a workout even at an easy pace.
I've got a few aches and pains to be honest but keep on going. Biggest problem is lower back and right hip. Both have degenerative osteoarthritis now!!!
@WiltshireMan my right hip clicks from time to time. 😆 hang in there brother, much love sent your way from across the pond.❤️
I really enjoy seeing your beautiful country, through you lens. Will most likely never be able to travel across the pond. So I thank you, from Idaho, USA.
Thanks, the same applies to me, it's unlikely I'll ever get to see North America but what I see on others videos looks very nice:)
It’s great you get all those miles in and they’re mostly off-road. Cracking adventure 👍
What a lovely video, beautiful scenery along the river side. Interesting set ups for bikes, camping and cooking. I'm of a similar age to you all, I've lived in southern Spain for the last 20 years but originally from the UK Staffordshire /Derbyshire moorlands. When the weather is kind England is beautiful to cycle in. F. J. Miele in stag ram.
This ride looked perfect, Sandy. And you chaps didn't appear to get out of puff at all! A great ride with beautiful views along the way
I think for old guys we are still fairly fit, we have all been cyclists on and off all our lives and none of us are smokers or big drinkers
What a happy and refreshing video.. thank you. I like to ride sections of the Kennet and Avon Cycle Routes.. as it is on my door step also... I do like the Bristol to Bath section 👍
Hi Sandy, you chose a nice loop to celebrate Tony Birthday, and test out Dave’s new bike. I did that loop in the reverse direction some years back, from what I can remember the canal path appeared to be less over grown for you. It a lovely ride along canal between Hungerford and Reading well all the way to Bath really. Great to see you all out enjoying your off road adventure. Oh Happy Birthday to Tony. 🎂🎂🚵♂️🚵♂️🚵♂️. Nice to see your drone shots, they always give an added view to area’s we often pass . Cheers
It's a nice loop Charles, if your ever interested in joining us for a bike packing adventure just say, Dave and I hoping to do the King Alfred's way in a month or two, although we may alter it a bit as we have both done part of the Ridgeway and Thames path sections
Another good one, sounds like the fella on the boat loves the lifestyle, I still wanna shuck it all here in Oklahoma and live in the canals of the uk, or atleast try it for a year, thanks for the video
That looks like a great loop. Shame about some of the sections on the towpath. Good luck completing King Alfred's Way with Dave.
Thanks Bill, we may do our own version of the KAW in the next couple of months
I might be bias, but Tony has a great name. Happy birthday, great way to spend your time. Sandy, it just dawned on me that in these videos, if you think about it, there is so much of land not inhabited. The scenery was fantastic to see. Thanks for sharing. Tony.
Lots of land not inhabited but it is used Tony, there's not enough wild spaces though
Thank you loved you adventure watching in
Ireland cycling rules
Nice one sandy liked that lots, happy birthday tony 🫡🇬🇧👍
Cheers Marcus:)
One of the best vlogs I have seen on CZcams for a long time. Take care
Thank you for sharing your adventure! I really like the narrowboats. Cheers!
Really top adventure Sandy, excellent photography and sound track. Thank you and Stay Safe.
Thanks John
Nice that you have friends to go on adventures with Sandy !!! dit dit
It's nice to share the experience with good friends but sometimes it's nice to be solo too
You're lucky to have such good country to travel through!
Looked like Tony had a memorable Birthday. Sandy it sounded like you said that you used to fly para-motors. If so, that is awesome. You and I have a lot in common. I still have a powered parachute but have not flown it for years. I have a good quality mountain bike as well. I put quite a few miles on it in the past mostly traveling mountain horse trails. I am very impressed by the distance that you fellas traveled in the video.
Hi Lonnie, Yes I used to fly paramotor but retired from it a couple of years ago, in total I had around 160 flights mostly enjoyable but I did have a few bumpy thermic rides too:)
A bad ankle and poor situational awareness made me decide to keep my feet on the ground. I couldn't manage reverse launches no matter how hard I tried due to a slight balance problem I have when I turn quickly (all down to a type of brain tumour called vestibular schwannoma) that I had a few years ago.
Atleast I was able to tick the paramotoring off my bucket list!
You will find some paramotor videos on the playlist on my channel.
Hope you and Connie are both keeping well.
Sandy
Great video over familiar territory… I’ve just finished the King Alfred’s Way…. hard work & some stiff climbs but loved it… did it on a mountain bike over 4 days… I fully recommend it 👍
I did it last year, a great adventure
Hi Sandy..stopped in at Krumbz last Wednesday on your recommendation from a previous vid.. brilliant full English..highly recommend this place…Mentioned to the proprietor if he knew of a local villain goes by the alias of Wiltshireman … said he knew you well 😆😆👍.. like the bike packing vids mate.
