    “Reusable boosters was clearly the way to go.”
    That statement demonstrates that the writer doesn’t understand the Rocket Equation. Although SpaceX has developed an amazing and reliable technology, the reality of rocket technology means that substantial payload performance is sacrificed to recover the booster. It is patently obvious that it will be an overwhelming cost savings when proceeding on such a development.
    I am an enthusiastic supporter of SpaceX and admire their accomplishments. Particularly their ability to land the boosters. But it is an over statement to say that recovery of boosters is clearly less expensive.

    5:44 Not a black bear. It's a grizzly.

    • @koriw1701
      @koriw1701 Před 8 měsíci +5

      *No, it's a black bear.* The narrator says that the *footage is filmed in Massachusetts and grizzlies do not live further east than the Rocky Mountains* (although some have been seen as far as Bozeman MT. They have been searching farther afield for calories to pack on before the winter now that summers are longer, hotter and drier, the massive fires have been depleting their usual food sources and winters have been much, much shorter)
      I grew up in the northeastern US, but I moved to Washington state 36 years ago to go to college and decided to stay. I saw plenty of both blacks and grizzlies and I will give you a foolproof way to tell the difference between the two types of bear. Both bears occasionally have similar colours and both can be practically blonde, but the easiest way to know that your bear is a Grizzly is to find that huge hump over the shoulders; blackies don't have that. On the skull where the nose attaches to it, a black bear has a very gradual slope from the tip to it's ears, whereas a Grizzly bear's nose has a sharp indentation (or dent, if you will) at the bridge and you can see exactly where it attaches to the skull. The rump of a Grizzly is lower than its shoulders, but the Black's is just the opposite.
      (Not to mention, a black bear has much longer ears, but that difference is incidental at this point and you probably won't ever see them side-by-side unless you're at a zoo, so it's only barely worth mentioning)

    On the bonus one at the end with the helicopter, when asked can you even tow a helicopter? The answer is 100% absolutely. I know for a fact you can use a tug and push a Blackhawk helicopter around. When I was an avionics mechanic in the army I would help the crew chiefs and other general maintenance guys move UH60’s all the time with a tow bar and a tug or a John Deere tractor. I would either be in the cockpit on brakes, on a rope guiding blades, or on the tug or tractor moving the aircraft.

    I wouldn't blame the forklift driver necessarily. Poor guy could've been the best, most productive and conscientious worker ever, just on a bad day that day. It should NOT be that easy to break a support of a massive storage structure, and it certainly should not be designed so that one will drag the others down. It looked like the warehouse owner skimped on structural design to save money. Accidental crashes should be 100% accounted for in businesses like that, because it's not uncommon for drivers to make mistakes, and if a simple mistake can cause THAT, it's management's fault.

I have (accidentally) breathed, at different times, chlorine, bromine and iodine gas enough to cause respiratory pain, and that was very dilute gas that I breathed. Its not the molten aluminum that causes the problem in that one video. Water is made of Hydrogen and Oxygen, which are very difficult to seperate under normal conditions. HOWEVER, in a furnace designed to melt metal, the temperature exceeds 3,000° F (1,648.889° C). At these temperatures, water will SPONTANEOUSLY seperate into Hydrogen gas and Oxygen gas, instantly igniting and causing the eruption seen here.
    The same effect occurs REGARDLESS of what metal is being melted. NEVER put wet metal in a hot furnace. This incident is the Foreman's responsibility. He should have made ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN the machine operator knew the danger.

    • @danielmorris7648

      Lmao they don't separate molecular bonds the water is vaporized into steam

    • @throne1797
      @throne1797 Před 8 měsíci

      The molten temperature of aluminum is 1220F. The eruption was caused either by the water vaporizing into steam or by chemical reaction. Water expands by a factor of 1600 when it turns into steam at atmospheric pressure. Because molten aluminum is quite fluid the water form pockets in the melt where it vaporizes to cause the eruption usually in the form of a spray. That spray can react with the oxygen in the air to form aluminum oxide. In addition water can react with aluminum to form aluminum oxide and hydrogen gas again causing a violent eruption. That chemical reaction is exothermic meaning that it creates substantial heat that can further vaporize any residual water.
