No, tell me
@@NO-AH562 well not anymore. Palpatine still lived so his death was meaningless.
@@NO-AH562 yes his story is about Redemption but that doesn't take away from the fact that his character is tragic either.
Anakin turning to the dark side is the biggest tragedy In cinema history. The hero of the clone wars, a good man and a better friend seduced by evil in order to save the ones he loved. He was blinded by fear, god I wish we had more adventures with him.
If episode 1 started at him being the padawan he was in ep 2, and then we had the episode 3 anakin in aotc and his mother dieing in that one like she did, and cut out the child anakin, could have been a whole lot better. At least we still had the clone wars though
@@Klynch111 I always said I would have liked episode 1 to be him as he was in attack of the clones, then episode 2 would take place during the clone wars and then episode 3 is the same Anakin
Watch the clone wars there are adventures with him as much as you like :)

@@theemperor1379 Yep
Well, in my opinion, he was a slave his whole life. He feared death, and craves to control it. When he couldn’t, he became depressed and angry. Then, after all his sins, his slaughtering, the pain and suffering he’s felt and dealt, he CHOOSES to save his sons life. He SAVED his son. He stopped Luke from dying. Anakin wasn’t “seduced” by the dark side. He was forced to it by loss, love, fear, arrogance, and shame. He was only trying to save Padme, at first. It breaks my heart every time I see vids like this. All the things that happened in his life led him to make horrible decisions. I still cry when I watch Revenge and Return; when Anakin falls to the dark side and then when Luke brings him back to the light side.
Kat Kenobi from a certain point of view (kenobis perspective) he was
Whats interesting is he found out he had a son, and in that moment The Emperor was dead. Palpatine was lost the instant he found that out.
First he was a slave on Tattooine, later he was a slave from the jedi council and then a slave of the empire. The only moment when he was free, where his last minutes in life after his son brings back anakin and Vader kills himself. Such a sad story but thank you George Lucas and the entire Star Wars team for this great saga. You show us the rise and fall of anakin who becomes one of the most brutal villians and in the end he died as one of the most loved characters.

Dude I feel bad for him yes but the newest star wars movies were 1000 times worse. They should have stopped with 1 to 6 and Luke skywalker on 7 8 and 9 should have been a bad ass
@@vancleave100 I agree. Hayden did an awesome job as Anakin and the new movies were buns. One of the wealthiest movie companies ever got hold of the most complex galaxy of characters and epic adventures and they totally dropped the ball by trying to make it all about the fact that there were tons of women and minorities in it and it was all about friendship and crap. I can't even express how disappointing the new movies are. Luke should have been way more involved, and I hate that they brought Palpatine back because Anakins dying act was killing him to fulfill the "chosen one" prophecy
He doesn’t “get so much crap” for it
"I am a Jedi, like my father before me" those words hit SO MUCH HARDER when you watch the entire struggle that Anakin has gone through, and yet Luke is STILL trying to pull the good back from the bad.
Damn, that made me misty eyed.
Yes, especially that cut to “you were the chosen one!” Brutally beautiful.
I was born in 1975...when I was a kid, watching the movies I thought it was Luke Skywalker's story the most interesting...as I became an adult and watched the Prequels reborn it was obviously Anakin's story that is the deepest and the most important.
And everything he went through to be redeemed was undone by the hacks writing episodes 7-9. Sad...
wasn't "ruined" he did what he had to do, he can't control that palpatine transferred his essence to another vessel
@@joshtarrant9 "transferred his essence to another vessel" - exactly: this is a stupid idea by hack writers and whatever excuses anyone makes, it undoes Vader/Annakin's sacrifice. This is a cool video but eps 7-9 are garbage.
Josh Tarrant you’re wrong. It ruined the whole point of the prophecy of Skywalker. Anakin DID destroy the sith, Palpatine. And with that, the sith were destroyed. The sequel trilogy could’ve still worked, because the knights of Ren weren’t actual sith. But bringing back Palpatine nullified the prophecy.
I see it differently. He was the chosen one because he killed palpatine and darth vader dissaperes. In ep 9 palpatine is dead. He could only manipulate the force. That is why he is in the movie . Kylo ren is not a sith because he is a ren. The prophercy says that he would destroy the sith and he did. Anakin brought balance to the force and Rey kept the balance.
Sequel isnt canon
This is literally every single thing vader was thinking when he was a Sith Lord
When Anakin calls out to Ashoka during that rebels fighting seen... that shit has me in tears
it's even more sad that that was probably the first time Anakin had emerged from deep within his subconscious in a decade. When anakin fell from grace he developed dissociative identity disorder and the anakin persona was buried within the subconscious and anakin's body was consumed by the darth vader persona. It is very likely that the anakin persona, broken and destroyed after losing everything, sat in the subconscious watching darth vader cause so much pain and suffering that continued to break anakin even more as he watched vader slaughter millions of people with anakin's hands.
I hate when people say that anakin became evil, or anakin became a mass murderer, it wasn't anakin, it may have been his body but it wasn't his mind. I believe the exact moment the anakin persona retreated into the subconscious was when he caused the death of mace windu, there was that moment when anakin was sitting there absolutely defeated and he says "what have I done" and then moments later as he is kneeling down in front of sideous, that's when anakin completely disappeared and the darth vader personality took over. So although it may have seemed liked anakin was there, he wasn't, vader is the one who invaded the jedi temple killed all those jedi and those younglings and then vader is the one who force choked padme, and attacked obi-wan. I can't even begin to imagine what anakin was feeling as he watched his own hands force choke the love of his life and attack his master, best friend, and brother.
After a decade of being trapped in the subconscious, when vader saw ahsoka that was the first time anakin had seen her since his fall. Somehow he gained enough strength to momentarily fight the vader persona and emerge from the subconscious, but I guess he wasn't strong enough because vader was able to push him back into the subconscious a moment later.... it's just so sad :(