Thanks Alan, Krumbz is good:)
Excellent video Sandy
Happy Birthday Tony
When I see you've done another video, Sandy, especially a cycling one, I get all excited and think to myself - "Oh goody!" - and if I'm not able to watch it immediately, I look forward so much to watching it later, usually with my husband who enjoys them as much as I do. So I will wait patiently for Husband to finish washing up after tea (it's his turn) and then we'll watch this latest one, and them I'll comment again!
Haaa thats wonderful Lizzie, make sure he does a good job with the dishes:)
Another very enjoyable evening's viewing! Mind you, with reference to your video where you talk about slow cycling, I wouldn't call 50 miles a day slow....
Don't know how I missed this one last week Sandy. Love your cycling videos!
Glad you found the video Bill
Brilliant Really enjoy ya adventurous done A few myself All over scotland
Enjoyed your video nice and relaxing thanks 👍👍
First of all, Happy Birthday Tony!!!!! What better way to spend a Birthday? No doubt that you three built up some very fond memories on this wonder trip. Riding along the the canal on those tow paths is such a perfect setting to enjoy a bike ride with friends. 100 miles is quite a long 2 day trip but I am pretty certain that you enjoyed every mile of it (except those horrible and steep steps that were on the trail.) Thanks for allowing us to tag along with you, I will see you on the next one.
Even enjoyed the stee[ steps Terry:) 50 miles a day isn't bad especially when your off road where the pace is slower
Yup great video bro so cheers for letting us tag along, some interesting views and history along the way. H/B to Tony from NZ. Safe travels. Ken.
Thanks Ken, I'm sure Tony appreciates the wishes from NZ:)
Hi Sandy, great video. I saw you stop outside my house on Chopping Knife Lane but was on the phone otherwise I would have shouted 'hello' from the window. I did give you a wave but you didn't see. I guessed you might be heading to Krumbz, great cafe 👍. I'll bump into you on a ride one day I'm sure, all the best 😁
Hi Gav, would have been nice to meet you, It's a nice place to live and not far from Savernake
Yes if I’d not been on the phone, I would have given you a shout. Next time 😁@@WiltshireMan
Great trip, really enjoyable to watch.
Lovely video as always. I just love the Ridgeway!! Heaven on Earth!!
Yes Colin it is very peaceful up there
Great video good to see you out and about with the lads enjoying the lovely English countryside at it's best.
Thanks Dave it was great to be out
Loved this film - you are rewriting Three men in a Boat Mr. W. - without the boat of course, but the feel of your adventures with your friends is the same, with more than a dash of Last of The Summer Wine mixed in - wonderful!
Happy Birthday Tony, another year on the chalkboard 👍🏻🍰🍷
Nice new bike Dave, although I still prefer the Bromptons if I’m honest - that Way of The Roses Ride 🤗
Bromptons are great for most cycling but not for the Ridgeway or the canal tow paths :)
You’re right - I shall have to buy myself a big wheeled bike!
Happy Birthday, Tony!
Oh, those proud Little Ships. The remaining few deserve to be respected and pampered, to my mind. Nice round trip Mr.Wiltshire. And nice new bike, Dave!
Thanks Barry yes some history with those little ships
Just brilliant
Another awesome adventure! Great video!
Lovely video mate, do you ever feel your in the wrong time, I always feel I'm a hundred yours out of date, I guess I could be reborn and need time to a gust lol. Great to see the narrowboats on the water and you guys enjoying life. Take care.
Yes Dave sometimes I do, but we also do live in very interesting times, the pace of change is rapid, just don't forget the past!
Always great videos. thank you
What a cracking part of the UK. Strange to think you're so close to London with all that lush greenery around ;-)
Central London is about 68 miles away as the crow flies
Nice one Sandy, long may your adventures continue.
Thats the plan Steve, enjoy it for as long as I can:)
Happy birthday Tony mate, hope you had an awesome day mate. Seeing you ride into Newbury and knowing that my dad worked alongside the canal, at the Social club there, got me thinking of my dear old dad and then the trip to Hungerford...just under the bridge was where we used to do a bit of shopping when I visited him. Some lovely breathtaking views on this ride too Sandy....thanks for taking us along with you
Some nice memories by the sound of it Steve, where abouts do you live nowadays?
@@WiltshireMan Still in Chislehurst, Kent Sandy...been here 35 years now...can't see myself moving now buddy. My little escape when mum and dad were still around was going to visit at Welford Road and going for a daily walk through the woods there and not seeing a soul. Glad I got that Himiway Cruiser after I sawyer and Mandy on the step through, getting that one up from the step through was a godsend. Turned it into a cargo bike now and now I've got over an op, I'm looking forward to getting a backpack on, so I can take the kitchen sink next time
@@stevetaylor8446 My mate Dickie has got the Himiway now, Mandy found it too heavy, Dickie loves it, I think the Himiway is a more practical bike than the other fat tyre bike I have which is the Cyrusher Ranger, you can carry a lot on the Himiway and you don't have to put any effort in to get the bike to go either:)
Thanks for making these for us, Sandy. Nice bike, Dave and Happy Birthday, Tony. 🥳🚴♂️🚴♂️🚴♂️👍🙂
Fantastic trip Sandy! Canals and scenery. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for sharing Sandy I use to live on the Regents Canal small narrow boat, always enjoy your videos & our lovely Uk countryside.
