- I never talk about things I find in life that I don't think are actually helpful or I'm 100% passionate about and I feel could help change someone else's life. This kindle has really been a game changer for me. Just like finding my jump ropes and my vibrator(not joking). I have fallen back in love with reading books and enjoy having a better way to cope with my problems than just scrolling through youtube all day. I really hope if you were looking into buying one that this video helps you out even if just a little bit!
I have started reading so much more and I have decided to challenge myself to reading 60 books by the end of the year. If you want you can follow me on good reads and keep up with what I'm currently reading! I might do a few videos on the books I read through the month just to keep me motivated!

Nothing beats having THOUSANDS of books in ONE device. Highlights, notes, flashcards, built in dictionary, all that in one light object. I don’t have to choose which books to bring, I just download what I want, cause I have them ALL in my cloud.

I agree! I recently bought physical books but have been struggling to read them for so many reasons, I totally have been unknowingly romanticizing reading like she said. My husband told me to go for it and buy one, I just might! I have my old fire tablet and I’m gonna see how many ebooks I get through this week with that and then I’ll decide but I’m pretty sure I’m gonna get one!!!

Everyone is beautiful when they are sincere, authentic, and are speaking from the heart.
On the other hand, anyone can be horrible when they try to look like they are not or are acting to deceive or harm others.
Exterior beauty should not be overvalued (although hormones tell us otherwise), as this is something genetic or the result of money (like plastic surgery).
you’re so right about romanticising the idea of reading. I actually realised recently that reading a book on my phone, tablet or kindle actually helps me concentrate so much more on what is going on in the book and I will actually understand it whereas reading a physical book, I could be nearly finished and I’ll find I haven’t actually absorbed any of the information. I don’t know if it’s just me or it’s a psychological thing.
I wanted to put reading books as my new year resolutions and I felt i would never achieve that even in small book reading. Then I bought my kindle and oh god ! The amount of time I spent in reading surpasses my daily social media time and I couldn’t ever feel thankful to have this technology in the palm of my hands. I can’t recommend it enough
I am getting a Paperwhite tomorrow. I spend way too much time on my tablet to the point that it is hurting my eyes. And I enjoy reading again after not really opening books for years. I am on 8 books for 2020 and I feel that a Kindle will improve my reading rate.

My Kindle Paperwhite is one of my favorite things! While you can't replace that new/old book smell, the convenience of having hundreds of books in your pocket is too amazing to give up. I've had various versions over the last 10 years or so, and even having collected 600-700 books I still only use just over 1GB of storage on my 8GB Kindle. It's crazy! I also love that there are no distractions using it over reading on your phone or tablet. No notifications, messages, popups, whatever to take you out of your book. And the built-in light! In bed with no lights? Dark car, plane, or train? No problem!

i really want a kindle. i do have an ipad but you’re so right about the notification thing. i LOVE reading in bed in the dark and stuff so i think it would be great especially since it has the lights and reading on my ipad isn’t exactly the best for my eyes that get over 10 hours of screen exposure a day so-
also when we do go back to school i can just carry my kindle instead of having a whole library in my locker. i’ve been using overdrive for over a year so that’s good for integration too
@@aimei548The kind I still have currently was the 2014 Kindle Paperwhite. I'm finally considering upgrading to the newer version this year just for the additional waterproofing and screen resolution increase, but my 6-year-old one is still going strong with no problems (and my regular non-light one from 2012 is too actually!).
@@astralityyy If you end up getting one I don't think you'll regret it! The light on the Kindle is much more gentle on your eyes vs a phone or tablet since it is technically front-lit instead of back-lit. I definitely like that even though it's also an electronic device I'm "disconnecting" from the rest of my devices for a while because of the lack of notifications and distractions.
ok, it’s official, I’m buying one 😂 The idea of being able to read on an ‘electronic device’ that doesn’t have any possible distractions that you’d get on your phone, sounds amazing. I actually find myself having way too much phone screen time, when I’d much rather be putting that into reading.
I can't agree more - I got my kindle as a christmas present this year and I was initally very reluctant to use it as I thought nothing could beat an actual book. How wrong was I? The kindle allows me to read at night with the lights off just before I sleep which I could never do with a normal book. I have read 10 books in quarantine and its all because of my kindle. If you are an avid reader of books already I would 100% recommend getting a Kindle. Plus, amazon do kindle daily deals where best sellers sell for 99p for a limited time which is a bargain!!!

Omg you're so right at the beginning of the video when you said that actually taking up literature as a major destroys the pleasure of reading cus like you said it becomes a task or a drudgery reading multiple books, essays, prose, and poems within such a short time.

How's the screen brightness, can it strain your eyes if you maxed out the screen brightness?
Absolutely! I downloaded the Libby app to checkout digital books from local library and it definitely changed my life.
@@afud1015 It uses an e-ink screen that doesn't have produce harmful blue light. It's like looking at paper.
@@afud1015 it's still blue light but is way softer and in complete dark you only need levels 1-3. Wished it would have been a warm light but it's ok this way as well, I find it magical and relaxing.