Absolutely man
With stuff like this you really forget how evil vader actually was
Well he was the chosen one, jedi became too close to ending the Sith and the force needed a balancer, same when the jedi were about to be totally snuffed out the force used the same balancer
Gotta admit though, he did do everything he was supposed to do. He eventually did take out the sith bringing balance to the force.....Well until Disney got involved and added more sith
Jonathan Rodriguez you telling me the emperor wasn't a sith? And Darth Vader also was a sith. Taking out the emperor and himself brought balance, doing this he did everything he was told he was meant to do.
Benjamin Sparks True. Give it a few years, there won't be a single thing without the Disney brand
evil, yes. but amazingly he tortured himself every damn day and never acted evilly out of his own self interest, but rather to save his wife or to fulfill his own monstrous self image
This just shows how Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is the very core of the whole Star Wars story.
The internal conflict of good and evil that was within himself who was known as the Chosen One to bring balance to the Force - the energy of Life. In so many stories when we think of the "Chosen One" we think there's no way he could be evil, he has to be good otherwise he CAN'T be the Chosen One ... and this is what probably Obi-Wan thought, therefore, had no idea Anakin would turn to the Dark Side. But he did.
The Light Side, despite being good, was mastered by Jedi Masters who had become so strict in their ways, overly cautious of being seduced to the Dark Side that they could not see a Sith was in their midst and that Sith - Darth Sidious - a master of the Dark Side, manipulated the most powerful (yet emotionally weak) Jedi for the benefit of Sith ways. Siding completely with either side had not done Anakin properly - depressed both ways, the only happiness he felt was his love for his lone mother, Padme and his child(ren) before they were even born, which both Jedi and Sith had stripped him away from in one way or another.
Anakin was the KEY to balance that had been misused and abused by both. He was the strongest savior and warrior for the galaxy ... and the most feared, tyrannical weapon of the Sith ... and the only way to save the Chosen One was to bring back the one thing he loved most ... the last piece of Padme and himself, Luke.
That was a very adept perception of it!! Loved that description of the moral story!

Hayden Christianson did an amazing acting job in Revenge of the Sith and time is proving/ageing well his amazing work playing the most complex torn character in Hollywood history.....and along with Ewan Mcgregor and Sir Alec Guiness as the best actors in all the Star Wars films and by some margin. The three of them make the franchise so very special. Solo, Leia, Luke, even Rey are great and fun but Haydens work along with Ewan's is proving over time to be actually the best actors of Star Wars ..and shown especially in Revenge of the Sith (by far the best movie of the franchise). It showcases Ewan McGregors career best acting performance as well which in Sith matches Sir Alec Guinesses as well possibly. Obi-Wan's character's truly gives Star Wars legitimacy integrity and real strength. Bravo.

