Glad to see Andy Samberg is making Davinci Tutorials again.
Ten seconds in, and mind blown. I’d seen a lot of people talk about it, but it was the same example footage from BMD. But this.. is amazing!
I like your tutorial style, concise, to the point. Keep it up!
Great explanation mate. Love your style of videos, can't wait for more uploads!
Right to the point and effectively explained. Thank you.
its really gonna come in handy for VFX and compositing CG lights. also love being able to stabilize multiple clips. I use the gyro stab to kill rolling shutter from the 6kpro so its a huge time saver.
If more tutorials were as concise as this, i would've finaly understood how the Fusion Tab works. If you make something similar but for the Fusion tab, im all in.
Thanks mate! first one to explain it simple and properly
This is awesome. I used to fix my underexposed shots by using the global (increase) and light (decrease to counteract overblown highlights) exposure HDR sliders which works pretty well but of course is kind of a hack. This though seems perfect for that. Seems every update DaVinci solves the problems I am having.
Great information. Love the way you get. to the point
I was always a big fan of Made By Spencer. Funny how this is how I find you again
But how does it look on a video file? Seems to work amazing on this static shot, but it would be interesting to see how it performs on a video and when the subject is moving. It seems like every youtubevideo that shows the Relight tool are using static shots, but I guess people are going to use this on videos, no? Is the static shot illustration because it doesn't perform well on video?
Yeah, that would've been helpful, how can he not use a video file....
You'd assume since its video software....
@@ViziaFilms can’t you just track the keylight fx to the shot?
You need a hell of a computer with lots of processor power. I have a Mac Pro with 1.5 GB intern memory and a ProRes accelerator...and you still have to work on a static shot and render in place.
Great vid! Super concise and easy to follow 👍
Amazing. Cant wait to use it in Green Screen compositions to better match the subject with the background scenery lighting!
Great succinct tutorial! I've been watching a ton of videos on this and one pet peeve I have is no one hits play! I'd love to see the relight in motion, but I guess I'll just have to grab the beta and play around with it myself
Spencer - the most underrated CZcamsr ever.
Holy hell. I watched three other videos that moved so damn fast I had no idea what it was saying. This solves it thankyou!!!
Time to switch from premiere for sure! Thank you for this! Keep em coming dude!
Thank you for sharing. That’s great
This is the first video fully showing what this new update is capable of 👍🏽
beautiful
Can't believe Spencer's back on CZcams!
Thanks for this
perfect tutorial mate!!
holy crap, this is nuts! thank you!
Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you very much.
Wow I didn't think it would work so well on a poorly lit scene. Amazing!
Holy shit Spencer!!!! It's you. I've missed you so much on your other channel
Thanks so much!
Useful! When I saw this was only 3:14 I didn't think it would get sufficiently in-depth. Was surprised to be able to glean just about everything I needed from it. Even left me time to comment. :)
The feature is definitely game-changing for some, but I wonder how many updates away we are from having the eye catchlights match the direction of the light source.
Wow man great video!! Loving the style and explaining 🔥 would love to have seen for a shot with normal exposure or overexposed. Also, would have been nice with a outro so that there was time to click subscribe 💪🏼💯 otherwise i would have subscribed on my tv (dont want to watch another ad haha) but also not left a comment 🤣 looking forward to more DaVinci and BRAW content
Excellent video! New subscriber here😎
I'm stunned by this holy shit
holy fuck this is insanly powerful and easy to use at the same time
merci
wow!
WOW
Does this mean people will start filming without lighting their subjects?
Tooppp ❤
Spencer, what are you doing over here?! Happy to see you
Wow! How does it hold up with H265 (or 264) footage? I don't have access to a BRAW calable camera
Great Video! Can you explain why Rec709-A i thought i should use Rec709 Gamma 2.4 for CZcams, bit confused right now. Cheers & keep up the great content!
The Rec 7099 A solves a wierd problem with lowered contrast after export that Mac users are experiencing. For me personally, all my videos were washed out after exporting from resolve and the Rec 709 A output setting solved the problem so my videos look the same after exporting as they do in the project 👍
Why use "Gamma" as your basis to increase the intensity of the light vs other controls? Seems to work well but just curious why not the offset control or others?
i need a top camera to bring up the details in the shadows
Blown away by the rim light, you can make anything cinematic with this!