One more benefit I discovered when I chose to move my reading activity to Kindle is that the main difference when I am reading a real book, we may encounter terms that require us to google it so I'll have to reach out for phone for this purpose, whereas, a kindle has the capability to look it up as you go when you're connected on wifi which I think is an amazing upgrade to the traditional reading habit because it keeps you focused on what you're reading and you don't get holed up and trapped into other links and temptations fronm your phone. 💖 Super love how you did this review and I can tell how much you love your kindle just by watching you talk about it! I hope there could be more videos around with people who vlog like you do. 💖

you speak to the viewers as a friend and you are brutally honest. i cannot say how much I appreciate your advice on the decision between paper books or e reading. I found myself in the boat of romanticizing buying books but whenever I pulled out a book - I became distracted by my phone. I became so frustrated. I began reading books on my phone lately and using audible - which was been a huge blessing. I’m seriously considering purchasing a book! I cannot believe how much precious time is wasted by merely checking our phones rather than filling our mind with the glories of a book! All in all, thank you for this brutally honest review & for the encouragement!
I bought a Kindle Oasis before lockdown and i have never read as much as i have during lockdown!
Have one since a couple of days and it's a pleasure to read, I feel I create a connection to my Kindle too. Read more comparing to what I read last year. I hope my hype lasts. Hehe

I adore my Kindle. I can no longer hold books so my Kindle is perfect for me. It comes everywhere with me & I've read so much more since switching about 7 years ago.
the kindle recently sparked my love for reading too! i'm 19 right now and I haven't enjoyed a good book since i was 15 - i really missed the feeling of getting absorbed into a story and i've been using my phone less which has been sooo refreshing. i only use my phone for quality things now (checking up on friends, researching something etc.), so not only am i not mindlessly using my phone, i'm also absorbed by real books! feels so good aahhh
I absolutely love my kindle!! As a college student who LOVES long, epic fantasy series, having my kindle on my dorm desk is soooo much easier than having to find a spot in my room for a full series/multiple books. I love the video! ❤

Im pretty sure I've seen this video for the 10th time now, this by far my favorite yt video ever. You should do another one of these giving us the long term effects of having a kindle (like the how many more books you've read before and after you purchased a kindle) or how the kindle paperwhite is better and than other e-readers and how its better for certain people than others.

Hey, I just got mine today and there are a couple of small issues preventing me from fully enjoying it. Maybe you know the answers.
I highlighted a word for the definition and it asked me if I wanted to use Word Wise. I thought ok, I can turn it off if I don’t like it. There is no way I can find in settings to turn it off. What I can’t stand is having “Word Wise” displayed at the lower right of every page I read. I would also like to get rid of the % number. Reading is not a game that I need to know how much progress I am making. All I want is what would be on the page of an actual book.

Ok, I figured it out by accident. When you tap the lower left corner, it toggles through 5 different options of display of page number, %, time left in chapter, time left in book, Loc. One option is blank. Perfect. Odd that it didn’t mention that in the user guide.

That's a great video, girl! I watched like, at least, 10 videos talking about Kindles and functions of it and WHAT are the things you can do with it and settings etc but this is the first video that gives the kindle a real purpose, you told me WHY I should really buy it. I was the "nothing will ever replace a book" guy. My kindle arrives today and I'm excited. I'm running out of room and I agree that usually I can't get comfortable or just something kills my momentum while trying to read a book. I completely agree with everything that you are saying. I have used kindles for the last few years and I have no regrets. I currently have the basic kindle touch and it is amazing. I wanted to increase my reading after I slipped and got caught up in my phone and social media. It has helped me and it has made me excited about reading again and relaxes me. Overall good review and good reasons.

Thank you so much for posting this video. In my sophomore year of college and high-school made me hate reading. But with this quarantine from Miss.Rona I wanted to set a goal for reading to try to get back into it. And I borrowed my boyfriends kindle and wow...I picked up Harry Potter and didn't know I was missing out. Being able to read on my own time for pleasure has made me love reading again I feel like a kid. This video made me purchase a Kindle from Amazon and I got the regular one with the backlight and I've downloaded so many books and in the past 3 months since my state started quarantine I've read like 5 books. I would never imagine myself reading again. So thank you for making this video.
The proud owner of the Kindle Oasis 2019, 32gb wifi and lte, haven't put it down since Christmas! Been reading so many Harley Quinn, Gwenpool, and Ben 10 comics along with a few of the Resident Evil novels! Love the physical page turn buttons and the large screen, the latter being perfect for comics and way more words on screen. I haven't changed any of the display settings, and I personally don't use the warm light. 32gb is perfect, and the lte connection lets me buy books and browse the store when I'm away from home. It’s awesome bc I don’t have to hold it, I can curl right up and have it sit in a holder so it stays eye level. I can’t wait until bathrooms open up again and maybe I can go to a park and read! I’m loving it. You’re so right, I feel way more productive and more in touch with myself since I started reading. (I do just listen to CZcams in the background throughout my day)
If anyone is interested I use the Flight Flap from amazon as a holder. It fits over my knee, over a pillow, it’s awesome! Girl, two books at once? I can’t handle that!!! Lol

6/21/20: I was just gifted a Kindle FireHD8, and didn't think of reading books on it just for my Zoom meetings. Listening to you, I now feel better about the painful task in getting rid of 100's of hardcover books I treasured, and free up shelf space. This has been very helpful!

I was always afraid of reading because of the paper books, and the ageing task of reading them but then I got my kindle, and everything change. I love reading books but this helped me read even more. I too bought a Kindle Paperwhite as a gift to myself last Christmas. Best decision ever. I have thousands of books in one simple small device that I can take with me everywhere and anywhere. I thought I was the only one who didn't read after University studies. Let me tell you. I didn't read for years after that. Slowly I got back into the flow of reading physical books but decided to get a Kindle because mainly I love reading and I'm able to read at anytime, day or night, especially at night in the dark. I've been encouraging friends to purchase their own.
0:44 - EXACTLY!!! I use to read as a chore not an enjoyment, even if I wanna take notes sometimes if I found something interesting. I do want reading to be fun for me, but reading novels especially when they're wordy and complicated, it can be a hassle for me. e-books have helped me because I was able to go through some of the passages at ease even when I like to take some notes/annotations. I am a college graduate and I am soon going to be writing a thesis/dissertation which requires a JUG TON of reading articles and stuff. E-books can even let you adjust the font size and they are portable!
