None of the negatives are negative to me ..the riots are over , you can learn times and quicker ways as far as traffic, according to several different sources Homes in many parts of the country are dropping in price …Portland may very well see significant discounts in the next 6 months to a year , you can go online and already see price cuts today , no kids so day care no problem and the ocean works or us as far as few lakes . We are making progress with the homeless but I hear many complain about that …Love all the pros ! Gun violence is not on the con list, but the lake of lakes is? I lived there for 16 years. I left in 2019. I was amazed at how blinded locals were about how quickly that place was deteriorating. The only thing more amazing is how much denial the place is in about how bad it really is. 2021 beat portlands highest murder record. 67 people in the 1980's and 91 people in 2021. In January there were over 19 people murdered with over 127 gun violence incidents. But, yeah...no lakes.

Today for the first time since i’ve been here a tent appeared on the sidewalk across the street from my place, but within a few hours it was gone. I have friends moved from Miami to Charllotte, Virginia and DC. Some moved up north of FL to Orlando.

kids are essentially 'not' welcome here -- or maybe you want kids playing amongst the bums, druggies, general criminals and their detritus: feces/urine on not just streets but sidewalks, needles, vomit, burned-out vehicles dotting so many streets, bums on nearly every street corner, dilapidated RV's on so many-many streets. All this with the 'blessing' of Portland's elected leftists.
but if there's money one can insulate themselves from much of this; you see Portland's electeds have effectively stopped the aforementioned into 'most' of Portland's affluent 'hoods, it is those folks' money that keeps them in their government class job...
write Portland off, it's working overtime to become the Detroit of the west coast...

Great video. Just saw this. Just wanted to add, You forgot cost of living is very high. 29% higher than national average. Besides buying a home (which is outrageous for what you get here) Median rent is around 1700$ while nationally is around 1200$ and groceries costs are 15% higher.
Alternatively, there is no sales tax. Public transportation in portland metro is top of its class. Gas prices are a little higher than the national average.
Job market is hit or miss. Easy to find good work in the tech and sales industry. From my own observations Oregon tends to get hit harder in economic downturns compared to the rest of the nation.
In my experience, good and fun place to live. It has lost a lot of its charm in the last 4 years or so because of the homeless crisis, crime and terrible political leadership which has a major effect on the area.
I don't agree that it's a good place to raise a family. You are right on point with daycare, insanely expensive. The schools are not good and the cost of living makes it that much harder. But for single people in professional environment it's a great place to live.
Honestly, I like portland and I love oregon more as a whole but there are better places to live with more to offer and better opportunities than Portland Oregon.

I'm kinda sad about Portland and Seattle. Before the pandemic, I had my eyes set on the Pacific Northwest U.S. The natural beauty alone was enough for me to consider moving there. Now that those two cities have gone to hell, I'm considering Vancouver BC. Then again, Covid is keeping the borders closed to nonessential travellers. I guess I'm stuck here in Michigan 🤷🏽‍♂️

As someone who has lived in Vancouver BC, the homeless, crime and drug crises has gotten worse there as well. Sadly the entire PNW got screwed by the pandemic. All of those cities are very similar. But they are bouncing back. Just remember Vancouver is extremely expensive, if you think Seattle or Portland is expensive, just double it, and that’s Vancouver. You can’t find anything decent under $600,000. And renting is even worse. Portland is the most affordable and also much smaller a city then Seattle or Vancouver.

Jackson Thanks to U and Jesse I'm going on my 3rd year living in Portland & now I've bought my 3rd home here in Portland Suburbs since first seeing your videos. Also Thanks for referring me to your team member Heather she's helped more than once. The videos U-2 did before you guys flew the carrier Pigeon Coop got me out of the sinking hellhole state under Oregon. Seeing many investors from Seattle, San Francisco, LA, & even China buying up the newer homes in W-PDX and rising up the prices. Weather is cold to me from mid NOV. to late Feb. Rain is like the riots it's over rated it's for the most part just showers a lot. A little more than half the year it showers and people from here don't use umbrellas & do know how to drive in the wet/showers/rain but lots of newbies from other places here do not know how to drive here. It takes a year or more to get it for most because some of the roads are weird and you can't legally make many U-turns here. When it snows in Portland is when you see lots of crash's and cars left all over the place in general people here have lots of trouble driving in snow. Love this place but for me Portland cost's more then CA for things like cars, labor and toys and many other things so most things except gas and homes cost more in Portland. You need to have lots money coming here or no money at all and then you can join the growing number of drug addicts homeless downtown living off the super high property tax's the local government charges the home owners here that supports their drug habits and never working at all and living off the Portland tax payers for free. The more free stuff they give out the more homeless/drug addicts/criminals are showing up and not leaving. Homeless live off downtown area and parts of bridges and some parts of freeways and other spots like Marine Dr but not in the good areas at this point. They have tripled since I moved here nearly 3 years ago. Talk to Heather she will guide you to the right kind of home you want to buy in good neighborhoods. THX again Portland is still way better than WA or CA is for me with pro's and cons just like Jackson is kind of telling you. I'm here right now telling you what I'm seeing from my angle.

Meh. Paid Portland a visit. Everyone I met from Portland were miserable souls... very negative people and just all around unhappy. I've never had so many junkies yell at me for having a job. Is it 'played out" talking about the homeless? I've never seen it so bad. I'm from Detroit. Granted Detroit is much bigger but still... I wasn't prepared to constantly have to look down when I walk so I wouldn't step in human sh&t.

@@mikaelaworkman3138 to be fair...it was downtown... not in any of the neighborhoods. I didn't realize what we were feeling until we left to visit some family in Eugene. As soon as we got out of the car in Eugene, I felt a huge weight lifted off my back..like I could finally breath again. We were constantly harassed in Portland going to our hotel...junkies yelling at us like we were elitist of something. The people who weren't junkies were all very negative and unwelcoming. It was like we were looked down upon for having jobs. It was just a overwhelming negative experience. And we don't come from a land of happy go lucky either. But people are definitely more friendly in Detroit than Portland. And I'm talking about Detroit...not the surrounding suburbs. As far as the homeless and human feces...yes..it was def a culture shock to see so much of it. People need a place to live and use the bathroom but I never experienced something on that scale. Granted...Detroit it 10x the size and there and 1000 abandon buildings and houses here for people to squat in. I can easily understand people need a place to live...but the overall negativity and distain for out of towners is what got me.