🤯🤯
Try it on Frank Frazetta paintings.
I have davinci resolve 18 (free) on my pc back home, now I’m away and have a laptop should I download the 18.5 beta or the 18 version? Does the beta have all the things 18 (free) does?
only in BRAW, or admiss ProRes, HEVC, AVC...?
Is it available in the free version?
I thought there would be a lot of noise since it was underexposed but I guess not with this tool? 😅
Why do you not just use the internal mapping?
How to change the color of the light
How was it able to recover those details?
You can make serial nodes just clicking alt + s
why do you have to make 2 relight nodes?
Thanku.. Can anyone help ?? entered details & conformation code & click to receive free download but nothing happens.. anybody else have this issue ??
how was the noise? do you need to denoise after or it somehow already applies to it?
You might wanna denoise a bit.
Even with raw images, when you bring up the shadows in some dark areas, you will notice some noise
This is mind blowing. I presume the AI being used will just get better and better. To wear you can shoot with even lighting, and make your lighting adjustments in post. Both for action and non action. Granted that's taking a lot of render power. Maybe Davinci will try to create some rendering power like Unread 5 and make a 3d version of the talent on screen that mimics facial expressions and body movement. Clothing is different though.
I'm making a prediction.... Here it is. AI and Post production will get so advanced that the only thing you need to bring to set is a camera and a microphone. I think if Arri, Aputure, and other light companies can somehow learn to integrate post and AI into their systems, there may be a new long term business venture for them. Like AI artificial lights in post that behave light their real life counter parts.
Lol it's not Ai... Not everything is Ai!
@@BenEricson I'm sure there are aspects of AI being used to detect that that's a human face on screen.
@@paulkfilms Maybe, but I suspect it is a variation of the trick where you make a normal map from the image and light that.
Can this works in the free version too? Or just the studio one?
That's what I was wondering as well
How do you put more than one relight FX on the same clip?
More nodes or more adjustment layers?
i cant download this powergrade from my email
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
relight works much better if you right click #2 surface map go down and turn on node cache instead of auto
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is amazing but at the same time still artificial light, as the point surce do not modify the shadows, is only a mask with gama up, im wondering depends totally on the file capabilities to create “light” i know im sound pesimist but i didnt, this is mind blowing, but as AI is creating pixels from interpretation i tought that this reñight effect will interpret shadows and reflect on the file as well.
Very happy tho with this integration and really nice tutorial, thank you for the quick class very well explained
I thought I was the only one only seeing a power window moving around? I couldn't see any cool depth-information being created using cool AI-algorithms that would control the light fall-off towards the background in a correct way, or skin reflections or shadows or anything? What more than a simple, feathered power window is this?
I have not have the time to try it out my self, so please don't take my grumpy comment too seriously. But it's just my initial thoughts seeing this tutorial, and if I totally missed the magic, then the otherwise nice tutorial could be improved even further.
I should download this beta just to fix one shot.
Premiere pro had this 8 years ago.
Mine does not even preview in less than 10 sec
The shadow not matching with the lights bother me..
I am with the others. Keep going with short tight tutorials on resolve. There is a gap for 3 minute vids covering one thing really clearly.
this makes me wanna shoot everything very dark so i can just relight it in a moody way after :D
Nice tool. But I imagine 8-bit images are going to break if you under expose and then do this. The dynamic range just isn't enough. Correct me if I'm wrong
Of course they will break.
10 bit and above, for any serious color grading / correction.
@@WEHAVETHISDREAM Yeah, I have an 8 bit camera, and have learned that the exposure should be as close to ideal as possible, before you push record. So that mid tones have the most dynamic range
Yoo tff
this is straight up scary
Only for studio version. Not free version.
Coming from Final Cut Pro I feel like I just watched a fucking panel being wired 😂
This might be magic... or witchcraft. Regardless this was a great video!
power grade is empty
no
what a annoying download site
Dislike for trying to fool people by editing a picture instead of a Video Sequenz. :/
Downvoted for wasting time with never even showing the effect. (A single still image is not a useful demonstration). I don’t care one bit about knowing how to do it if the effect is crap for video, which I guess it probably is because why not show it otherwise?