Dave B. Thailand
Hi Dave, Do they have canals in Thailand?
@@WiltshireMan They use to have Klongs Sandy but they closed them, created massive flooding in monsoon season
Another excellent adventure. Happy birthday Tony.😀
Happy birthday Tony 🎂 yet another brilliant video sandy lovely bike ride keep up the good work
What a spectacular ride , very beautiful. So much nicer when you have friends with you isn't it? I would love to take a trip through that English countryside.
Dwayne
Thanks Dwayne, The English countryside is very beautiful, you would love it I'm sure
Looks like a good bike trail might have to do that. Just setting up a bike for a long distance one.
I hope you get some good adventures in, the secret is to go slow and steady and enjoy the journey
A heartening watch as ever, Sandy. Good choice of music too. Happy Birthday, Tony.
Great video, Sandy.
Happy birthday, Tone!
Well done fellas 👍🏻🚴🚴🚴👍🏻👍🏻🍻
Cheers Coops:)
Injoyed that chap and Recognised some of your b roll footage from when you had your bmw llke your old sound tracks 😊👍
Hi Danial
Yes I used a clip from an old video to show Segsbury camp, I couldn't fly the drone during the ride as the wind got up
@WiltshireMan alway loved that footage and music
Very good .
A perfect small adventure -Well done Sandy-Totally enjoyable !
Thanks James, we all had a lovely time:)
Very interesting trip with quite a variety of landscape. Thanks for taking us along. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Glad you enjoyed it Carol
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TONY 🎂👍
Lucky man having such picturesque country in which to ride.
I was looking at the Decathlon bike some time ago but I needed one with full suspension for our very pot holes tracks.
You’ve come a long way since your first video making a knife from a file, I have shared your video to a bike riding friend.
Thanks, I think the Decathlon bikes are well equipped
Kappy birthday Tony. Hope you had a good one!
Fantastic ride Sandy loved it!! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks Pat
Happy Birthday Tony🎉🎂🎉
We spent a few days at the canals in Marlborough back when, and spent a lot of time at Weyland’s Barrow and the Ridgeway (the Old Straight Tracks) back a bunch of years. Great country. Quite the nice video. Happy Birthday Tony!
Happy birthday Tony. I nice adventure with mates Sandy 👍
good vid out on your travels thanks lee
Thanks for watching Lee
Bikes and canals! Bonus edition. Thanks for sharing your peaceful ride. Looks like a small electric chain saw could be essential equipment for clearing some of those tree-blocked routes ...
Great trip sandy, pack a mini chain saw to cope with felled trees 😂 ps happy birthday Tony.
Very enjoyable video and well put together. Even though ‘we’ve’ just rode 100 miles, I feel quite chilled and relaxed 😉👍
Nice one.
Happy Birthday Tony..
Looking good for 60...
Tony's 57, me and Dave are both 60 now, infact I'm closer to 61 :(
@@WiltshireMan Sorry Tony.. Still looks good tho..
Great video! Everytime I enjoy the beautiful English countryside. Last week in July I stay at friends in West-Sussex.
Looks like it was a great trip and great country. Thanks for taking us on the ride!

Some beautiful towpaths Sandy , right up my street 🚲 I just love the slow pace of life down on the canal. Looks like it was a great trip ⛺️👍 atb Dave
If you ever get down this neck of the woods your welcome to join us on a bike packing jaunt Dave
Happy birthday Tony. This was a very relaxing video Sandy , beautiful canal and countryside. Thank you.
Thanks for watching Anne
Really enjoyed that Sandy. Beautiful scenery, great music choices and a lovely watch. ❤️👍
Thanks Carol and Ken,
I found the route most refreshing as not a lot of traffic apart from going through Reading:)
Fabulous Sandy, fabulous. A belated Happy Birthday to Tony.
Thanks Alex
thoroughly enjoyed your ride beautiful scenery looking forward to seeing the new bikes 🎉🎉 happy birthday tony🎉🎉
Thanks Susan, Mandy has a new Ebike (sent for me to review) but it will be ideal for her
Very nice video Sandy. I’ve always wanted to cycle the Kennet and Avon canal. It’s something I shall add to my list. You’ve inspired me.
I'd love to tackle the whole Canal route one day
I really enjoyed watching this! I visit Newbury fairly often, and I live in Aldermaston, so it was interesting seeing some familier places in one of your videos. :-)
Glad you enjoyed the video, our overnight camp was close to Aldermaston
Lovely ride Sandy, many happy returns Tony, the new bike looks good Dave,& the cameraman isn’t bad either,👍
atb Colin P.