"Your destiny can change just as quickly as the love in one's heart can fade, nothing is set in stone" Something truly powerful about that line
Darth Vader IS Star Wars. While I am a *colossal* fan of seeing his more brutal and dark side, and watching him slaughter armies or tear people apart, Darth Vader’s redemption is also just endlessly captivating and well made. Luke’s beg for help of “Father, please!” in RotJ always gets to me. Vader could not resist the plea from his child, and finally realised that his love for his son was stronger than his rage, hatred or regret, and he would not lose him no matter what. Truly powerful to see Anakin break through again and sacrifice his life out of an act of pure parental love for Luke. After his mother Shmi’s death, Anakin promised her he would not fail again. This was his ultimate test, and he did not fail, saving his son, bringing balance and ultimately keeping both the prophecy of the Chosen One and in a way, the promise he made to his mother.
I think a major part of how Luke got through to his father was what he shared with both his mother and grandmother; Shmi never gave up on Anakin, and never wavered her love and support for him, and this kind of unfaltering care for him was only shared by his wife and the love of his life, Padmé. What they have in common is that Anakin lost both of them and in both cases he blamed himself completely, believing that his own lack of strength and ability to keep his promise to free her caused his mother’s death, and that his own actions blinded by anger caused him to unintentionally kill his wife. He lost the two figures of consistent care in his life, with Obi-Wan having the barrier of first being his teacher and thus being critical and formal unable to truly show him care, and then secondly the confides of their differing positions in the Order. The Jedi Council distrusted and disrespected him even after all he suffered and worked for on their behalf, and completely neglected his needs, pressuring him immensely by slating any wavering in staunch Jedi ideals as “a path to the Dark Side” rather than normal human responses in his situation. The scene where he goes to Yoda for help is a perfect example; Yoda meant no ill will toward Anakin with his ‘advice’, and in fact was doing his best to help, but the council really were stupidly misguided about how both emotion and the Dark Side worked during this time.
In his time as a Sith, everyone had given up on Vader, most of all Vader himself. Obi Wan and Yoda thought him completely lost and without a silver of hope at redemption, and the closest thing Vader had to anyone who cared about him was the facade that Sidious put on, when in reality the Emperor couldn’t care less about his apprentice if he wasn’t useful to him and strong enough to carry out his tasks, routinely plotting lethal tests and secretly sabotaging and endangering Vader’s life, and had the latter succumbed to any of these tests and ended up crippled or dead, Sidious would not have a single regret, and would just be disappointed or angered at his apprentice for failure. This is where Luke came in, and refused to give up on Vader, even when he routinely told his son that there was no hope for him, and that he was no longer Anakin Skywalker. It must have been a shock to Vader to have someone actually believe in him, show care and tell him that he had good inside him and that he was not a failure and a lost cause to the galaxy. Luke gave his father what no one had since his mother died, a feeling that he was actually worth something not because of his power, or his intellect, or his savagery, but because he was actually loved and cared about by someone, and that love was strong and genuine enough to endure hard tests. And that was a major factor in why, when given the choice between his life in the Empire and the Sith which he had accepted and resigned to for decades, and to abandon all that to save his son, Vader chose Luke.
Don’t get me wrong, Vader is not at all a completely innocent victim, and morally speaking his atrocities can hardly be ignored, having directly and indirectly killed trillions and committed acts of barbarity which at times rivalled his master; but he made all the amends and atonements he could by choosing to do the right thing, and died a good man, allowing his spirit to transcend the physical plain and achieve both forgiveness by many of those he had wronged, and a state of peace and happiness.
Anakins story arc always hits a spot in my heart.

The story of Anakin Skywalker is the greatest tragedy ever written.
(Darth plagueis is up there, for all you prequel memers)
I loved Anakin right from the beginning when I was a kid watching the prequels. I felt so sad and sorry for all the pain he went through. When I saw how bad of a person he was in the original trilogy, I felt even worse because he had lost everything in one swoop and was destined to that life because of what he did. The Tragedy of Anakin Skywalker will forever be my favorite story. His redemption at the end by killing the emperor and saving his son was the best.
Watching this makes me wish that anakin in EP 7-9 had a major role in the shaping of the movies. He could of been there for luke, and helped in the training of Rey. Damn such a missed opportunity to have who the whole story is arguably about or revolves around not in the recent movies. Shame
Such a poor character for sure...
Stole the words out of my mouth
The story isn't exactly about him, its actually mostly about "skywalker" not just anakin as the story is called "The skywalker saga" but yes i think he should have been in the movie but as a lot of people say haden christinsen was a bad actor, and if they brought him in the movie, it would have ruined it but i thought he was fine. but when rey heard all the voices, anakin said "bring balance to the force ray, like i did." thats a pretty big part because those word are a big meaning to the story.
Kai Smith hence why I said “arguably”about.
That’s what happens when you let a feminist take control of a male dominated series
pain and suffering will bring someone down a dark path, then once they meet that certain someone, they will rethink their whole life and change it
Man those first couple of shots of Vader staring out the window were so sad. You could see the emotion thorough his helmet. You can see the man hiding behind the machine.
Disney really ruined the whole concept of Star Wars with the sequels
Sequels weren't that bad, i guess what pissed everyone off was how OP Rey became with such little time. That and the love story between rey and ren seemed a bit forced. Disney should honestly turn back the clock and cover the old republic.
Raul Blood It’s more the fact that they carried on a story that had nothing more to give. The first 6 movies had the perfect arc that was closed.
True but it also would of sucked if those 6 movies were all we saw from the skywalker heritage. Going back to that story plot was a good move but they did a pretty shitty job at making them good lol.
I guess it wasn't that bad for me because the sequels went back to the thing that i grew up watching. The skywalker family just being bad ass. I can never say no to a movie based on the Skywalker heritage
What disney did is like The thanos is still alive despite the ultimate sacrifice of the ironman
But incomparable to the anakin

I love it when the Father says "Your destiny can change just as quickly as love in one's heart can fade".
Because, really, if Anakin's love fades away it will change everything as his love starts his downfall.

I love how much passion went into this. The tragedy of Anakin Skywalker. And with that, the heart aching story to turn him back to the light side. Luke and Obi Wan going through so much just to see the one they love to turn back into his true self. That being said, this makes me so sad. That the so called "continuation" of the story that makes up the Sequels, holds zero weight. I don't have any connection to the new crew, and the ruining of Luke's character. In this video you can see how much of a true Jedi he has become. And I don't see that anywhere in the new movies. I feel so much weight and passion within the story of Anakin and Luke. But nothing at all after that. Episode 6 is where the story ended.
I feel the same way.
Darth Vader is certainly the most famous Star Wars character ever.
Best villain/hero ever
Anakin/Darth Vader is one of the most (if not the most) conflicted characters in all of Star Wars. From his fall to the dark side, to his redemption he is one of my favourite characters. And this video shows all of that so very well. It makes me rather emotional, and that's how it should be.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions...
That was awesome... now only thing we need is a Darth Vader stand alone movie.
Anakin Skywalker is my favourite character in any universe ever, he really showed what the light side of the force is capable of
I grew up asking myself why Darth Vader was so evil and what happened to him in order to fall so far into darkness. Years later, when I was an adult, it all got answered in episodes 1 to 3. Truly for me, the story of anakin is one that has had so much influence on my life. The ultimate picture of Darth Vader for me, is the iconic stand he does when he extents his arm and tells Luke "Join me...." It brings tears to my eyes, thinking how lost we can all get sometimes, and how far we can go in our madness and be blinded by our own hatred. What a story.... amazing.
One of the best.
Anakin Skywalker was a good guy. He knew right from wrong and knew his mistakes. He had good intentions when he turned to the dark side. He only went over there because he wanted to save Padme because he loved her so much and couldn’t bear to lose her and his kids. Him being consumed by the darkness is definitely the biggest Star Wars tragedy. After I saw Revenge of the Sith I’ve never wanted to kick anyone’s ass as much as Chancellor Palpatine/Darth Sideous. It really angers me
I never seen clone wars at all and that scene where Vader is looking at Ahsoka with his own eye is very powerful.

The Star Wars story is amazing but sad at the same time this is beautiful
this brought out emotions i havent felt in years. thank you
You have destroyed me i have no one cuzz of youu!!!!
didn’t think i’d cry but this is beautiful and the story of anakin skywalker will live forever. thank you for this.
I often think about Anakin/Darth Vader. It’s such a tragic story but it’s so beautiful too. Every time I watch Star Wars it has me begging that Anakin doesn’t turn and I think that says a lot to the characterisation and story. Side note: the desperation when obi-wan says “don’t try it”, you can feel how badly he doesn’t want to hurt Anakin but knows he’ll have to
Greatest story ever told.
